I imitated @krossan 's art style again, and this time I tried to use her design for humans (/humaniods), but didn't really imitate every way of simplification or shading/ colouring (I also kind of changed the proportion of the character). My lines look different from Krossan's art , and it's pretty obvious.

I spent lots of time working on the lineart. I used some ink painting methods, and the lines look pretty nice. 😂 Designing the action/ pose wasn't a very big problem for me, but I am not familiar with human anatomy, so it did take me quite some time to figure out the construction and how to design a fine proportion. I spent some more time on designing the clothes. I gave Danny some really baggy clothes (basically my clothes but with different colours) (and perhaps the clothes are too big for him) so that I could draw interesting folds. At first the fabric was drawn too complicated, so I simplified the design several times (I redrew and redrew … 😅). I can draw some even simpler clothes (just take a look at my other posts), but it was not my purpose of drawing this. Anyway, I can talk a lot more about creating lineart, but not this time. (I am not sure if I know how to explain some theories in English) 🤔

The lineart here was not really meant for a coloured drawing and I didn't thought much about colouring when I drew the lineart. I don't actually enjoy shading or colouring, and apparently I am better at creating lineart. If I want to colour something, I prefer to design a simpler line drawing, and sometimes won't have to draw some very nice lines (yeah theoretically I can draw sketchier lines in that case, but I don't usually draw "rough" lines since I'm probably not good at that) (or I can just try something that's more like acrylic/ oil painting). The coloured one took me about 3 hours and 20 minutes to colour. 😓The coloured drawing is not as good as my line drawing, and it has something to do with the proportion of elements (such as lines, light and shade, colours, textures, etc.). 😂

After carefully drawing the lineart and colouring the character, I added some simple shade very quickly. The shade is really really rough, since I just wanted to see how to deal with colours. The drawing with simple shade here looks a bit better than the coloured one mentioned above. When I want to draw light and shade as well as colours, I often design environments that are a bit more complicated than the light background of the shaded one here in order to see how the colours affect each other, how the coloured light affect the environment, and to try to achieve colour harmony, which is basically what I do when I paint some particular kinds of paintings. In this case, I created some buildings (in fact, abstract textures would be alright as well) around Danny. I also needed to tell what Danny was feeling, so the environment was pretty important. (The light and shade in the drawings don't make much sense, but it doesn't matter because the drawings look fine) I like the red one, so it's more detailed and carefully drawn than the blue one. Honestly I can draw better light and shade and use a variety of greys to create a better drawing (or painting?), but this time I didn't want to focus on colours and light, so these two drawings are supposed to be rougher than my lineart. 😂

I planned to draw blood but I was too tired to study blood or find some references. In the end there's no blood in the drawing.

I thought Irken Randy would be cool so I tried to design one. Irken Randy is from an alternate universe. 😳 @littleveltyoung

Sam. (I wanted to explore a bit of the base colours. ) (I only post one of the above to Instagram😂)

I wasn't satisfied with her gesture, so I drew some more Sam (although not full body).

Sam does have long sharp canines here. And I wanted her to have some more unique clothes, but I'm not really good at designing clothes. Honestly, I don't know much about goth, but I tried. 😂😂😂 (Her hair was so Interesting to explore, and I like to exaggerate stuff, hahaha)

Additionally, I attempted to draw Tucker as well. His face shape was (not really easy to draw).

(I really like the shock expression on the left. His mouth and eyes(technically, his whole head shape…) are exaggerated, and this is actually quite challenging to design. I think the neck could be a bit longer though)

And Daniel.

Also, I made sth to encourage myself.

His words are more like a greeting (or a blessing), and basically means "be happy and healthy this year". The words are too straightforward, and sometimes they are used to greet the other person on some specific occasions (like the Spring Festival. I celebrate the Spring Festival, you know. And the picture was drawn on 27th Jan., when it was during the Spring Festival holiday. I wasn't in the mood for drawing Spring related stuff like I did last year, and drawing ghostly contents was a better choice). In most common/ daily conversations, it's in fact pretty weird if you say sth like this to other people. Others might suppose, sth bad happened to you or sth's wrong, and will be confused. Although, in this case, it's more like self-encouragement or a self-reminder, so it's okay. I don't like to be really straightforward, but I need to remind myself. I'm not really as positive as I act on the Internet. 😂😂😂 (So here, the words also means "I hope I can <still> be happy and healthy this year")

Anyway, I'm at home and I'm glad that me, my family and some friends are alright.

