hey now that I've already made a text post talking about Mr. panta I can go on this mid length rant about how kokichi could have absolutely ended the game without killing himself in the process

so like let's all think back to the first tiral okay. Rantaro is dead and "Kaede" killed him right.

in the final trial it's revealed that ahhh kaede didn't kill rantaro because.... tsumugi killed rantaro! oh my god she's right! what !?

and the only reason tsumugi HAD to kill rantaro and frame kaede, was because the show had to go on.

they only get one take for each season.

so. let's think about this.

Tsumugi made sure that not everyone could die at any given moment. If she didn't, the show would be in some trouble etc etc (you can actually see this happening in the final trial where the audience starts to get angry at shuichi and the others for not participating).

so how could you end the game with this knowledge?

well, you see in the first trial that pretty much no matter if you're really the blackened or not, you get executed as long as you have the most votes.

with this knowledge, all you would have to do is manage to have everyone vote tsumugi in a trial. that's it. the game would have no choice but to stop-

Tsumugi can't let herself be killed because she's the only one who can run the game. The blackened can't be executed instead because that would reveal everything. The group punishment can't happen because the season would end just like that.

unless, of course, you consider that the blackened would just be sent to the next danganronpa season like rantaro was, but I'm not sure what would happen to tsumugi than. I guess she'd go, too? i dunno, just some brainstorming.

who knows, though. maybe rantaro was a previous blackened and escaped that way.

do you guys wanna hear me talk about v3 trial 4 because it's literally the best trial no ok ill do it anyway

So idk if this is like actually right or anything but I'm pretty sure kokichi goes through grief during like the whole trial. Though it's out of order, and multiple at a time in some cases, it definitely happens.

Even in the very beginning, there's some of what could possibly bargaining

purposely staying away from Gonta and distancing himself by attaching himself to Shuichi instead could be bargaining, in my opinion, or it could not be. I dunno.

I've seen another post by someone else saying he was deattaching himself from Gonta because he knew what was going to happen to him, which could possibly fit into bargaining, but again, idk I forgor 💀

After we got multiple- like. like multiple instances of anger. A lot in the same section of the trial, actually.

I don't have a lot to say about this one at the moment because it's pretty straightforward, but later on I might touch on this some more because it'll explain some other stuff not involving the grief topic

After, there's some points that could be seen as denial.

It's obviously like horribly impossible to tell whether or not either of these lines are genuine, given his character. But I think there's a dead giveaway line for the second screenshot.

This line is definitely a lie, or at the least, isn't a genuine ask.

Kokichi, throughout the entire trial, continuously states how much he wants to live. He wouldn't give that up if Gonta were going to die as well as himself. Which is why I feel like his other sobs feel so more genuine. He's lying during the sobbing, but not about the fact that he's sobbing. (note he does claim they were fake tears, but under the given circumstances, it's fair to discredit that statement entirely)

As for the first screenshot? That's probably a lie too. For the same reasons as the second one.

I've run out of space for images, so I'll do a part two probably sometimes if I feel like it. Just my thoughts on this trial because it's my all-time favorite in this entire game.

lmao just going through a list of attention grabbing titles and "Tom Cruise" made me giggle

So I had a question about writing. How do you usually create characters and give them their personalities? Since whenever a good scenario comes to my mind and I sit down to write, I almost immediately give up because I either create boring characters, or I just can't create any. So do you have any advice you want to give on this?

So it sounds to me like the problem might be the way you’re approaching storytelling - If you’re thinking of scenarios and then trying to come up with characters to plug into them, that implies to me that your scenarios are likely things that are *happening to* those characters instead of things that the characters are *trying to do*.

Characters who are “interesting” usually have some amount of agency in their lives - something they’re pursuing as compelling obstacles block the way. So if a story is just things happening to a character and them reacting… it makes them feel passive, and not super “interesting.”

So what I would do, is instead of thinking of scenarios first, think of the *characters* first and if they’re interesting the stories will come naturally. One of my favorites is Indiana Jones: Stuffy archeology professor with a secret double life as a globe-trotting treasure hunter. That’s a one sentence description that immediately conjures all sorts of exciting ideas.

If you want to break down why that one works so well, it’s because he’s relatable (stuffy professor; everyone’s had one of those) with an interesting twist (secret double life; always cool) and built-in story generator (globe-trotting treasure hunter; traveling the world! Finding treasure!)

I don’t know if anyone else uses that term “story generator” or if that’s a dumb one I made up - I use it to describe the quality of a character or world that, with only a few words, is SO compelling literally anyone could start to imagine stories with it. “Boarding school for wizards”, “amnesiac war robot from Mars”, “Tom Cruise”, “secret hotel for assassins”, “summer camp for psychic secret agents”, “demon who rebels against his destiny to save the world”… these are all great examples of story generators.
