A LIFE LESS ORDINARY PROMPTS * assorted dialogue from the 1997 film, adjust as necessary, requested by judgementdaysunshine
fate brought us together. it kept us together. we were destined for one another.
so you're telling me that successful relationships are made in heaven?
it comes from a strange and wonderful place that we don't know about.
you also reject the idea that love is merely an emotional adaptation to a physical necessity?
are you serious?
fate intervenes in people's lives.
that's part of the beauty of it.
it's inexplicable, unpredictable, and absolutely beyond control or understanding.
you nearly got killed.
do you have any substantial evidence to back all this?
why do you believe it?
i'm a dreamer.
are you ready?
are you taking me to a hospital?
i'd like to make a withdrawal.
i thought we agreed there'd be no cliches.
what the hell did you do to her?
she had a gun!
so that makes everything all right, does it?
she isn't my type.
what are you talking about?
look at yourself. you're nothing. you're nobody.
you're wanted in connection with a violent crime.
are we going home now?
believe me, you don't want to know.
i came to see you and all you could do was humiliate me and turn me away.
i thought you were decent, but it turns out you're just a lying, cheating bastard like all the rest.
i'm sure you're just a regular kind of guy.
kill me, but don't touch the girl.
have you ever felt like you're not in control of your life?
we can do this with or without violence, it's up to you.
you have the demeanor of a man whose partner has left him for an aerobics instructor.
don't even ask where i'm going.
why don't you give me the gun?
why are you such a pain to be with?
i didn't go to harvard business school.
you're going to kill me?
that's a lot of money.
i remember the good old days.
i wish you hadn't done that.
someone let me out of this trunk!
do you have any idea how hard it is to find a good husband in this town?
you don't know how i feel.
exactly as you predicted.
if you don't mind my asking, how did you know he was going to react like that?
it's our job to know things like that.
you can take the car, but remember: it's stolen.
you're in a lot of trouble, you know.
i hate it down here.
you'll die for this, i swear to god.
they were trying to confuse you.
i'm not interested in you.
i want her back.
“Lucifer, you’re my brother and I love you, but you are a great big bag of dicks.”

When Hannah had grabbed the jacket and left in a blur of pink, Ellie could only blink. It took a moment for her mind to catch up, sharing a confused look with a stunned Maria before the teen ran out after Hannah. Jesus, she was fast - Ellie had to take a minute to catch her breath once Hannah finally stopped running.
" Holy shit, " was all Ellie could muster at first, listening to Hannah's story. She'd seen a lot in her life, in the QZ and on her journey will Joel, but falling off a cliff? That was insane! If the brunette hadn't seen people survive intense scenarios before, she'd have found it hard to believe that Hannah could go through that and still be standing here.
" So... Beth, she saved you? From the cliff? " Ellie tread carefully, not wanting to upset Hannah further. But she wasn't an idiot, she understood the implications. Hannah was here now, Beth wasn't. The jacket was special because it belonged to Hannah's sister. " That's why the jacket means so much. "
The teen's hand dipped into her pocket, fingers smoothing over the handle of her pocket knife. The one that had been with her since birth - all she had of her mother. " I get how that feels – having something that belonged to someone special. That losing it would... "
She sighs. Hand rubs her neck, antsy. " I don't think Maria meant to upset you. But don't worry, I've had my moments with her too. I'm sure if you explain to her, she won't touch the jacket again without permission or whatever - but washing it would probably be a good idea, right? "
@fracturals asked: ❛ do you want to share this? ❜ ( ellie )
The way she reacted when Maria had picked up her jacket, with the simple intention of getting it cleaned, one would have thought they were about to throw a baby into the dirty laundry. Hannah had ran out after - still, still that damn habit of running out - holding the jacket, the pink jacket, Beth's jacket, too embarrassed to explain why she had freaked out. But when Ellie had reached her, she had felt slightly better. Slightly.
"It was my sister's." It was all she had been able to say until that question.
"It was the... it was the last thing she gave me... I had a bad night..." That's one way to put it, but she doesn't have the courage to discuss the prank now. She had been so stupid. "And I ran outside, in the snow... like I did now, but without a jacket. She followed me... she gave me this jacket..." she repeats, holding it tightly. Squeezing her eyes closed, she tries to erase the image of Beth's body. "Her name was Beth... she was my twin, actually, but she was... so much prettier and awesome... and brave... and then I slipped off a cliff. And she grabbed me and wouldn't let me go..." she should have.
Daniel watches the smoke fade into the air with shadowed eyes, purple smudges underneath too purple and prominent to be anything other than from a lack of sleep. His fingers itch to grab a cigarette of his own, but the inevitable crash out from his dad if he went home smelling like smoke (again) wasn't worth it.
The teen sighs, fingers picking at the worn sleeves of his shirt. " Just family stuff. Arguing, y'know – and dad's got a lot going on at work so it's... yeah. " Daniel clears his throat awkwardly. The divorce wasn't his favorite subject - and going between two households was proving difficult. Didn't help that his dad complained about every normal teenage thing Daniel did – the joy of having a cop for a father.
