On April 16th 2025 The US Federal Government Has Proposed To Change The Interpretation Of The Endangered

On April 16th 2025 the US federal government has proposed to change the interpretation of the endangered species act so that it no longer protects habitat.

This is open for public comment until the end of May 19th. Please comment and make your voice heard.

Wildlife need their habitat. If the ESA redefines harm so that habitat is no longer protected, the implications for wildlife would be catastrophic.

The Lovers.

The lovers.

Based off the statue Paolo e Virginia by Alessandro Puttinati.

Whoops. I made Rue look too small, cursed weird dog legs! Oh well, I'll just say that they glamoured themself to looks shorter than Hob to pay better homage to the statue.

Some initial thoughts and feelings about the Wizard the Witch and the Wild One (as well as the childrens adventure) now that I've heard all three of the Then & Now sneak peeks.

The Wizard- This was one hell of a first introduction. I sobbed, and I'm not exaggerating. I was gross and snotty and red eyed within the first thirty minutes. Aabria's description's of Suvi's parents and Suvi herself was such a gut punch. And then the time jump happens and my desire to protect this child perfectly morphed into the desire to see this young woman, this young wizard, succeed.

The Witch- I can't say it better then the cast already did, the two genders, Trauma and Joy. I went into this preview bracing myself for more crying. Instead what I got was just so charming and delightful and funny and cute. It really made me so excited for the Witch class as a concept. The birds and the bees moment especially, it really made it feel different from other magic user classes. I can't wait to see what Erika does with it.

The Wild One- The beginning of this preview was wonderful in the most base sense of the word. It inspired wonder. Just the image of countless little spirits running around and weaving between the legs of one giant powerful bear spirit will live with me forever. I want to be there. The tenderness too was overwhelming. Eursulon as a little cub, and the love Lou clearly has for that character, just flowed out through him. It was great to see a snippet of all our main characters interacting in the end. Just getting a sense of what their dynamic might be like was so fun.

Overall I am so extreamly excited for both the main campaign and also (maybe even more so?) the children's story. The sound design was amazing. It really added so much to the experience. It made it more of an auditory theatrical experience more than just a podcast. The world already feels so rich and real and lived it and we haven't even gotten the first real episode. I already feel protective of and in love with these characters and I can't wait to see the epic adventures and journeys they go on. March can't come fast enough.

I've been scrolling through Glass Onion posts for days and I've never seen someone else see Derol as a personification of the pandemic when he carRIES AROUND CORONA BEERS all the time??

He's always like "oh don't mind me, I'm not even here", showing how those rich people on their private islands loved to act like the pandemic isn't real just because in their little rich people world they were able to act like it's all just a figment of others' imagination while people were literally dying

But no, they're not doing anything bad, they're only meeting up with their 'closest friends' (like Birdie's party in the beginning of the movie), they're isolating themselves from the 'general masses' in their huge, luxurious mansions and on their private islands and then make a show of singing Imagine💀

Derol is the ghost of corona floating over everyone's head which those people on this billionaire's little island have the luxury of ignoring

Captain Carrot Ironfoundersson is literature's best King.

'But he ain't the king!' I hear you cry. Even though everyone knows better. He's the King of Ahnk Morpork, by birthright and fact. It's hard to deny, given all the evidence.

But what makes Carrot the best King isn't that he sits on a throne or makes proclamations or wears a crown. He does not, in fact, DO any of that. This is remarkable, given the number of Kings you can find on the Disc that go all in on the usual trappings of the job.

No, what makes Carrot the best King is HOW he, for lack of a better term, rules his people.

He does not rule the city. The Patrician does that, and quite well. But Carrot does rule his people, and he does it with a touch so light, so soft, many of them barely realize he does it.

Part of this is his upbringing. Dwarfs, by and large, do not wring their hands and worry about what tomorrow will bring because, down in a mine, getting to tomorrow is certainly not a guarantee. There is only what is in front of you, and what you can do about it.

Carrot brings this attitude with him everywhere. He shares it with others. He shows his people, by simple dint of a fresh perspective, that what they can do about what is in front of them is not limited by the concerns of tomorrow or the grudges of history.

Yes, lad, you could absolutely stab this other lad because he broke your mate's nose that one time when you were all scrapping over who got what rubbish from the pile. OR, you could put the knife down and join in this game involving the ball I happen to have right here because what lad doesn't like a bit of sport.

Yes, sir, you could try running all of those foreigners you dislike so much out of the city with threats of violence. OR, you could come along with me to this cozy little curry shop that, would you look at that, has been here for ages because the owners are every bit the Morporkian you are, they just handle direct sunlight a tad better by tanning.

Yes, my lord, maybe you should call the guard and have this impudent troll removed from your property. OR, begging your pardon sir of course, but since I AM a guard and that particular troll is Seargeant Detritus, perhaps you should assist us with our inquires regarding this seemingly innocuous murder Commander Vimes seems quite invested in.

And the magical part is that his people DO what he tells them. Suggests to them. They can't help it. And Carrot, despite appearances, knows it.

He KNOWS the power he has over people. And THIS is how he chooses to use it: domestic disputes, police work, and helping out where he can. He doesn't want a throne or a crown. He just wants to help. He wants his people to BE better, not because he says so, but because he knows they CAN be, and they just need to recognize that for themselves.

Captain Carrot Ironfoundersson is literature's best King, because the best a King can be is a servant to, a champion of, and a cheerleader for his people. And Carrot would rather die before he failed at being all of those things, simultaneously, and all the time.
