Yea, especially since they only care about what jensen says and not how he acts or anything, cause jensen will seem like he supports destiel but never says it because if he says it, it could mess with his work opportunities and he could get death threats, and he's smart enough to know that and be careful not to say something that could cause it, I just hope he feels OK with confirming destiel on the supernatural podcast because that seems like the most likely place for him to confirm it
No, an actor does not owe anyone to say anything when it comes to a character they play but also cmon man, it has been 15 fucking years, you can literally put stop to this once and for all.
I let out the biggest sigh.
Dean's love for Castiel is literally something you can chart the growth of with data points. Just using Dean's reactions after each time Castiel dies.
Season 4: oh wow he died doing the hottest thing ever ('making it up as we go.') Nice.
Season 5: (no time to react before he's back) Are you literal god??
Season 7(first time) denial, then cursing cas out for his choices (ie, choosing crowley instead of dean... Big Feelings on display)
Season 7 (about 3 seconds after the first time in season 7): I'm going to be upset about this the rest of the year, have full on nightmare ptsd from it, and project it onto every relationship and interaction in my life from now on.
Season 8: I will be so traumatized by this that the memories won't even form properly and I won't even be able to SPEAK ABOUT IT AT ALL. Period.
Season 9: only about 6 seconds before he's back, but still a significant amount of wailing his name.
Season 12: depression, rage, eventual suicide
Season 15: Sobbing hysterically. Not even caring that Sam is calling because everyone is dead. Not giving a fuck about any other actual thing in the rest of the world no matter the stakes. Followed by:
'Castiel wants me to live, and I suppose I've internalized the message that I am not a terrible, unworthy person, so I will live and not kill myself so that his sacrifice means something. J/k thank god a fucking rebar. Don't call an ambulance. Don't bring me back. Please let me die.'

I just thought, what if the reason Chris was so emotionally distant to Eddie during the long distance is because he thought Eddie was mad at him/didn't want him anymore cause Chris left him and the Diaz parents only reinforced that idea with all their comments about Eddie not being fit to raise Chris
Saving this for later because FUCKING KRIPKE shipped destiel and is probably the one that started it when cas became popular and ended up staying longer than they first thought
“(Dean would) be attracted to someone who walked in the door, slaughtered everybody and walked out, and then he would say, “Who’s that?””-Eric Kripke
Dean. Watching this. Amazed.-Script for Supernatural S5EP01: Sympathy For The Devil (2009))
As a usually casual watcher, I'd say 6 and down is where it becomes more headcanon than Canon and 7 to 10 is where it's more Canon because 7 is where it's basically Canon but for whatever reason it's not confirmed and then 8 to 10 is Canon even if some people don't know if an 8 is Canon from casually watching
So I've been thinking about @macdenlover 's "levels of headcanon" chart (about how heavily a HC is influenced by canon), so I decided to make my own scale about how likely a HC is to be true (including different levels of canon) using queer cartoon characters as examples :)
I just spent an hour making this because I was bored. Enjoy. Image description under the cut.

