You're are the one blamed for it. Now stay with me ok, once they die they turn into evil revenants that hate you. Shocker right? After constant anger that has been built up you finally go dark and you lash out on all the other realms and try to go after your dead sons but before you can do more you turn into dust. Your past self returns only to find out the truth about his future self is completely disappointed in himself. Not only that you have a new villain to face. But heres a good part for you. You turn liu kang into a god and he defeats Kronika and you become a mortal who has finally find peace within himself. BUT. BUT HERES THE TWIST. Are you ready?