The situation in my country is quite complicated, and of course I am scared (but not panic). There are many tragedies happening, which is really sad. And I also saw fake news and rumours on the Internet (platforms like Instagram and Twitter) (Some posts are really horrible, but I'm not surprised) (讲真，微博都有唔少乱七八糟嘅嘢。而且，表达观点同埋提出猜测，与恶意发嘢，区别唔细…… 对于有啲可怕嘅言论行为，我了解到就会比较失望), and I don't know what to say about that. I think I'll read more of WHO's tweets. There are also some good news.

The pandemic COVID-19 is dangerous, and I hope you guys are well, and that you are in a safe place. (已编辑，2020.04.17.)

I'll have classes next week, but I don't have to go to school (There's one COVID-19 case in my university, and I don't know the current situation of that patient) (We students are told not to go to Wuxi, not to go back to school, unless the university informs us about the exact time to go there). I mean, I have online classes. I'll have oil painting classes and I don't have tools to paint. (I can try to paint digital painting, but I don't think digital art is allowed) (it's not a very good idea to paint oil painting at home…)😂😂😭 Another thing is, I now know that my translation class is in reality, interpretation (I didn't expect this). 😭I read my text book, and I realise it's difficult to interpretate. Speaking of translation, I haven't really finished translating the comic Doppleganger… It's a nice story, but very challenging to translate. (I'm too lazy🙄)

(Update: I have been having online classes. I will not go to school in May, because I think this will be too risky. 2020. 04. 17. Fri. )

My AU "Wings of the Ravens" stuff.

Canon characters are OOC in some ways (compared to canon concepts, you know), and don't say I didn't warn you.

And Daniel. (See my current icon? That's basically me now, you know. I am sometimes exhausted and just want to sleep. )

And there's Dark Danny. (This design again because I love seeing sweet dresses. )😂😂😂He's actually quite happy this time. 😂

I changed the patterns of Dark Danny's dress and changed some of the base colours of the whole design. I wanted him to look nicer in this little dress.

I drew him wearing a dress for the third or fourth time (probably more). I have a freaking weird little comic showing Dan in a dark blue dress here. 😂

He looks good in dark colours. Since his skin colour is really light, light colour clothes don't suit him that well (I can still manage to design light colour clothes for him, but he looks better in black or dark blue/red/brown sometimes. ). (He looks cheerful when he's in orange. Just see my previous post. ) Okay the truth is that I have to design the rhythm of value and sometimes I am lazy or tired, so I prefer to draw simple clothes. Honestly I need to design the value thingy better. 😂 (Btw my lineart is getting better and it looks cool. )

I promised to share the haunted dolls with you, and here is the concept art. The haunted doll that I draw a lot has a proper name now.

(This particular one) She's Button Lady, who is a really friendly and sweet neighbor. (Other designs might be used for other haunted dolls or just ordinary dolls. )

I also have some truly fearsome, aggressive and dangerous ghostly characters. The smiling little character is not included. The smiling one is just another lovely neighbor. The characters with six limbs are the truly ominous creatures.

Oh and I am calling them Softies! Hahaha🌚👍👍

These Softies hunt ghosts (I mean some certain "species", such as Ectopuses, Worms, Eels, humanoid ghosts and perhaps more. They are not cannibals btw. ) Then they "suck" the energy out of their prey. Usually, even if a Softie doesn't destroy other ghosts, it can still hurt other ghosts seriously by just passing through the prey, and some ghosts will really just die (ghosts in my AU will die 😂) because of serious injuries. The most horrifying thing is that the prey usually cannot fight back at all (unless with a special weapon or sth), because Softies can't be injured by ordinary ghosts. (They are perhaps like "ghosts" to the ghosts? )

However, Softies are often harmless to terrestrial animals and plants (maybe more?) of Earth.