@fracturals gets a starter :)
Michael sat down, cigarette between his lips as per usual. " You look terrible." He said, blowing smoke out into the cool night air. " I told you not sleeping would catch up with you." He skipped sleep sure but at least he had eyeliner to cover up with. " What's going on with you anyways?"
(Sentences from Hannibal (2013-2015). Adjust phrasing where needed)
"It's not very smart to piss off a guy who thinks about killing people for a living."
"We have a difference of opinion, therefore I am going to choose the opinion that best serves my agenda."
"You do this a lot? Go places and think about killing?"
"Everybody thinks you did it, you know?"
"This isn't self-defence. You butchered him."
"I can help you, if you ask me to, at great risk to my career and my life."
"You can't anticipate your dreams. Can't block them, can't repress."
"Sometimes, at night, I leave the lights on in my little house and walk across the flat fields. When I look back from the distance, the house is like a boat on the sea. It's really the only time I feel safe."
"Family friction is usually a catalyst for personality development."
"All the attention and responsibilities heaped on first-born children prepares them for success in the future."
"There's something foreign about family, like an ill-fitting suit. I never connected to the concept."
"What am I about to put in my mouth?"
"When you're with me, you don't have to lie about anything."
"You're not your father's daughter. Not anymore."
"As someone who makes such a big deal about common courtesy, I'm a little taken aback!"
"Do you think it's too late for us to have kids?"
"Never apologise for coming to me."
"Somewhere between denying horrible events and calling them out lies the truth of psychological trauma."
"I have no taste for animal cruelty, which is why I employ an ethical butcher."
"Human emotions are a gift from our animal ancestors. Cruelty is a gift humanity has given itself."
"Your perfume is exquisite. Similar to the aroma on the air just after lightning strikes."
"He really is quite charming, isn't he?"
"How do you profile someone who has an anomaly in their head changing the way they think?"
"So, do you wait until I'm asleep until you come to bed?"
"So, can we have a conversation, or do you want to pretend that everything's alright?"
"You're the head of the unit! Why don't you come up with your own answers if you don't like mine?"
"Do I seem different?"
"You're a little different, but you've always been a little different."
"Did you just smell me?"
"I really must introduce you to a finer aftershave. That smells like something with a ship on the bottle."
"I don't know how much longer I can be all that useful to you."
"I'm not your father. I'm not going to tell you what you ought to do."
"I'm going to sit here until you're ready to talk. You don't have to say a word until you're ready, but I'm not going anywhere until you do."
"You're quite the topic of conversation in psychiatric circles."
"You're going to have to stop correcting me if we're going to get along."
"Do you know what profession psychopaths disproportionately gravitate to?"
"Here we are, a bunch of psychopaths helping each other out."
The weather had ruined any chances of going beyond the walls today. There was meant to be a supply run, their food stock starting to run low as they drew closer to the colder seasons - and the storm outside only proved how close they were to a difficult cluster of months. It left all of them antsy, but going out in this weather would make searching for supplies impossible, let alone defending against any stray walkers.
Carl had been holed up in his room, watching the storm with a bored expression when he saw it. A flash of thunder, something shooting through the sky and bringing down a fair few amount of trees with it, couple of miles away. The teen immediately straightened, eye widening as he tried to process what he just saw. It had been way too big to be a bird, and he was no expert but it didn't seem like it'd come from space either.
With little hesitation, Carl had gathered his backpack, a raincoat and his boots and slipped out the house. Using the back way over the walls, it was fairly easy to sneak out of Alexandria without being seen. Navigating to where the thing had landed wasn't as easy, boots slipping in the mud and rain making it even harder for the teen to see – but after some time, he'd made it.
Squinting through the downpour, Carl wasn't exactly sure what he was staring at. In the low light, it almost looked like a huge... rock? But as he stepped closer, the shape seemed to shift slightly. Up and down, over and over. Like... like it was breathing.
With a sharp exhale, Carl pulled his knife from it's place on his belt. Held it tightly in his grip as he crept closer to the thing, until he was hovering a few steps away from the form. Up close, it almost looked like some sort of lizard.
With a wary glance around, Carl reached out with his boot and tapped against what he assumed to be a scaly leg. Waited with baited breath, hoping he wasn't about to be eaten by some sort of giant lizard that fell from the sky.
@fracturals
It started with the storm.
Dark clouds had gathered in the sky, a precursor to the wrath of nature that would soon follow. Most of the residents of Alexandria had decided to coop up in their houses in preparation, and just in time. The torrential downpour started within minutes.
Thunder rumbled above and lightning flashed, illuminating the sky with a unearthly blue glow.
This is where the offspring of lightning and death itself resided, banking between the clouds with scales as black as the night. No one could see it, didn't know it was there at all. And this is the way it had been for many years.
A bellow of thunder and another crack of lightning, this one striking the side of the dragon's face. It yelped in surprise, loosing its even glide. It descended in a downward spiral, crashing into a few trees on the way down.
It was only a few miles from Alexandria that the beast laid in the dirt, chest heaving with pained pants.
This is the beginning of the story where people without hope learned that dragons were real.
