Erev Rosh Hashanah starts on October 2nd (Wednesday) running through October 4th (Friday)
Erev Yom Kippur starts October 11th (Friday)
Simchat Torah is October 24th into October 25th (Thursday into Friday)
*Sukkot starts October 16th (Wednesday) but most people don't take off for it to my knowledge
It's okay to form an opinion based on the information you have, but that also means you can't just ignore or dismiss any new information that contradicts that opinion or one that gives it a broader context.