As for halfas, Softies aren't too interested in them. But these creatures can really hurt halfas if they intend to do so. ( To be honest, I don't want Danny and Vlad to be the "only halfas"in this weird world, so there are more half ghosts, but most of them aren't "half humans". I know this concept is super weird but whatever. )

Alright, so Softies are similar to "soul suckers" ane they are freaking dangerous and scary.

I actually tried to colour a nice Softie with watercolour. I used watercolour to colour a cartoonic character for the first time, and I think it looks fine.

(My drawings aren't scary, and I am aware of this. Just look at the way I draw canon characters, they aren't even creepy. My OCs aren't scary either. And the name "Softie" is a bit rediculous, but it suits them, and I am always serious. My stuff just look like that and it's not like I can make sth kid-unfriendly. I don't want to draw sth that's really terrifying. So let's just pretend that the Softies are creepy. )

I drew these pictures about my alternate universe in 2023. I wanted to post more of my works, but it was tiring for me to post works and process some certain feedback on my posts, so I was not very active on some websites.

I can make backup copies of some of my works by posting my works here, so I still want to post some things here.

褐马鸡 brown eared pheasant (Crossoptilon mantchuricum). The species is evaluated as vulnerable on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.

This is a girl. The red area on her face is bare skin instead of feathers. The adults of eared pheasants are very similar in plumage, while there are obvious differences between the female individuals and the male individuals of lots of species belonging to the family Phasianidae. I might try to draw babies/ children later. 🤔

My friend said that the character's tail can be bigger, and I think he has a point, so I will try to design some pretty different ones in the future.

It took me about six hours to design and draw this. I spent about 30 minutes working on the watermark stuff (so it took me about 6.5 hours in this case).

Unfortunately, for some reason, I was NOT able to post the original image (about 9 megabytes) to this platform. I tried to post the original one, but it just didn't work, and I had to post a smaller image (about 1 megabyte). 😩

Danny basically says: "I'll show you how to defeat those bad guys". 😂

(It's not that easy to understand the language I use in the picture, I guess. There are some people who misunderstood what Danny says. 😂 I didn't write that well, but at least I tried).

This wasn't meant to be a concept of my AU Wings of The Ravens at first, but when I finished it, I realised that it's okay to regard it as some sort of concept art.

Usually I dislike posting a single image at a time, but I need to write sth pretty long for some of my works, and in that case, the text will be too long for one post. 😂

There was an drawing activity in a DP fangroup on QQ in March. The activity is called 击鼓传画 I think, and one of the rules is that a person draws a specific character and send the image to the next person, and the second person redraw the image in their way/style (can add something else into the pic if you want), and then they will send the new image to another person… It's basically like "passing a parcel". I took part in it and drew this. The previous image actually shows a friendly Danny, and the author wrote that "Danny's going to give a lesson!". Mine is really different from their drawing, but that's the point you know. Everyone was supposed to surprise the group members. 😂

Back to my drawing. There are over fifty layers. I like to draw on many layers (it's convenient to fix things and test/try stuff in this way). Usually, a flat-coloured illustration of mine will have twenty or even more layers. 😂 I explored some new techniques and new methods. I tried to design sth detailed and simple. I explored a bit of the characters' designs and Danny's gesture(s), expression(s) and personality, and the process was kind of amusing. I even created some depth for the background. Since the characters are in fact a bit detailed and they look amazing (I put so much effort into the artwork after all), the background needed to be better than just a single-flat-filled colour.

This took me about two days. There are a few problems in the picture (some lines and some light effect and some of the details…), and I think it's good to know there are small problems.

Oh btw, Dannypocalypse stuff. I am afraid that I wasn't able to posy this on time, but it's fine. It's my AU Daniel (and Dark Danny) with lovely teeth.

The Danny on the top was inspired by a character from a film. (I haven't watched the film, but the design is just so creepy)
