So I'm just NOW finding out they had an interactive event at D23 where you could TALK TO ROCKET!!! I wish I could have been there so badly I want to talk to himmmmm 😭

To fill the eternal soul-crushing void I now feel at not getting to experience this I've been watching videos people posted of their interactions with him and OMG HE'S SO FUNNY!!! The actor needs a raise he portrays Rocket's speech and mannerisms so perfectly! Some of my personal highlights from what I've seen so far:

He thinks IGN is a spaceship

He wants to name a ship after one guest (highkey jealous of her ngl)

He is under the impressions that Mickey ear headbands are some kind of modification and he wants to steal them

His entire interaction with a Mantis cosplayer is absolute gold

He asks one guest what his engineering experience is and the guest responds that he knows how to use tape and glue. Rocket gets very excited at finding someone who knows how to use tape (as someone who loves Rocket's duck tape obsession from the TV show this is everything to me)

He asks a guest what he does and the guest says that he just kind of exists. Rocket calls him unemployed

He says "biologicalistical"

A group of guests tell Rocket they love him and he actually says he loves them back! Then he says he also wants to miss them but he can't do that if they don't LEAVE. Lol

He pitches his voice up and mimics a guest and it's so funny (the CG model bugs out a bit here but it only makes it more hilarious)

To keep guests moving along Rocket will have a funny way of dismissing the current group and it's great every time

He is very weirded out and confused by a guest's Hei Hei cosplay

A guest says "I am Groot" and Rocket admonishes him for cursing in front of the younger guests 😂

A guest wants to take Rocket's picture so Rocket says he'll give them his good side. He then turns around and FRICKIN' MOONS THEM 💀💀💀 I CAN'T-

So anyways now my life will never be complete but by golly I'm going to search out every video of this that I can find!

(P.S. DISNEY YOU ALREADY PUT THE GUARDIANS IN EPCOT PLEASE ADD THIS AS AN EXPERIENCE I BEG OF YOU)

Kitty everyone who interacts with him lovessss and hatessss him sooooo much at exactly the same time. I imagine my OC Petra (female Peter Quill) saying this to him every other day.

His hands remember everything they’ve ever touched, and everything they’ve ever felt. They never, ever forget. He stares at pearl’s pretty, delicate fingers. His lowlight vision paints them with the champagne light of the security orbs, and he can see them so clearly that he can count the faint freckles on the second knuckle of her first and third digits, and a beauty mark on the web of her thumb. He compares the satin skin and spindle-thin bones to  the mass of gnarled leather and claw that make up his own hands. Then he rolls her fine knuckles under his rasping thumb, and finally — carefully, stomach tight with tension at the thought of waking her up, of getting caught — he brings them to his face and coasts his mouth over them lightly. He wants to lick them. Take the flavor of them into his mouth, press them against his teeth. Maybe between his teeth — nibbling just enough to leave little divots that would fade in less than an hour. Get the taste and texture of her silken skin on his tongue.  An antidote to ghosts.

“I am Groot,” Groot says to her as he sits on the flightdeck floor, just a few feet from where she’s perched in her chair. He’s enchanted by Rocket’s sludgy coffee, stirring his mugful with one thick barkish finger, and then popping the digit in his mouth. “He’s usually awake first,” she admits, eyes sliding over to the bunk she’d crawled out of a half-hour ago. It’s the first time she’s woken before Rocket — not counting the night she’d sneaked down to the nook behind the bulwark while he’d been sleeping. He’s usually so attuned to his surroundings that he jolts awake as soon as she stirs.  “I am Groot?” She flashes a glance over at her Taluhnisan friend just in time to see the faint mischief in his otherwise-soulful eyes. Her cheeks flush hot.  “I didn’t know Taluhnisans had such good hearing,” she says, trying to sound as peevish as Rocket does — but she’s sure the words just come out vaguely wilted instead.

