Absolutely obsessed with your santos and Whitaker headcanons please keep them coming! I’ve gone through all the fics on ao3 already lol
thank you! it's nearing the end of the school year for me, so unfortunately i'm too busy to make much fanfiction/art for them even though i dabble in both.
here's more headcanons, because i can't stop thinking about them:
santos has a major sweet tooth. once or twice a week, she buys herself an iced mocha and a slice of strawberry cake from this cafe that's en route to the hospital.
whitaker's bible has a small lamb embroidered onto the front. it's one of the two belongings he still has from nebraska. the other is a sweatshirt from the university he did his undergrad at.
she has to keep an eye on whitaker at all times when they visit the local asian market because he's too busy staring in awe to notice what's going on around him.
whitaker is very obsessed with banana sauce. he puts it on everything once he's tried it.
santos gave him buldak ramen without telling him how spicy it was once. it was funny for about a minute until she realized that this white boy really can't handle spicy food. he tries eating the whole thing because wasting food makes him feel guilty. santos stops him after 3-4 bites because this looks like actual, physical torture for the guy. she still makes fun of him after, of course. while handing him the whole milk jug.
santos gets way too into his stories about animal slaughter. one time he had to leave in the middle of talking about how he dissected a rat when he was first curious about studying medicine and the first thing she did when she saw him again was demand to hear the rest.
Santos deffo gives big soccer lesbian vibes, I could see her playing field hockey or lacrosse too: the girls who run around in fields with sticks are brutal. but the gymnast idea really gives ties to the CSA Santos experienced, with a lot of people still remembering the Larry Nassar thing, and the Pitt really has to fit in maximum impact with details because they will never have a chance to devote more than a short convo onscreen to anyone’s personal life troubles. So it makes sense, even if Santos in cleats and sports bra feels more natural than Santos in a sparkly leotard
you're right, about all of this. honestly, the more i think about it, the more gymnast santos seems right for her character. i'm hoping we get to know more about her as a gymnast in the following season(s).
"I guess things haven't been easy without me."
Karma Episode 5: Rewind
Park Haesoo the man that you are
the pitt is crazy from a storytelling perspective because usually you sort of focus on one main plot point and it culminates over an arc so you have the time to have a dramatic chekhov's gun moment but this is one day in the ER so shit just keeps happening and gets resolved and happens again in a disjointed rhythm so instead you get chekhov's gun and chekhov's knife and chekhov's pregnancy test and chekhov's rats and chekhov's fourth set of scrubs and you have no idea when any of them are gonna fire.
so, when they're all sitting together and sharing their names in the fourth episode, ali reveals that he's been under the assumption that gi-hun's name is ssangmun-dong.
which means that whenever gi-hun started praising sang-woo by calling him the pride of ssangmun-dong, he thought... oh, i need to sit down for this...
Let’s talk about how Gihun felt watching the other players in the pentathlon.
He’s not stupid. He knows he has to pick his battles to win this war. He knows he is powerless without allies. He went into the games alone with faith in his heart that people will help him and make the right choice.
But some of that faith is challenged—they lose the first vote. Surely they’ll win the next vote after more players see the brutality of the second game when he has no knowledge of it to protect them.
Still, he has to watch players wearing red patches get gunned down. He has to watch them die knowing they wanted to leave and he failed to sway the votes, knowing his efforts backfired and feeling the weight of that.
He watches the clock with bated breath, shakes when bodies hit the dirt, cheers like he’s won big at the tracks when players pass.
What an intense experience it must have been for him.
