I try to have a coherence in my posts so two Wizards of the Coast properties, first is a MTG OC I drew years ago during Shadows Over Innistrad, some sort of spirit. Probability green and black, maybe some white. No idea what there role would be, probably a garden of the wilds. Second is an idea for a maguffin for a D&D Spelljamer campaign I drew a few years ago, essentially a treasure-map that would be the focus of the campaign. And now I'm reminded of doing a outline of a Disney's Treasure Planet campaign.
I was less informed when I asked that question, and have learned several other things so should have worded by question better.
One is that she was able to power up by ringing the 'Mexican Liberty Bell'/El Grito de Independencia that one time, So I assume that as long as it is bell shaped, could be rung, and being believe it to be a symbol of freedom it could be a viable 'power up' for her.
Also she did get the ability to admit ultra sonic waves, but we still don't know if that is from the Liberty Bell being struck by lighting again, or a side effect of Barron Blitzkrieg trying to steal her powers.
Until proven otherwise I will assume that any culturally important artifact can and will bestow powers given some circumstance....
This is to Uncle Sam, if he is still taking questions. Liberty Belle got her powers from the actual liberty bell & 'powers up' when the bell is struck, are there any other Colonial American historical items that are used as magical conduits? And is she technically channeling you when she used her powers?
US: How fitting considering what we just talked about. Me: This question will come out on the next day, but yes. US: Libby Lawrence was a wonderful woman, I should say. That woman's righteous indignation for the sake of others could burn white hot. I have seen her give enemies and politicians alike a look that could melt through a bank vault. Me: She is on record as the only woman who could get Johnny Quick to shut his trap US: Sometimes with blunt trauma to the head, but yes. Me: So to reiterate? US: Ah, yes, so we talked 'yesterday', only about 10 minutes for us, about Betsy Ross and Molly Pitcher, two young ladies who acted as sidekicks for Ms America in the late 40s Me: And the spool of thread taken from the historical Betsy Ross and the pitcher from the 'historical' Molly Pritcher that they used to gain superhuman abilities. US: Right, perfect example right there. Me: And the other question? US: No, so much as both her abilities and mine are both outgrowth of the same root. I keep explaining to folks that I'm not the SOURCE of the American spirit, they are. That being the American public at large. Me: I'll admit, the source of Lawrence's abilities have always been something that baffled my field since there really is no physical explanation for any of it. US: I hate to just shrug and say "magic" because I don't think of what I do or what I am as particularly arcane but that's about the best way to sum it up.
As a follow up to my last ramblings, why don't we have the rest of the Magic: the Gathering Dreamcast Game's Cards? We probably will with Velukan Dragon's printing in Mystery Booster 2, and Arden Angel in a Secret Lair Drop they will probably be chase cards in seclusive and elusive ways, only time will tell. They were turned into using D6's instead of D4's, but still.
I don't know how the Random Basic land selection of Camato Scout and Lydari Druid would work, may have to make them Acorn/Silver Boarder in a similar vain to Erza's Head, but the rest?
Tornellan Protector would need to be bumped up to a D4, even then it's underpowered?
Saji's Torrent needs to be bumped down to a D4, Imagen tapping at Instant speed up to 6 creatures for two mana.
Hapato's Might need to be a D6, No one would play a card where you pay 3 mana for a chance at getting +4/+0
Murgish Cemetery is already over costed, so D6 +1 to get it descent.
Ashuza's Breath should be a coin flip in order to do at least 1 damage to every creature, including your own.
I don't know how you would even do Lydari Elephant with it's choose effect, 2D6 +1 where the roll cannot be under 3?
"This Juice joint really popping isn't it? Everyone is there Galld Rags while sipping enough Giggle Juice to float a ship, so what you going to have Slick?" (I need to do more with my own oc's)
Cycling is an old mechanic introduced all the way back in Erza's Saga, it primary effect is to pay the discard cost of a card with cycle on it & draw a new card. I has evolved over the years to have 'sub-' cycling which will search your deck for a card of the cycling type, usually this will be basic lands of a certain type, butt there has been outliers such as Wizardcycling, Wizardcycling & Artifact landcycling on Vedalken Aethermage, Step Through, Homing Sliver & Sojourner's Companion. Each of them being from Time Spiral block or calling back to Time Spiral Block.
