It's been a while I didn't share something here on tumblr so... Hi hi!

I forgot about zutara week and when I remembered I was sketching this and realized it didn't match with any day theme. q_q

So here it is! A day later, a momtara and dadko argument with poor Sokka in the middle! LOL

he's very good at masking about 90% of the time

struggles with social cues sometimes?

he walks a very odd line between missing social cues because autism and being hyperaware of social cues because abuse victim

positive attention is a little foreign to him - people flirt with him all the time and he just barrels right on through

he scripts things out everything. practices random conversations with turtleducks. has entire scrolls of "what to say if..." laying around his room.

unrelated but his customer service voice is ever-present in Official Political Meetings

a fascinating special interest in tea

can and will infodump at the drop of a hat

lots of finger stims (they're small and easy to hide)

facial expressions mean nothing folks

super smooth fabrics bother him

he doesn't really like how fire feels - his own is pretty nice, and aang's is usually okay, but everyone else's is sketchy

hates hates hates the texture of his scar

listen zuko just infodumps a lot

No, but what if Zuko is adopted by the Avatar Spirit? Not Aang, but the World-Spirit-that-resides-in-him specifically. Just imagine: the Avatar state is said to strip away all semblance of self but Aang can't help the disbelief as his mouth form the words "GO TO YOUR ROOM"

I feel like this is a hilarious addition to the "someone adopts Zuko" trope. @muffinlance, this is funnier if it's Zuko-pre-redemption, right? Everyone would be SO confused.

I have always been a die-hard Zutara shipper, but someone recommended THIS short fic last week, and now I’ve been on a Zukka binge ever since 😭 Doodled up my favorite scene from mindbending ‘s fic, “A Predictable Story” on AO3 in appreciation for being a great first Zukka experience 💕

Artist Zuko really is one of the best things in the world!!😍

HE IS!! I love the idea of it being therapeutic for him (hence his characterization in All the Lights are Shining). I also love the idea of him just being super casual about it. I headcanon that it was something he had to learn as part of his formal education like all of the other noble kids, but he just became exceptional at it. His mother encouraged him (of course) and Iroh continued to do so once Zuko was in his care. So Zuko is just like, “Yeah. This is a skill I was required to learn, but it’s also one of my favorite hobbies and it helps me work through all of my emotions and trauma. And I guess I’m kind of decent at it?”

Also, when the Gaang finds out he can draw, Suki and Toph mercilessly tease Sokka about how much better an artist Zuko is than him. And Katara and Aang want Zuko to teach them how to draw. They keep asking him and he finally relents. It turns out Aang is pretty decent, but Katara is just as bad as Sokka. Zuko is just perplexed by that because Katara excels at so many things, so how is she so bad at this?

(I just have a lot of ideas surrounding artist!Zuko. 🥰)
