OK lock in. I had another idea so I doodled out another messy comic... Hear me out.

Soulmate AU The kind with the names on the wrist!

Robotnik had been soulmate-less for a couple decades before it finally showed up on his wrist but at that point he was over it. Hes already jaded with the idea of love and longing for family.

Meanwhile Stone was brought to an orphanage where they had his name surgically removed from his wrist when he was very young. He doesnt remember the name that was there.

When they meet, Robotnik smacks Stones hand and feels the connection between them but is confused as to why the name is different and thinks Stone is some type of plant for GUN to manipulate him or something...

But he also kinda likes the feeling he gets when he touches Stone and gets a little addicted to it... sort of like he enjoys the jolt of the quill. For Stone he just knows being around Robotnik makes him happy no matter how much Robotnik smacks him around.

Since Stone is always wearing suits, Robotnik never saw Stones wrist until Stone put up his sleeves while helping Rob recover from his injuries. When he asks about it he also learns a little about why he himself never had someone adopt him (he didnt have a soul mark until he was in his like 20s) and also he suspects that maybe Stones name isnt actually his real name.

Blah blah shenanigans s3, explosion, Rob is miraculously alive still... w/e. When hes finally back on earth and he knows how he feels about Stone he decides to go out of his way to learn who Stone is and find out about his family to finally learns Stones real name to confirm hes THE ONE. (+finding out Stones parents died in a crash (or w/e) and Stone as an infant miraculously survived! So he definitely WASNT abandoned.(Had he been abandoned Rob woulda dealt with them))

Rob has great news to share with his very pessimistic, way-too-understanding-as-long-as-Ivo-is-Happy-its-ok Soul Mate.

And thats all I got..

Anyways I couldnt think of a name for Stone... You can suggest them if youd like.. Im not continuing this tho, I just thought it was a fun idea.

I don't think Robotnik ever saw Stone's affection as genuine. He's used to people only valuing him if he's useful. His own bosses call him a freak, yet they put up with him because of his "perfect operation record". He isn't even shocked when he learns the goverment erased him, he expected it and had a contingency plan ready.

He keeps calling Stone a sycophant and a barnacle, because why else would someone stay with him if not to gain something? Clearly, Stone is just a suck-up wanting to ride his coattails. And Ivo is fine with that! He gets his ego stroked and in return Stone gets a slice of the world-domination pie. Mutually beneficial!

This symbiotic relationship gives Ivo a sense of control and ensures that Stone won't abandon him like everyone else. It also keeps him detached: of course Stone waited months or him to return from space, that's his job. His admiration is inevitable, and meaningless.

Ivo develops a genuine, irrational attachment to Stone, one he's able to rationalize as just being transactional. Those emotional walls shield him from the fear of abandonment that comes with caring for another person.

Except...even after Robotnik becomes a liability, Stone stays. There's no benefit, no plans of ruling humanity, not even a paycheck. Yet despite everything, Ivo tries to keep the old boss/employee dynamic going. He can't fathom the idea that someone would stay for anything other than convenience.

Then Gerald shows up, and for the first time Ivo allows himself to put down those walls. As an orphan he had built up this idealized image of family that he thought he could never have. People will use you then toss you aside when convenient, but family? Family is different. Family will always be there for you and love you no matter what. Family won't abandon you.

And suddently Stone's grovelling is no longer necessary. Why would he need someone who just pretends to like him when he now has all the unconditional love he's always longed for? That's obviously why Stone got so jealous, it couldn't have been real concern, he was just afraid of losing his comfy position as the lapdog of humanity's new king. Between a sycophant and family, the choice felt obvious.

And, of course, Gerald turns out to be just like everyone else in Ivo's life: just another person trying to get something from him. The second he stopped being useful, he was tossed aside.

His image of family is once again shattered, but those emotional walls are already down. Now that Ivo experienced that betrayal he was so afraid of, now that he's about to die, he's finally able to be honest with himself.

Looking down on Earth, he realizes there had only ever been one person on that blue marble who actually cared. Someone who had always been there, even when there was nothing to gain. Stone had never abandoned him.

But he had abandoned Stone. He tossed him aside, just like Gerald did to him. Now that he's able to understand how Stone felt, this is his last chance to make things right.

In his final moments, with nothing to fear, Robotnik puts down his emotional walls and opens up as best as he can. Stone had done so much for him, asked for nothing in return, and now it was his turn to do the same. Ivo helped save the world, not for recognition or convenience, but simply out of love.

Stone had always been a sycophant to him, yes, but he had also been a friend. A sycofriend.

The best thing happened to me, and then the worst.

i swear I'll upload Wednesday's and Friday's fanfiction, I just need to finish them. I haven't had the chance to because the greatest thing ever has happened to me recently.

NGL I started this while having not slept and fell asleep halfway through so I DONT remember what I was gonna have Rob say to Shadow.... LMAO And also the second half after like a half hour of sleep so its far more scattered with panels.

the nice guys (2016) is actually such a funny movie bc it’s the 70s everyone is drunk or on drugs. russell crowes character (a muscle for hire who wears brass knuckles and beats up creeps that harass women & loves yoohoo) breaks ryan goslings arm (a alcoholic fuck up of a private investigator and single dad). the next day russell crowe walks in on ryan taking a shit in a bowling alley and is like woopsie about the arm can we work together to solve a murder <3. they become besties / coparents and open a detective agency together. it’s all v domestic

You know that whole "together in every universe" thing? But for Stobotnik it's just the one?

Its an outlier sure, an anomaly. But what if this strange accident the universe made was so potent and powerful that the rest of the universes suddenly became imbalanced and lacking. That they changed.

"I may not be there now, but I'll find a way to you."

And suddenly there he is. In every universe as if he's always been there and always will be.

His love like a catalyst, and chemical reaction. The universes may have felt Ivo didn't deserve it but damnit it knew that Stone did, And because Stone felt that Ivo deserved love, and his love was for Ivo, they gave them just this one gift. This blessing. It was all the two of them ever needed really.