“Do you and Groot live here? In this building?” He nods, and takes another drink. “I’m on the ground floor,” he says, then winces. “Uh, Groot spends most of his time up here when he’s home. S’why it’s weird he ain’t made it back yet, actually.” He leans against the wall. “Where’s your room, angel?” Something about the timbre of his voice makes you shiver.  “The floor just below this one,” you tell him. “I saw the door to the roof open this morning, and - ” You shrug helplessly.  “You snooped,” he says, but he sounds amused, in a snickering, snarky sort of way.  “I was curious,” you admit with a little smile, and it’s more of an embarrassed agreement than a defense. He just looks even more pleased, teeth flashing at the corner of his mouth. “Bet you were.” He leans back, and you can feel his eyes on you, plucking delicately at your hair, the strap of your dusty sundress, your skin. “Think I got you pinned now, sweetheart.” You laugh softly, a little delighted despite your self-consciousness. “Pinned?” He takes another long swallow of his wine and wipes his mouth with his forearm, eyes half-lidded. “Yup. Figured you out.” “What did you figure out about me?” you ask, wide-eyed and fascinated. He’s watching you like your cat used to watch birds on the other side of the window — right down to the flick in the end of his tail, draped over the edge of the wall. “You’re curious enough to get yourself into trouble,” he tells you with mock solemnity, “and prob’ly too soft and sweet for your own good once you’re in it.” His voice rolls lower: velvet and smoke and gravel.  “And you’re so, so needy, angel.” A sly little smirk taunts the corner of his mouth.  “But too shy to do anything about it.” Your fascination has fled in favor of pure heat, pooling in your abdomen like molten sunlight, licking up between your thighs, curling over your chest and throat. You feel your panties dampen and you truly cannot remember the last time that happened.  “Have I got you about right?”

Rocket let Petra right himself and he took another savoring bite. Petra snuck in a bite or two, but left the majority of the pie to her friend. He kept making happy noises, and he was in ecstasies of delight as he continued to eat. As he scraped up the last bit he could with the utensil, he let his claws skitter around the edge of the dish and turned to look at Petra over his shoulder.

“Is it weird if I lick the plate too?” he asked hunching as if waiting for the rattan cane of his Sire.

Instead of answering, Petra laughed, leaned around him, and licked a line along the edge of the dish. That was all the permission he needed before greedily collecting every last bit of pie with his tongue. -Chapter 5, Entanglement by @hibatasblog. ———

Rocket stares. He can taste his tooth enamel, flaking as his molars grind together. “What,” he asks slowly, “do you mean by give you a ride?”

Drax shrugs. “After I win our competition,” he says reasonably, “I—“

“You ain’t winning anything,” Rocket snaps. The Destroyer looks at him with something like pity.

“I will kill the most abilisks,” Drax explains patiently. “Then I will gut the Daughter of Thanos like the enormous moon-scaled fish that used to roam the Forgotten Lakes of Kylos. But then,” he gestures with something like helplessness, “I will need transportation.”

“You… don’t have a ship?” pearl asks carefully.

“I am Groot?” Groot chimes in.

“Yeah,” Rocket interjects, picking up on Groot’s general question. “How did you even get here?”

“I coerced the captain of a merchant vessel,” the Kylosian says simply.

Rocket throws up his hands. “Then what makes you think I’d frickin’ want you on mine?”

Drax blinks. “We’re friends now,” he points out. “We almost shared a meal together. Your Terran pet—“ He points at pearl and Rocket’s brain is back to short-circuiting. “—warned me about the miserable tastelessness of Sovereign food. I complimented your impressive strength, and have spent casual time in your party’s company.” His brow furrows, like he’s surprised he’s gotta explain all this.

“We ain’t friends,” Rocket says darkly, and the words are almost shrill. “I’m barely friends with them,” he adds, jabbing a thumb at pearl and a forefinger in Groot’s direction.

Drax’s eyes widen, and he looks wounded and betrayed. “But we slept together,” the Destroyer whispers.

Rocket sputters.

“I am Groot,” Groot concedes, and Rocket turns on the Taluhnisan.

“We did not sleep together,” he snaps at the Big Guy. “For fuck’s sake — you three slept together.”

“I am Groot,” Groot reasons, and pearl chokes. The statement’s too complex for Rocket to catch, though, and he turns to pearl, who looks half-panicked herself.

“What’d he say?” Rocket asks dangerously.

“He said, uhm.” Her moonsilver eyes flick to Groot, and Drax, and then back to him, wide and alarmed. She’s pale except for two high spots of color in her cheeks. “He asked if the transitive property applies to mammal sleeping habits.”

“I am Groot,” Groot adds.

“He says, if I slept with them, and you slept with me—“

“I am Groot—“

“Enough!” Rocket bellows. “What is wrong with you people?”
