Here’s a short story (in an AU) that I wrote based on it:

“With the taste of your lips I’m on a riiiiide!” Xareni sang loudly - not to mention off key - along with the song. “You’re toxic I’m slipping under…”

Pine’s ears twitched and her eyebrows furrowed slightly, but she didn’t sing along. Seeing this, Xareni lowered the volume of the stereo, her ears drooping a little. “What’s wrong? I thought you loved Britney.”

The marten sighed heavily. “I do… It’s just– I don’t know.” She said, running a hand through her hair and leaning her head against the window. “I’m just spacey today, I guess.”

Despite her nonchalance, Xareni wasn’t buying it. There was something else bothering her. The ocelot frowned, puckering her lips around as she thought. A few moments of awkward silence passed as her brain’s gears turned. The relentless desert sun was suddenly covered by a large formation of orange rocks, granting the girls some shade for mere seconds. “Is this because I played Salsa earlier? I’m sorry, I know how much you hate it….”

“No, that’s okay, Xar.” Pine responded almost mechanically, her eyes glazed over as she gazed at something far, far way. She crossed her legs Indian-style up on the seat, her flip-flops on the car’s floor.

“Okay, then what is it?” Xareni pressed, her fiery eyes momentarily flicking in her direction. Something really must be wrong. This wasn’t like Pine at all. Throughout their platonic – and partly romantic – relationship, she had only seen her roommate act like this a few times. In those few times, it was also clear Pine was distressed. “Come on, Pine, we’re going to Vegas! You’re turning twenty-one tomorrow and we’re spending the weekend partying with tons of male strippers who’ll spray us with champagne. All in the city of sinners! You should be bouncing up and down in your seat out of excitement.” The ocelot said, a little exasperated. “We should even be pregaming right now…”

“Uh, I’m pretty sure you shouldn’t be drinking and driving.” Pine said, raising an eyebrow as she looked over at her. “I don’t think you should flip your hair dramatically, either.”

“Hey! It’s Britney, you gotta flip your hair. It’s the rule.” Xareni responded, which made Pine snicker. This made her perk up a little, smiling softly. “So… you gonna tell me now?”

The marten sighed once more, bringing out her phone and checking her messages, though they had lost signal a couple miles behind. She probably just did it out of anxiousness. Puffing up her cheeks, she put it away, facing forward. “You’re gonna make fun of me.”

Xareni made a show of seeming offended, making a pfft sound. “Of course not!” When Pine gave her a pointed look, she quickly added, “I promise!”

“I miss him…” Pine muttered after a moment of hesitation, barely audibly.

“What’s that?”

She rolled her eyes, groaning slightly with frustration. “I said I miss him!”

“Hah! I KNEW IT!” Xareni exclaimed – though she really hadn’t known – hitting the steering wheel with one hand victoriously. Still, it was strange. Pine rarely, if ever, missed anyone. Or at least, she didn’t show it. They had decided that this weekend would be girls only, so their guy wasn’t allowed to come along. Yep, their guy, not just Pine’s. “Look, we’ll call him as soon as we get the hotel, but for the rest of the weekend, you better forget about him!" 

Another moment of silence passed, in which an inappropriate thought crossed Xareni’s mind. She looked at the marten from the corner of her eye and cleared her throat, suddenly serious. "Did you uh, bring you-know-what, though?”

Pine snorted slightly, trying to contain her laughter. She looked over at the ocelot with an amused grin, immediately knowing what she was talking about. Xareni was the most inappropriate of the two, so Pine found it strange she hadn’t said the actual word aloud. Still, she wasn’t about to correct her. “Yeah, it’s in my suitcase.”

Her face split into a wide grin and she had to suppress the urge to clap excitedly. This weekend would be even better - if possible - than she expected. Utter excitement bubbled up inside her all of a sudden. Cranking up the volume of the stereo once more, she whooped. “YEEEAH, VEGAS BABY!”

I've actually considered doing that. I wasn't sure if the effort to edit videos and upload them would be worth it, but if enough people are interested, then sure.