[ID: a chart going from 10 to 1, with explanations of the ratings on the left and images of characters with queer flags and descriptions of said characters on the right.
10: "Explicit canon. Clearly stated in the original media." Trans Barney from Dead end Paranormal Park. "Barney says "I'm transgender"".
9: "Implicit canon. Never explicitly stated, but 100% canon in the original media". Nonbinary Raine from The Owl House. "Raine never says "I'm nonbinary," but uses they/them and is never referred to as a man/woman (also, confirmed by Dana)".
8: "Creator confirmation. Never stated in the original media, but confirmed canon by the media's creator". Aroace Lilith from The Owl House. "While never mentioned/implied in TOH, Dana has confirmed that Lilith is aroace".
7: "Heavily implied. Never confirmed, but likely true (either by canon evidence or creator implication)". Genderfluid Nimona from Nimona. ""Aaand now you're a boy" "I am today" (anyway, the whole movie has trans/GNC themes)".
6: "Possibly implied. Hinted at in the original media, but could be explained as something else". Trans Doofenschmirtz from Phineas and Ferb. "Doof COULD be transmasc, or the whole "raised as a girl" thing could just be for the bit".
5: "Fanon. Never confirmed, but generally accepted by the fandom". Aromantic Alastor from Hazbin Hotel. "While only confirmed to be ace, most of the fandom also sees Alastor as aromantic".
4: "HC with evidence. Headcanons supported by a dedicated fan's detective work". Bisexual Mabel from Gravity Falls. "People have noticed bi flag stickers hidden on Mabel's scrapbooks".
3: "Canon neutrality. Could be true, could be false, but overall makes sense and doesn't contradict the original media". Genderqueer Pleakley from Lilo and Stitch. "Maybe Pleakley is genderqueer, maybe he just wanted to crossdress for the mission, who knows? That's why it's a headcanon."
2: "I made it the fuck up. Based on vibes, has absolutely nothing to do with canon". Bisexual Megamind from Megamind. "No evidence, no explanation, he just has Disaster Bi™ vibes".
1: "Um? No? But go off. Directly contradicts canon (but who cares, that's why it's fun)". Trans Stanley Pines from Gravity Falls. "Even though flashback scenes prove Stan is AMAB, some people HC him as transmasc." End of ID.]
And also this was mostly before gay marriage was even legal and was not a very accepting thing in like public and society so it's not like Dean would be safe openly flirting with guys and expecting a relationship/hookup so it would make sense that Dean was like always bi and Sam knew but Dean wasn't openly bi because there was still alot of homophobia at the time and they had enough trouble with supernatural problems that Dean wouldn't want to deal with societal problems on top of that, and Dean is known to dislike conservative redneck type of people who are very often homophobic
I absolutely love it when, in fanfics, Dean is absolutely shocked that Sam knew of his bisexuality. It's like my favourite part of any destiel fic.
But every time I watch Supernatural, I see a (mostly unspoken) understanding between the brothers.
Like Dean will shamelessly flirt with or check out men around Sam, and Sam never bats an eye.
When Sam called Dean out on how him being "butch" might make people think he's overcompensating, Dean just said "right" all awkwardly.
When Dean spoke of his relationship with Benny to Sam, he used the word "relationship" without worrying about the implications of it (even if they weren't actually in a relationship)
When Dean told Sam that Aaron was his "gay thing," Sam moved on from it almost instantly, and Dean never felt the need to explain it away.
When Dean was flirting with that male cop, Sam had to pull him away, and Sam's only expression was annoyed.
Before Sam knew sirens could sire people without sex, he didn't react when Dean's siren was a man.
When Dean meets his celebrity crushes, he gets all flustered, and Sam is never bothered (confused, shocked, etc)
Dean will make queer references
Sam will make little comments ("...or are you strictly into Dick now?", "I forgot about you and Crowley's summer of love", etc)
I don't think either of them are unaware of the other's knowledge.
They both know, and they both know that the other knows.
Even people like Cain (who had a total of 2 conversations with Dean and barely even a conversation with cas) clocked that Dean and Cas were inlove, like Cain told Dean about his past then the next conversation Cain put the people in deans life in the positions of people that were in cains life, Crowley's the acquaintance/friend that Dean would need a reason to kill but it's not a big deal for Dean to kill Crowley, but then the only person Cain talked about killing that actually hurt to kill (that wasn't his brother) was Collette then Cain clocked that Dean killing cas would hurt Dean just like it hurt Cain to kill Collette, and then of course ending with Sam his brother, and Cain made it a point to say that Dean was living cains life in reverse and purposely made a point that Dean killing cas would hurt Dean alot
how the hell does everybody in this damn show fully believe that dean and cas are gay for each other except for dean and cas
This is why I don't get why some people think destiel shippers hate Sam, like yes we ignore him alot but we don't hate him, he's the only person that has to deal with Dean and cas' pining and longing 24/7, he's the only character that has seen most of what the fans see and we relate to him having to watch those two men be so inlove but be too stupid to actually get together
Gotta respect Supernatural for how it always committed to making Sam be like "Cas is fine Dean, really, please don't kill yourself I'mbegging" every time Cas went MIA
Says the one actively ignoring stuff in the literal show just because you can't see the obvious

By consequences work wise I'm meaning the cw giving jensen a bad rep for supporting destiel since the cw are the ones that short down most of the writers' attempts to make destiel explicit, like an old boss telling someone who wants to hire you that you are untrustworthy and not a team player, atleast that's what I assume is what makes him tiptoe around destiel all the time
But you are correct that most people don't care about destiel, and it probably wouldn't affect him that much if he did admit that it's reciprocated, or atleast wouldn't affect him in the long run
