i love the process of learning who my characters are as i write them
addison started out as just a smart, analytical person but now i have learnt that she is also someone who actively ranks conversations with her new coworker in her head based off of if she thinks she did well at social interaction. she's very well adjusted :)
can't wait to get into Dahlia's pov and discover what sort of weirdo she is in her internal monologue too
thinking about that post of people assuming ao3 has an algorithm and also about how bonkers persistent the view is that ao3 is social media lite. like with startling regularity I get comments saying something along the lines of "it's probably weird to comment on a fic this old--" no it isn't!!!! this is an archive I am literally just assuming you searched for a selection of specific tags or sorted by kudos or looked back on my pseud or any other number of completely normal ways to use an archive site ?? kill the tiktok ghost in your brain and comment on old stuff it's NOT weird
When you have a moment, please read this X/Twitter thread from Sam, aka, TheScruffyCat. It has very important information about mentioning Zines in the descriptions of fics. Their AO3 account has been suspended because of a rule AO3 has on monetary use of fanfiction, which at this moment doesn’t directly mention Zines, but they appear to be included. So even mentioning a Zine (even one that is for charity and/or free) can put your account in hot water.
This might even apply to comments (which has some BAD implications), but they haven’t heard back on that yet.
They have said that is may be specifically because of mentioning the sale of a Zine, but just to be safe they have concluded:
Text on photo:
- don't mention zines anywhere on your ao3
- not even charity zines
- not even a passing "i'm working on a zine fic" in the description of an unrelated fic
- not even in comments
- delete any comments from others mentioning zines (even nice comments :'( )
Please reblog or send this to your author friends if they write on AO3. Thank you!
When you finally won the battle of opening up your WIP to edit but your brain is fighting you on touching the document so you’re in paralysis like
Whumpee shows up to work lethargic and crabby. Halfway through the morning they have to run to the bathroom to be sick. The Team teases them lightheartedly.
"Must have been some night out!"
"Had a party and didn't invite us?"
This happens more than once; Whumpee gains a reputation as a party person. They don't deny it.
Little do the Team know, Whumpee's occasional condition has nothing to do with having fun.
Me: I’m a writer
Also me: *doesn’t write*
I got blood inside my phone charging port and now it only works 50% of the time
I mean this literally, your favorite game? Play it with your character!
Put your character in The Sims and see what they do. Play The Walking Dead, but make all the choices your character would make. Cards Against Humanity, but your character has to answer everything.
As weird as this sounds, it's a great way to get to know your characters better, and the best part is that you can do it with pretty much any game you like!
