The devastating difference between how much time it takes to write something vs how fast people read it lol

Oh dear, what will become of me?
Ungrateful bastards. Could literally suck your blood out and you wouldn't even notice it. But no, they had to make their visit memorable and painful for hours, days even. Your arrogance and ungratefulness will be the end of your kind.

(through gritted teeth) there's so much to learn (through sobs) there's so much to learn (through maniacal laughter) there's so much to learn (through sleepy eyes) there's so much to learn (through a tired smile) there's so much to learn
It's all about connecting with others, is it not?
"Draw for yourself" is such bullshit.
Do actors act for themselves ?? No, they act for the applause. The validation. The encouragement. The feeling that they're doing a good job. The thrill of performing to people.
So why do artists get shoved in the box of not deserving validation ??
"Draw for yourself" is a terrible excuse. "Draw for yourself" indicates unwillingness to support an artist. "Draw for yourself" because I, saying this to an artist, am too lazy to boost their creations.
"Be okay creating for nothing". No. Entire capitalistic systems are beginning to collapse because people don't like doing shit for no reason. It's not even like anyone's demanding money ; just a pat on the head & a reblog here & there.
"Draw for yourself".
Why ??
Why not, instead ; "show your true colors, & we will appreciate them".

YES YES AND I COVER THE PARAGRAPHS WITH MY HAND SO I DON'T SPOIL IT TO MYSELF
i’m realizing that i have so much time. i have time to grow my hair long. i have time to cut it all off and then to grow it back again. i have time to discover new hobbies and give up on things that no longer serve me. i have time to grow and change and travel and change my opinions and live differently than how i am now. i have so much time. take a deep breath and slow down
im less of a "i can fix them" person and more of a "i can make them so happy n feel so loved that all of the bad things in their life will seem much more bearable bc they know theyll have me n my unwavering support through whatever" person
Whisper of the Heart (1995)
A little advice from someone studying extremist groups: if you’re in a social media environment where the daily ubiquitous message is that you have no hope of any kind of future and you can’t possibly achieve anything without a violent overthrow of society, you’re being radicalized, and not in the good way.
Not feminist as in "women should be included in the draft" but feminist as in "being drafted is a violation of bodily autonomy for any gender".
The draft should not exist. Drafting people into the military is a violation of human rights. You should not be able to force someone to risk their life. If you can't find enough people who care about a conflict to keep it going then it simply shouldn't keep going. You can't even force someone to donate a kidney using government power, why the fuck can you force them to donate their whole body and life to a cause they don't agree with or don't care about?
“When she jumped, she probably thought she would fly”
The Virgin Suicides, 1999
What makes Poor Things so ultimately triumphant for me is the way that Bella Baxter is, despite it all, her own creation. She came into the world in an experiment that violated the autonomy of both Victoria before her and Bella herself, but she steps beyond the parameters of the experiment and into the world, to learn from it. The intentions of men may be to possess her or use her or take joy in despoiling her vulnerability, but their intentions do not determine her experiences. She decides. She explores. She looks at a world full of sorrow that could render her helpless and chooses instead to do what she can about it and then sleep easy at night. She listens to the call of her curiosity before all else, her happiness second, her compassion third. The family that she makes for herself in the end is unconventional, but it's ultimately hers and allows her to flourish as a doctor with an experimental nature and a heart of patinaed silver.
And I don't think it could be that particular kind of triumphant if the movie wasn't so fucked up.

reminder that a career is worth nothing actually. you are your body and mind and friends and loved ones and the things you eat and cook and draw and make and care for. but you are not and have never once for a second been the job you do to make money to survive this shithole town*
