sometimes i forget what my user is based on... like... that’s a whole other real person
good evening i’m bawling at this ! i always interpreted it as like ...’ if all they want is to kill the idol, to kill the mask, let them. die with the mask on. let them get what they think they want, because being a killjoy has nothing to do with the mask you wear, it’s the spirit of revolution that lives on well past your final breath.’
ok i said i was gonna say a thing so here’s me saying it even tho i’ll probably say it all wrong BUT ANYWAY
The interpretation of Traffic Report is all in the inflection. The saying “Die with your mask on if you’ve got to” in fact implies that the killjoy way, the norm if you will, is to die WITHOUT your mask on. Which only makes sense.
If you know you’re on a halohead mission, you take that thing off. You have nothing left to hide, nothing left to lose. You show your true face, one last act of defiance before you go down in laserfire and glory.
In Traffic Report, Dr D isn’t saying you better die with your mask on. He’s saying if death comes too quick for you to get your mask off, it’s okay.
“Die with your mask on — if you’ve got to.”
That’s why the four weren’t wearing their masks on the Sing mission. They already knew it was their last.
amen
