This is kinda weird, but it icks me out whenever somebody calls me "acearo"

Like it's not enough for me to correct them, and I'm certainly not gonna tell other aspecs what to do, but for some reason aroace is the correct way to order it in my mind.

My guess is that it's because my aro-ness has always been more important to my identity to me? Sex has always been something like "oh yeah that's a thing ig, just not my thing", whereas with romance it's always around me, and I feel the lack of it a lot more strongly. And I also just have odd preferences about the way I list things just in general, but yeah

Is this just a me thing, or do other aroaces have opinions on the way people say their identity?

that makes a lot of sense! i've not heard many (or any?) people say acearo, but for someone who feels a stronger connection to being aro, i get how that feels wrong. i'm sure there are others who feel the same way, feel free to comment/reblog if you do!

i keep seeing misinformation about this, so: queerplatonic relationships do not have a set definition. the name comes from the idea that it's "queering" the platonic relationship, tailoring it to the individual relationships' own desires. it isn't necessarily romance lite, but it also isn't necessarily whatever definition you want to impose on it. the point of queering the platonic relationship is to break away from strict allonormative views on friendship, romance, and sex, not to make a new categorical box to fit in.

the answer to "what is a qpr?" is "whatever you want it to be." sometimes that is romance lite. sometimes it's a deeply committed friendship. sometimes it's friends who have a sexual relationship. sometimes it's based on an entirely different mode of attraction. sometimes it's fluid and impossible to put into words. it's whatever you want it to be. it's queer.

@sfdsds They indeed use the leftover sawdust like material and mix it with riverclay and use it to cover the floors and walls of the inner rooms of their nests. The entranceway does not have this because it might get wet when it rains and then it would just be an absolute muddy mess. The wood clay along with providing extra insulation makes it so the Pygmies wont get splinters from the floor.

In Fact we have news! the Pygmies Nest has been completed! so you can see the new rooms :)

We have seen the entrance area before. but as many of you might have noticed there is in fact some some tunnels branching off into other rooms! The tunnel on the left farthest from the rocks leads to the personal nesting areas.

The Dust Pygmy appears to be sleeping on his recently finished bed :) We should leave before we disturb his rest.

Moving onto the Pygmy Horror's room we can see he is finishing up making his bed!

The Pygmy nightmare is resting in his chambers as well! @topazshadowwolf It seems That This species do in fact enjoy decorating their nests! This Nightmare seems very pleased with his gem :) this knowledge will be valuable in understanding the behaviors of these particular species of Pygmy!

This is The Cross Pygmy's nest area. He seems to be elsewhere at the moment however.

Hmmm it seems the Killer Pygmy's nest room is vacant as well. I wonder where he might have gone?

To continue our little tour we need to return to the entrance area in order to go into the tunnel on the right, closest to the stones. This tunnel leads to the storage area and extra rooms!

Here is an extra room. it will most likely be a Gang meetingplace and hangout area. It seems we have also located the Cross Pygmy! He seems to be checking on the woodclay to make sure it is dry. Though still no sign of the Killer Pygmy? Hmm well we will continue the tour through the lower tunnel. This tunnel leads to the storage area for food and such

!? oh! it seems our little sneaky thief is snitching berries before mealtime! what a little troublemaker :) It seems the storage is already stocked with food. This is a sign of a good and healthy Gang of Pygmies :D This nest will likely be expanded and decorated as the Pygmies continue to make themselves feel more and more at home.

we should leave the Gang to their business now. I wonder what we will witness next in the lives of these incredible little creatures :)

synopsis: h retelling of the romcom, “how to lose a guy in ten days” karkat has to write an article about how to lose a guy in ten days, and dave has a bet that he can find a guy to take to his sisters wedding. very silly :)

thoughts: there’s so many moments where i was cringing SO HARD. but it’s such a fun time, especially if you like cheesy romcom retellings. like karkat trying desperately to lose dave is so funny 😭 (you will see later that i am a big fan of cheesy romcom stories, so i’m sorry LOL).

Nothingbound by bluberi (unfinished)

synopsis: a retelling of the romcom, “you’ve got mail” karkat is a local bookstore owner, and dave’s brother is a chain bookstore owner, and is moving in across the street. the only solace karkat seems to find is in his online friend, who is actually his enemy all along. angst ensues, drama, enemies to lovers, slowburn etc etc. :D

thoughts: speaking of romcom retellings… this one is unfinished, but the chapters there are so much fun. i adore the art that goes along with it. and just how silly, and angsty it can be. the dave and karkat are SPOT ON. and same with all the other characters. i especially enjoy rosemary, and the ones who work at karkats book store :)

Doc Scratch's School for Supernaturally Gifted Adolescents by medical (finished)

synopsis: humanstuck superhero au. dave and his friends get a mysterious letter to attend a supernatural school.

thoughts: literally in my top three favorite homestuck fics of all time. this is so much more than just a davekat fic, like it’s a *whole* story. there’s also incredibly prominent rosemary, like they are not just shoved to the back. again it’s so thought out, and incredibly tropey. and all the characters are handled so well. it’s so incredibly fanfiction, but in the way where you can’t stop reading it. it’s popular for a reason, and very much deserves that popularity. i’m currently making my friend buddy read this with me <3

thoughts: SO SO CUTE. i will recommend you try literally any fic by strawberrystardust, they are all incredibly, and they are such an amazing writer. please look into the tws for their other fics, but i literally cannot recommend them enough :)

thoughts:

