I just remembered my second Pride, where I made different flag themed daisy chain bracelets/necklaces to hand out. I need folks to understand something:

They were free.

They were fucking free.

They were maybe ¢60 of acrylic yarn each at the most, and the whole ziploc bag of them took 2 hours max.

Three people gave me sad eyes until I took their money.

Someone who was clearly the mom friend of their group made me take a $5 and gave a 10 minute pep talk.

At least four more people insisted on getting change to pay for the, once again, free bracelets.

In spite of all these shenanigans, the absolute best was this one person who I can only describe as, “queer surfer dude who looks like a boyfriend who looks like a girlfriend.” I can remember nothing of the outfit, only the impeccable vibes. I did the same thing I did with everyone else, explaining the bracelets were free, and they nodded along as they took the last 6 strand rainbow bracelet. As soon as they had it on their wrist, they pointed at something over my shoulder and, like a fool, I looked.

Next thing I know, they’re running off cackling, yelling, “YOU’LL NEVER CATCH ME!” and I’m holding a fucking $20. I had to stop at least two people from chasing them, cause they thought the person stole something, and then they tried to give me money cause they thought it was funny seeing me flail over people being Too Nice.

That was the year I got reverse-robbed at Pride. I hope everyone out there is having a good time and, in particular, that queer surfer dude is out there still causing benevolent chaos.

Jason Carver is many things: rude, condescending, hot-headed. But if there’s one thing he knows how to do well, it’s scout fun locations to get fucked up in.

Abandoned warehouses on the outskirts of town, convention halls after hours, and even once, the entertainers’ tent when the circus was performing in Hawkins. You still had no idea how he’d managed to convince them to facilitate a party for a bunch of rowdy teens.

You hadn’t attended many, despite the invitation often being extended (perks of being a cheerleader, you guessed), because the promise of an incredible night didn’t seem worth the worry of how you’d be getting home. That was, until you met Eddie.

“You still sure this is a good idea?” He asked for the third time as you rounded up the path, toward an old, broken radio tower. The music was already thumping, the soundwaves travelling across the field up through your ankles.

In response, you linked your arm through his, giving his bicep a playful pinch. “Nope. But it’s a fun one.”

Stylized Viktor Proportions

Did a simple guide of Viktor's body proportions (in a very stylized version) for myself. Figured I'd share here.

Me: Yeah Jayvik is a cute ship in fanon, but I don't think there's any sign of it becoming canon to any degree sadly :/

Canon:

When Jayce and Viktor meet Mel, the camera focusses on Jayce watching her leave with a fawning expression, meanwhile Viktor watches Jayce with a twinge of sadness.

The way Jayce puts him arm around Viktor and says "You should come up with me, we're partners" and Viktor begins to refuse, but he hesitates slightly after looks into Jayce's eyes like this

The way Jayce and Mel's sex scene was intercut with not just Viktor dying, but Viktor rejecting affection from a woman who clearly had interest in him. Both because his project had taken over his life, but also perhaps a sign that his romantic interests lay elsewhere. He could have what Jayce has (romantic/sexual intimacy with a woman) but he doesn't want it.

How in that very same scene as Jayce and Mel climaxed, Viktor collapsed as though wounded or hurt by their act, betrayed even. The way the camera cuts from the scenes of intimacy, to Viktor's eyes made me question whether Viktor was witnessing Jayce and Mel. It was a scene that felt like betrayal despite both events being completely unconnected.

The way we cut from Mel lying alone in her bed after Jayce left abruptly, to the perfect parallel of Viktor in his hospital bed with Jayce waiting by his side.

That it is constantly shown as a choice for Jayce. To choose between Mel or Viktor, but he can't have both. That the two are seen as equally as important to him and it is an intense struggle for him to make that choice.

When Viktor looks at Jayce like this.

When Jayce confronts Ambessa, and is forced to watch her be intimate with her boytoy that bears a resemblance to Viktor (especially with the exact same placement of a mole), and Jayce becomes agitated quickly.

The betrayed/affronted expression Viktor gives when Mel suggests military action in Zaun, and Mel outright ignores his protest and tries to convince Jayce, to which Jayce stands to speak with Mel, effectively cutting Viktor (who is sat down) out of the exchange. The sense of rivalry between Mel and Viktor, as though competing for the same man.

"There is Always a choice" Viktor says, after Mel leaves. Indirectly asking Jayce to choose his way forward, and by extension, to choose him rather than Mel.

They are each other's saviours.
