I really need more people I can talk about my hobbies with 🥲
Do you ever think about that freaky little fish dude that evolved to have arm fins that allowed it to avoid predators in the ocean by literally removing itself from the situation and going to shallow water and/or land and that’s the thing all land animals are related to because I sure do

thinkin’ about how izuku hasn’t said/thought katsuki’s name (well, kacchan, but katsuki just said that’s his name so…) since the final war started.
in fact, whenever he thinks about katsuki, he actively changes the subject of that thought to something related to katsuki.
this isn’t a new thing for izuku. he is the unreliable-est of narrators. especially when it comes to his feelings—other than platonic admiration—for katsuki.
so, lets look. [spoilers for chapter 362+]
izuku’s reaction to katsuki’s death is wordless. very par for the course with izuku. this boy does not explicitly describe his feelings very often (if ever). [367]
—however, it is powerful. izuku doesn’t need to say anything to convey how he feels in this moment.
but that’s not the moment i’m most interested in. [379]
that tomb. no one else is dead atop the UA battlefield. it is a tomb because katsuki is lying dead on it.
these are both events that you’d need plenty of context to fully understand. izuku makes us do mental gymnastics to understand how he feels.
but who doesn’t do that?
katsuki.
just another example of them approaching their relationship exactly how you’d imagine the other one acting.
the kind sweetheart should be the one thinking about the boy he loves despite staring death in the face.
and the cocky asshole should be the one suppressing his feelings out of shame.
the kind sweetheart should’ve been the one to take the near-fatal stabbing for the boy he loves.
the cocky asshole should’ve been the one to then go on an almost murderous rampage following that.
they’re turning into each other.
There are certain very specific, unsustainable periods of history.
The Golden Age of Piracy lasted from the 1650s to the 1730s, and was really three different waves of piracy that all had their own specific causes and characters. My personal favorite has always been the post-Spanish Succession period, when a bunch of sailors and privateers were left unemployed and turned en masse to piracy since those were the skills they'd picked up during the war. This supply of pirates was obviously non-renewable.
The Wild West lasted between 1865 and 1895, depending on who you ask, not even a full human lifetime. It's a very narrow band of time, and of course it wasn't sustainable, there was only so much land to colonize.
There are lots of these times of change, conquest, colonization, and war, particularly in the last three hundred years. I always think they're interesting, mostly in how quickly the course of history moves on to some other relatively more steady state.
There's a thing that speculative fiction does where it stretches specific periods out to extremes, most notably with Medieval Stasis, but I think it's far funnier when applied to these tiny slices of history that have ballooned in the public consciousness. Either it takes heroic feats of worldbuilding to make it make sense, or everyone is just sort of okay with the idea of a Golden Age of Piracy that's implied to have lasted for a millennia.
Oh- the recycle button?? I love recycling! I just have to press this!
btw the thing she couldn’t ignore was someone calling her out for saying anti-depressants/hormone therapy are only perscribed by lazy doctors
