What’s one of your favorite jokes? Tell it to us!
sometimes I like to imagine gameplay differences between oblivion and skyrim as regional habits.
like, mages in cyrodiil are usually taught to cast spells with their wrist/elbow as the main channel of arcane energy, which means they can cast spells with a weapon in their hand. or a cyrod alchemist might become flabbergasted by a northerner's complete lack of "on-the-go" alchemy equipment, as being able to make tonics and elixirs on the field is common practice in the heartlands.
meanwhile, skyrim's practices are shaped less by standardized techniques and more by tradition, the preference of the teacher, and superstition. like, a nord mage may know how to cast without directing magic directly through their hand/fingers but when asked about it, they'll tell you to do so is disrespectful. likewise, it's most common to make potions in advance at a proper alchemy table.
and yeah if the two were to meet they might get into a very heated debate about it.
holy shit
nicholassteinbergphotography “Cotton candy Waves” Here’s a time lapse from my shot Cotton Candy Waves. As opposed to a long exposure, this was shot with successive shorter exposures to show movement and texture. Love how mesmerizing the fog is.
Enjoying some quality time with bae until your baka little brother has to interrupt. We were having a moment, Genji. The wolves were howling for us.
Made myself sad thinking about Verandis so now I need to share:
The Gray Host were 'defeated' in 1E 1029 - so Verandis would have left them some time before then.
The events of ESO take place in 2E 582 - some 2,473 years later (if I understand the maths of the Elder Scrolls timekeeping - feel free to correct me).
We don't know exactly when Verandis started taking in other vampires. Adusa in particular has very little to indicate how long she's been part of the Ravenwatch. But Gwendis is a relatively new addition given how Rivenspire plot dialogue tends to paint her as inexperienced and only just out of being actively trained and mentored. I imagine Melina probably joined shortly after, given the tone of her enchanter hireling letters. Fennorian we can pin down a little more - the Meet the Character short confirms he was brought in after Gwendis, and within a relatively short amount of time (it's vague, but multiple visits from the narrator implies months, perhaps a year, but unlikely much more than that) was investigating Unhallowed Grave. And of course, every other named vampire is someone the Vestige spares and guides towards the Ravenwatch, so we know exactly when they show up. Regardless of exact timing, the Ravenwatch as a group is a relatively new concept.
This implies that either: Verandis has been entirely alone for over two thousand years or that any previous attempts to rehabilitate vampires have failed (either by them being killed or by them failing to uphold their oaths). Either scenario is pretty tragic anyway.
Then consider that he has only managed to successfully form this family in the last...hundred years, maybe? And that's only if we assume Adusa is pretty old, but she really isn't giving us much to go on. Everyone else joined the Ravenwatch probably within the last decade, most far more recently than even that. He has had a family of his own for such a short amount of time, and then he sacrifices himself to keep everyone safe. And sure, he gets to come back, but then he's forcibly separated from them by the tether to the Dark Heart. He might still be around, he can be visited, but he can't ever live with his family. And they can't live with him.