They are utility mechanic without much explanation in terms of flavor, what does it mean to inherently have a cycling cost? To forget something/To remove some information for other information? It's odd, and cards that get benefits form you cycling, what do they represent? That when it's controllers lose memories that the creature/card gets a benefit? Are you feeding the cycled card to them? ???
But getting back on track there are two other cards in Future Sight that have given me an idea, those being Marshaling Cry & Ichor Slick, both cards with Cycling but also a mechanic that can cast the card from the Graveyard, those being Flashback & Madness. Marshaling Cry waning you to ether play it now for your creatures to fight or Cycling it in order to grab another card if you don't have creatures, and with Flashback you can pay it on a later turn once yo have creatures on your field. Meanwhile Ichor Slick wants you to cast it for it's Madness cost once you cycle it, its less versatile than it's White counterpart but it is also self activating.
With these mechanics I thought "Why cant you combine the two?", that being having a certain Cycling mechanic & a Grave Yard cost? They would need to be a Instant or Sorcery for Flashback, Creature or Artifact for Unearth, and about anything for Madness. It would, in order to curbed power creep, have to be on effects that already exist but at higher cost, and have to be in a Trible teamed set for the specific Cycling to be useful.
As an example let me create three cards that could exist:
"Druid of the Woodland Conclave" {G} 1/2 Creature — Human Druid (w) - DruidCyceling {2} & Unearth {2}{G}. (Does nothing by itself, but is a Tutor in green that can search for other Druids & can act as a first turn body if need be.)
"Mosuleum Strength" {2}{B} Sorcery (w) - Choose target creature. Mill three cards, then put a +1/+1 counter on that creature for each creature card in your graveyard. ZombieCyceling {2} & Flahsback {3}{B}. (Not a starting card, but a card that is usfull late game to refill the hand if in hand or used early game to search for a body & later used for its effect. If a bite exspenseive for what it does.)
"Mystical Might" {1}{U} Enchantment — Aura (w) - Enchanted land has “{T}: Target creature gets +2/+2 until end of turn.” EnchantmentCycling {4} & Madness {1}. (This being a not so good card with the tremendous upside of Tutoring for any enchantment.)
1) Justice is Served (Breakfast) - Justice from Helltaker enjoying some Pancakes
2) Ciel's Upgrade - "Look at those E-Tanks!" Recently came across a fan-made game idea called "Project Ciel" which if I could I would throw money at, I feel that she is a character that could be explored more in the main series. Shure we get that she was created by Neo-Arcadia as a super-smart test tube baby, created Copy X, and later on created the Biometals, but we only see her in majority of game time as a "Damsel in distress" or "Guy in the chair" but in the project we see/play her during the early development of the Biometals. Although the main antagonist is a evil copy of herself and the 4-Guardians, which feels like its retreading ground, but I will be following this closely. Hopefully there won't be a Cease&Desist.
3) Dragon Louis - Frankly, I don't know why I drew this. I got the idea that Louis (from Familiar of Zero) somehow fused or absorbed the Ancient Dragon (who looks like a mountain hence the stone texture), but this being Louis she had to improve herself, hence the gold claws & tail unearthed from under the stone skin, and the jewels imbedded in the stone skin.
Group 4, Pod is based off of a Southern Blue tail lizard & Dan's name is a joke based on being a generic brand.
And the last Megaman Mermaid that I will be doing this year, I added a lot of Fairy Leviathan's boss form making a sort of manta like transformation for Aile Model L. 3 Fully colored and shaded drawings in three days, Ow my hand.
"Do not drink deeply, you greed may be greater than most, by the ocean is endless" Wow, 7 pictures in 7 days, And with one being a color swap with additional details would that make it my "Eventful Eight" ?
Again another art from the backlog that I don't have the would-be effect for anymore, meant to work with my last artwork, I think it was meant to summon a non effect fusion monster & then force the activation to summoning a another extra-deck non-effect monster using monsters on the field.
