“Oh fuck …” Whumpee looks at his shaky, blood smeared hand and his breath catches in his throat as caretaker’s hands work on his body.

“It’s okay, you’re okay. At least … kinda,” the older mumbles as he helps whumpee move his legs to lay more comfortably. Whumpee knows that this is a lie, but he doesn’t comment it. Even if he wanted to, his mouth doesn’t even open.

That doesn’t stop him from whimpering when caretaker moves his shirt up, brushing against the knife still sticking in his abdomen. “Fuck, I know it hurts, I’m sorry.” The words ring in his ears, as he manages to give him a little nod. He knows he doesn’t want to hurt him. He never does and that makes caretaker special … at least in his sad example of a life.

His hands move unconsciously, fingers brushing against the object in his body, which makes him panic a bit. Gone. He wants it gone. In his pain-filled delirium, whumpee tries to take the knife out, but caretaker quickly grabs his hand, holding it in his own.

“Hey, look at me. Look at me, whumpee. That’s good. Good. We have to leave it in, otherwise you’ll bleed out before the fucking ambulance has the chance to come pick you up. Yes, I know it hurts, and I’m so sorry, but you have to wait just a little bit longer,” caretaker explains and his thumb circles over whumpee’s pale hand and he gives it a quick kiss. “Hold onto my hand, squeeze it, if it helps, but keep your fingers from that knife.”

Whumpee holds onto caretaker like a lifeline.

Whumpee who needs a surgery but they have Trauma about being knocked out and things Done to them.

Do they get the surgery while paralyzed and numb, but awake? Is caretaker there to still walk them through what's happening to them?

Do they agree to go under full anesthesia but only if caretaker is there both when they go under and wake up, and very specific instructions about how they want to be treated during the process?

"Fine, just, can you be there when I'm waking up? And please don't judge me if I react poorly to you, I- I don't always know where I am when I'm coming out of it."

"Let me hold the gas to my own face. Don't touch me until I'm out. Make sure I'm dressed the same by the time I'm coming up. Do what you have to do while I'm out, I don't want to hear details about it unless I ask, just get it done."

I have a couple:

“Hello, pet.”

The whumper removes any instance of the whumpees names/nicknames. They are just ‘pet’ (or whatever else the owner wants to call them.) They’re not even called ‘blue eyes’ or ‘blondie’ etc.

The collar is one of those barbed ones, or a loop leash that tightens if the whumpee strays too far.

Maybe they’re kept at the whumpers side - forever forced to crawl by them/sit on their haunches.

It takes a long time for them to learn the behaviour… and it'll take even longer for them to unlearn it when they’re rescued.

The whumpee could eventually turn feral - taking on characteristics of a pet.

Maybe the whumper has a ‘pack’ of pets - I can imagine the new addition being unwelcome/being forced to fight for their food.

They’re fed in a bowl on the floor.

If they’re good they’re given treats (small biscuits, scraps of meat etc)

Over time, they feel anxious if they don’t have a collar around their neck. At first it’s claustrophobic, but then they feel too exposed without it.

The ‘he’s an idiot, but he’s my idiot’ mentality but between your villain and your whumpee. 

The villain cannot stand anyone other than themselves hurting the whumpee. 

The flutter in my chest that I get when I envision suffocating someone with a pillow, watching them thrash around against my strength.

It can't possibly be normal but I just can't get enough.

Having a cliche/typical medieval fantasy setting for my whump OCs is something I feel like I haven’t been using to my advantage enough

- bear traps/animal attacks/other wildlife or nature related whump

- and related, attacks from magical or mythical animals/beasts

- arrow and sword wounds, bringing about infection and fever

- treating injuries without painkillers

- healing magic that hurts, both the person being healed and/or the person healing them (magical exhaustion or taking on the injured person’s pain in order to heal them or similar)

- magic whump, just in general (mind control? poisons, spells that hurt/cause damage to the user, curses and cursed items etc)

- dungeons???

Take a piece or dialogue (or write one) and add details between each character's responses that describe their reactions to what was just said, what they do physically, and/or what memories the conversation is triggering for them. How much can you add before it starts to annoy you as a reader?
