so last night, for the first time, a bunch of drunk undergrads found that we had the Canadian national anthem in the karaoke list and the whole gotdamned bar decided to stand and sing for it.
this in itself was funny enough, but i had been bussing a table of british international kids and now I’m struck with the thought that they now might assume ALL CANADIAN KARAOKE IS JUST. LIKE THIS
I love hearing these birds! Also, I was today years old when I learnd they are mourning doves and not morning doves. Rad!
that “whooo-oooh-ooh-ooh-ooh” sound mourning doves make, reblog if u agree
Yes, this is a weird layout! I wish I could see more of this house to give the basement staircase more context. It’s similar to the basement entrance in my (formerly) grandmother’s gorgeous house. For reference her house was in Taylorsville, Utah. I would guess it was built in the mid 1960’s. Very open plan concept. Home entrance at street level. Walk up 4 stone stairs to the main house. To the right is the sunken main living room if you walk down 2 steps. Enjoy the windows or the stone fireplace, and there is a half-wall behind the sofa, gorgeous, very open. At the home entrance to your left is the dining room. Big sliding glass door at the back leads to the fully landscaped backyard. Incorporated seamlessly as a divider between the living and dining rooms is the basement staircase (basically straight across from the house entrance).
Very demure.
This one makes me wonder if this originally had a sunken living room and the “sunken” was remodeled away. The result would be a very out of place staircase.
I see a human in the picture, but this post has such a delightful Hobbit energy. 💗💗💗
baps you on the head, lovingly. What are your top three favourite berries
(/bap'd)
I'm so glad you asked bc I do love a good berry. My favorite berry is any berry growing on a bush for me to eat! I go berry picking a lot, mostly to make jam, but I always keep some just to eat, and also I probably eat as many as I pick while I'm picking. Which slows down the process but I'm just a man.
No. 1 is salmonberries. I love the color & flavor variety! (the little blue berries are huckleberries). You can do so much with them, but they're delicious on their own, right off the bush.
For people with TikTok or Instagram, one of my dear mutuals, Madison Dawn (@ Alaskan8ive907 on both apps), is a Tlingit creator who makes a lot of very cool content about salmonberries and other foraging & fishing on Southeast Alaska's islands. Highly recommend!
One of my ALL TIME favorites is cloudberries (not pictured)! This can get confusing at times, because some people use "salmonberry" to refer to what I know as "cloudberries." It's a regional thing. I often follow the lead of my Indigenous friends and use the berry names in their languages to be more specific, but that doesn't always work either, depending on the language & place. There are so many names for beloved berries!!! I love them so much, I have 2 pairs of earrings by one of my fav artists, Siqiñiq Designs. This is my favorite pair! These are one of her many beautiful "aqpik" designs, the berry's name in more than one Inuit language:
I'm also a big fan of picking blueberries and blackberries!
Although admittedly I think blackberries are the most fun because you get so messy
I also love salal berries, mulberries, and black raspberries (not the same as blackberries)
Gonna try this fudgey mug.
Here is the fudgiest brownie in a mug recipe I’ve found

Okay I like it! But in RN school I used this trick to memorize supine - SUPine is when you lay down on your back and you can have a bowl of SoUP resting on your stomach . Prone is the opposite of soup - no soup because you are on your stomach. Don’t every body thank me all at once!
can I get a job as an editor but the only thing I do is correct when someone uses the word "prone" when they mean "supine"
2. Be a silly billy
PSA:
1. If you are not silly, it is vital you become silly
2. If you are silly, you must stay silly
2. If you used to be silly but have stopped, you must make all efforts to return to silliness