TOP THREE HOMESTUCK FICS AGAIN. this one is SO SILLY, it captures everything about rosemary perfectly. the cringe fail of it all, the rose thinking she’s a therapist but instead just over sharing her family’s issues online. it’s so funny, and well written. and i say this as someone who HATES first person pov in fics. it is done incredibly well. like, this author manages to pull it all off. rose’s blog post are so funny, and it will have you smiling like a fool the whole time. this and doc scratch school, and house of dirk are definitely like fics id want you to read the most out of this list!! :)

Kiss Her You Fool by Paech (oneshot)

synopsis: rose tries to get kanaya to kiss her

thoughts: incredibly cute, i love them so so much. rose lalonde will forever be a mess, and i love that for her <3

synopsis: rose is convinced she’s in a war with dave, of which one is “gayer” to win she fakes dates kanaya.

thoughts: ajdhajhshej, this one is so 😭😭 like vrisrezi is also there and they are all failing, they are all a mess. the synopsis makes it sound more serious, but they are in meteorstuck, and it’s just very very funny LOL

synopsis: basically a, “what if” different ending to homestuck. what if, instead of winning, they let their alpha selves win, and they had to stay in paradox space for the time loop? etc

thoughts: i have not finished it, but it’s honestly so well put together. it really gets you feeling bad for characters, like gamzee?? poor little guy etc. the art is amazing, and it really does just feel like a continuation of homestuck!!!

Karkat Goes to a Convention (unfinished?) (mspfa)

synopsis: just like the title says, LOL.

thoughts: i’m not sure if this story is really my jam, that being said, it’s put together WONDERFULLY. like it’s incredibly popular for a reason. you can tell so much work went into it, and just a really big love for homestuck and it’s community. while also being really creative :) (i also haven’t finished this one either, so maybe my thoughts could change!)

House of Dirk by imarriedacherub (unfinished) (visual!)

synopsis: sitcom of dirk and caliborns life as a married couple. and their son/son in law is coming over for dinner. shenanigans ensue

thoughts: OKAY, so i know this is the fic that prompted the ask, lol! which means i’ve already recommended it. but i decided to add it so i could post my thoughts! :D i did not have any feelings towards dirkuu when i first read this, but now whenever i see anything dirkuu i’m like, “omg…the sitcom couple…” ITS JUST SUCH A GOOD FIC. i keep overusing the word incredible in this post, but i will use it again. because this fic really is just *that good*. i made my friend voice act it out with me on call once, and it was very fun LOL. this is my final top 3 in my top three homestuck fics 🕺 again really popular, but popular for a reason. just so much thought went into it, and the execution was perfect.

synopsis: terezi and jade go on a picnic date! :)

thoughts: have i ever thought about shipping terezi, and jade before? admittedly, no. is this fic absolutely adorable?? yes, very much so!!! literally they both deserve the world, and it’s so cute to seem them interact with each other. again just a very very sweet fic :)

homestuck v2 (mspfa) (ongoing!)

synopsis: different new generation kids!! davekat fanchild comes in and messes up timelines.

thoughts: the art is so good!! i’m really looking forward to where the story goes, and i love the designs. davekat having a child named, “mary-su” is hilarious as it is genius. also babe coelho seems so beloved!!!

I am someone who faints and has REALLY bad hypersomnia and extremely bad pain and blood which makes me sleep more, when on my period I'll just sleep for a week straight no food if I'm forced awake I will hurt someone's feelings cause I'm just pissed all the time I hate having no control of myself but I found the depo birth control shot it takes away blood and pain so it's like I never had my period to begin with. Its good and I get a shot every three months and I'm good to go. I would tell my not out to parents trans masc friends about it cause I thought it might help with dysphoria. I don't know how it would react to hormones that some trans masc people might take but if it sounds like something you might want ask a doctor about it.

man I don’t think people know how much work having your period can be and yes this also includes AFAB people.

Like, damn, if I’m having a good week I only need to take a couple pain killers, sleep maybe 7 hours with nightmares, I’m exhausted and don’t miraculously bleed all over my clothes

If I’m having a truly bad week I’m on pain killers 24/7 and if I don’t take them enough the pain wakes me up at night so crippling that I just want to pass out, I am so nauseous I cannot eat or move quickly, I bleed so much I can’t move around properly, I’m irritable and everything takes too much fucking energy to the point where having a meal becomes a concern, there’s nightmares every time I sleep and I get maybe five hours

And like, it could still be worse. My cousin regularly faints, I could be throwing up too

And it’s just bewildering to me that I am expected to operate as usual when I feel fucking awful, even though I already am medicating for it and all advice boils down to “take the pill and ibuprofen” like it is normal to expect someone to be reliant on pain medication and the pill for 3 decades.

Like it’s okay to tell a 15 year old kid they’ll most likely always spent nearly full 8 years of their entire life in excruciating pain because there’s no other fucking treatment for this????

I want to say one more thing as a cis person who experimented with labels over the years, questioned my gender, and ended up as cis after all. The trans community did not "indoctrinate" me. I had always been asking these questions, even as a little kid before I knew trans people even existed. Over the years, trans women gave me the courage to explore the femininity I wasted my youth denying, trans men taught me that manhood is what you make of it and that nobody could tell me how to define it, and nonbinary people taught me just how limitless my possibilities were. The only parts of my upbringing that left me "confused" about gender were the conservatives who imposed a vision of gender that my friends and I could not relate to. And when I realized trans identity wasn't something I could claim after all, the community loved me all the same. I am happier, and the world is more beautiful, because of trans people. The human impulse to create and survive isn't going anywhere, and neither are trans people.
