What Would YOU Ask A Pixie?

What would YOU ask a Pixie?

Happy Journal Day!

Way back in 2016 I started the “What would you ask a pixie?” journal. While it is true that it has not received looks, comments, or queries for a long time it is still going strong here. Chenelle, Lily, “Stitches”, and so many others still live, even if the camera hasn’t been on them here at DA (or here).

I still love reading the journal and all its comments. Thank you all who have read it, contributed to it, and walked with us all these years. See it again for the first time by clicking the above icon/link.

I Will Tell You What I Want...

I will tell you what I want...

This is for @aspiring-awesomeness as a gift and also in reply to:

Figured it would be good to ask this important question early in the year. Because as much as I would like not to care about numbers, I am
I Will Tell You What I Want...

"Dance the Night away" by @aspiring-awesomeness

During a lull in the festivities Del went up to the fire and addressed the crowd. “What do you all want? What do you really, really want?” It sounded equal parts sultry and commanding. The crowd grew silent as many became uncomfortable by the way Del asked it.

The stillness grew more uncomfortable as Del looked at each of them inviting an answer to her query. No one answered, unless you count a few weak coughs. The silence soon became more uncomfortable when it looked like an ember from the bonfire was floating towards Del and might cause her to burn. Everyone held their breath.

It was soon apparent the ember was actually a pixie in orange garb. She flew close into Del’s face and said loudly enough for all to hear in an equally commanding and sultry manner, “I will tell you what I want…” Del looked slightly annoyed yet curious. The crowd grew tense waiting to see what Del was going to do.

The pixie went on, “What I really, really want is for the wild rumpus to continue!” Then she emphatically and somewhat comically poked Del on the nose. The whole crowd felt it.

They stared each other down. After a few moments Del and the pixie broke into laughter.

The crowd followed with thunderous laughter of their own and some applause as the party started with new vigor. The pixie kissed Del on the forehead and they joined the others in the evening’s frivolity which turned out to be serious fun after all.

So while I am not a orange garbed pixie (named Lily) I also want the wild rumpus to continue. Do keep being who you are. Do things because you want to and not because you have to. Do work through the things that bring no joy and do not let those things overwhelm you. Do keep being the awesome friend and pen-pal you have been to me and many others! That’s what I really, really want. Oh, and I’d like to see more of Alenea again if she is up to it. I totally miss her. A lot. She has been gone a leap year at least. But I completely understand if she is away doing other things.

If I have misrepresented Del in any way my apologies and please let me know what I need to edit to make it right!

2022 in review

2022 for me was largely recovering from last year. You all saw/heard/read the news.

I did begin to come out of my artistic hiatus. Below is a summary of the art I did in 2022.

And the first animation I did (2022):

Tumblr did not post this well. You can click the pic to see the whole piece and the fuller story on how this piece happened.

The TL:DR is I didn’t feel like doodling but I made myself at least scribble a little. Quickly enough this spilled out. A rendering of one of my OCs “Space Girl Tina!” with some inspiration from my other OCs Lily and Chenelle.

UPDATE: I did "finish" the series which is to say I am caught up now. It is very good and I'm looking forward to more episodes coming. Very informative and well done.

Verbal Judo

The other day I heard this on the radio while driving:

A new NYPD podcast focuses on the history of hostage negotiations
NPR.org
The podcast, launched by the New York Police Department, examines the history behind tactics to end armed standoffs. What has and hasn't cha

I was very intrigued by this as I have been a student of "Verbal Judo" for some years now. I work with people a lot, mostly when they are not at their best (I work with the very ill and those who care for them). Also being I am an introvert and that I can be ironically, um, very vocal, having some insight on how to structure speaking with others when I and/or they are not at their best is super helpful. And truly it has been! I prefer the audiobook by the way and listen to it a lot when jogging, driving, or whatever. Whoever they got to read it I thought was the author reading his own book so it is a very good listen.

Anyway, back to the intrigue of the podcast. When I heard this piece I wondered if this helped shape or influence Mr. Thompson's passion to create a learnable structure for better communication especially in stressful moments ("Verbal Judo").

I'm going to give this podcast a listen and let you know what I learn. If you have listened, no spoilers please!

Twenty five watchers!

Woot Woot!

Not really. I have three real live watchers and 23 'fake' watchers who are all 24-26 y/o very healthy looking females with bikinis, slinky dresses, and lingerie. You might say it is unfair that I would say they are fakes but truly, never in real life would a throng of women like that or otherwise follow me. :/

I am super happy for the three of you who are real! Because, really, you have been good friends for a long time. <3

Ready to "see it again for the first time?", lol...

This is the original face of Chenelle, one of my original characters (OCs). She is a pixie.
