With Izuku's strong moral compass, of course he'll find Shigaraki’s crimes revolting. And him saying he couldn't forgive him is a valid feeling. What was impressive, though, was when he saw Shiggy’s face seemingly asking for help, he didn’t ignore it. Right there and then, he tried helping. It was beautiful.
The thing with Izuku is that when he sees an opportunity to help, he tries his best to act on it at that exact moment. Even at the tender age of 16. He's not just preaching about morals, he's also backing up his principles with actions.
But it’s also important to understand that he’s just a 16-year-old high schooler. In the grand scheme of things, even with the greatest quirk(s) ever at his disposal, Izuku is but a speck. He can only do so much. To rely solely on his actions to enact change in society when he’s just a boy is asking too much of him. It will do us well to remember that when their society relied on one man, All Might, it made society more susceptible to destruction.
So, no. You can’t expect Izuku’s accomplishments to just, you know, magically change society. It’s a long battle. Years of reconstruction and recovery.
The thing we need to remember is that for all the bad, Izuku didn’t cave, but thought about how he can solve the issues drowning him. Because all this boy ever wanted was to help. And help he did. It doesn’t matter if his help is just a blip compared to the massive scale of evil at play. What matters is he did. He tried. You cannot expect change if no one will start it, and, bless him, Izuku started it. Sparked a change so early, even, right from freaking episode 1.
If anything, it will be weird to me if no one from the adults will change their perspectives at the end of the manga. Because change will only happen if many are on board with it. And the more influence you have? The more likely you’d help Izuku with his efforts to help unconditionally.
If no adults support or guide Izuku as he wonders how evil will end? That will be so painfully realistic.
cw: swearing, death treats and shigaraki saying ‘kys’ (both as jokes)
these take place during the chapter theee of my fic (link to the series here)
might do smau of the groupchat
hope you enjoyed! 🩷
read 'the guy I was interested in wasn't a guy at all' and now all I can think about is an au where fem!shigaraki fucking hates the guts of the arsonist guy who joined her League of Villains because he's the exact type of villains she hates most: a rude and condescending misogynistic asshole (what right does he have to swagger around looking like he owns the place when he refuses to express an ounce of respect to her, his rightful leader, and is ugly as sin?!).
what tomura doesn't know is that dabi's experience as a scarred teenage girl on the streets with nothing to her name besides a dangerous quirk has led to her hiding her gender and acting as off-putting as possible in hopes other villains leave her alone and don't bother her about her body or appearance.

If Shouto didn’t know Touya had spiky hair from all the dye on his hair, three piercings on his nose, and half-removed black nail polish, he might not have recognized him. Shouto was too scared to approach Touya, in case he’d break. On the other hand, Giran got in with a pained look and shook hands with a young woman standing near the bed, Shouto had barely paid attention to her.
rody making it into the first top 20 of the worldwide best hero poll is so funny to me
all we have is a non-canon (?) movie and some scraps here and there but this fandom loves him so much to let him be forgotten
(he’s 17th in the japan top 20 so i guess the japaneses are the one voting for him. than you guys. he deserves it)
So Dabi and Toga joined the League together and Dabi and Compress work together really well, like know one another’s moves and can communicate great in battle. And Dabi is Tomura’s lieutenant and basically the guy actually in charge of planning and coordinating while Tomura’s got the vision and the resources. So I propose that the loyalty of the League is split between them. Cause like, what if Dabi joined and brought other recruits with him. Toga and Compress definitely, maybe Magne and Twice too. And that’s part of why Tomura lets him get away with so much and put him in charge of recruiting. Cause let’s be real, Dabi fries way too many people for him to keep that job if doesn’t already have some successes under his belt.
Anyway this post is a mess and I’m just gonna keep typing my train of thought about this and see where we end up now.
I just really love the partnership between Tomura and Dabi. It’s kinda hidden and definitely never explicitly stated, but Dabi is indisputably Tomura’s right hand man. Kurogiri follows his orders. But Tomura respects Dabi, and Dabi respects Tomura even if they suck at showing it. They listen to each other and are able to work together, sharing responsibility and trusting the other to be able to handle their shit. There’s still some friction of course, Tomura doesn’t trust Dabi’s interests to always align with his own and Dabi is only following Tomura because their interests align at the moment. And with like half the League being more loyal to Dabi than Tomura he’s gotta be a bit worried about a coup. That fear fades with time once he establishes that he actually cares about the league and shows it better than Dabi but it probably really affected their relationship at the beginning. Thus Tomura’s clumsy attempts to assert dominance over him
Also Dabi and Compress are totally tight. Pretty sure they were partners in crime before joining the league. Like imagine the possibilities with their quirks. Evidence disposal, theft, smuggling, intimidation, scams together the two of them could do anything! Compress has his anonymity, Dabi had his incredibly recognizable and scary face… they would be great.
Finally watched the first episode of MHA vigilantes and I just LOVE the artwork. I love how it looks like an animated comic book pop art especially the onomatopoeia in every action from physical and 'smirk'. I can't wait for the new episode!
Aizawa: Let’s not Deku this into a worse situation than it already is…
Deku: Did you just use my hero name as a verb?
