Headcanon that Albert just gets randomly emotional at night.

Race wakes up at like, 3am to the sounds of sniffling and turns over to see Albert crying his eyes out and Race, while extremely confused because why on earth is he crying at 3am, tries to comfort him and figure out what the fuck is happening.

Race: Al? What's going man, why're ya crying?

Albert, currently sobbing: The worker bees- They only live for th- for thirty days, which means that they- they spend their whole lives working for something they're probably never gonna even gonna see-

Race: Yup, and that's sad, but we're not worker bees buddy, and we have school in exactly four hours, so let's sleep this out, ey?

Fuckin… gotta get this damn shirt off, the tag is fuckin scratchy and- I need this off Davey let out an annoyed hiss as he scrambled to get his shirt off in the empty locker room.

The PE teacher was yelling at the earlier class to finish their laps, and Davey was plugging his ears as not to overwhelm himself more. Unfortunately, taking off a shirt with your fingers in your ears is a surprisingly difficult task.

Davey finally unplugged his ears for less than a second, basically ripping his shirt off in that time. As he threw the fabric off of him and over his head, he let out a sigh of relief and stretched his spine, reaching towards the ceiling. 

He picked up his shirt off the dirty changing room floor, holding it as though he was scared of it. He looked around, coming down from the overstimulation, and noticed he was still alone. He could still hear the gym teacher yelling at the last class, and he didn’t want to subject himself to the berating he’d surely get for forgetting his PE shirt in the boys locker room.

He sighed and grabbed his phone, clicking “Jack Kelly” in his contacts.

The phone rang twice before his friend picked up, and Davey whispered into the mic; “Hey jack, sorry no time for formalities, can you grab my shirt from the locker room? My lockers D122, the code is 5-41-17, thank you bye!” He spoke quickly, then hung up.

Jack was confused, but complied. He grabbed the mentioned athletic shirt from Davey’s locker, going to the stalls to hand it to him.

“Davey?” He asked. No reply.

He thought he should check the changing room, but didn’t really suspect Davey would be in there.

As he turned the corner of the changing room, his eyes widened at the sight. There Davey sat, shirtless and gnawing at his nails anxiously. Jack didn’t notice the first bit until he was walking towards Davey and pulling his hand away from his lips gently.

“Dave, we talked about this-“ he paused, blushing “uh. Uh, where’s your shirt?” He asked awkwardly.

“Oh, sorry. Can I have it?” Davey asked 

Jack was preoccupied, noting every detail on Davey. He had abs. That was very much something Jack wouldn’t expect from Davey. “Er- yeah, sure.” He was still staring at Daveys abs as he spoke, accidentally dropping the shirt in his stupor.

“Fuck, sorry. Just- Just, you’re like… really built.” He blurted out, picking up the shirt and handing it to Davey.

Davey stood up to pull on the shirt, giving jack a short-lived sight of him. Davey was moderately confused at jacks comment, but laughed it off.

“Mhm- uh, I’m gonna… I have homework, or, uh, bye.” Jack mumbled, flustered from the experience and sprinting out of the room.

Later, in Jacks room “studying”

“He had abs! I’m telling you, he’s just-“ jack let out a pathetic scream as he rambled to his friends, Kathrine and Crutchie.

“We know you’re hopelessly in love. But did you have to stare at him for that long? God, you’re absolutely simping for that man.” Katherine rolled her eyes. Crutchie nodded in agreement.

“I’m not- I’m not whatever that word was! I’m just impressed, is all. He’s not the type’a guy I’d expect to have a fucking 6-pack.” Jack muttered.

“Just get some balls and ask him out already. Who knows, you could be seeing him shirtless in a different setting.” Crutchie said suggestively.

“Asking people out is scary! Especially Davey. He prolly has a girlfriend.” Jack replied defensively.

“No? He’s gay. And single. And what are you? Gay and single. Match made in heaven. Ask him out, ditwad.” Katherine commented.

“Maybe.” Jack said simply.

“Yes.” Crutchie responded.

“Yes.” Katherine added.

“Maybe.” Jack repeated.

“Two months, then we tell him ourselves.” Katherine comprimised

“Four months.” Jack demanded

“Three and you ask him out if we have to tell him for you.” Crutchie butted in.

“Fine.” Jack relented

“Mhm.” Katherine nodded calmly.

platonic davey/katherine featuring newsbians!! i can’t sleep and i have so much due tomorrow so ofc i’m staying up drawing instead of going to bed </3 😀

finally kicked my art block so have some jack kelly spouting teenage boy nonsense at poor katherine as a treat ( what do you mean this isn't their post-world will know scene in a nutshell?? )

albert doesn't really KNOW how to express affection. he steals race's cigar every once in a while, but he doesn't think race really appreciates that. what he knows (or thinks) race likes is when albert hugs him, when albert compresses race as tightly as possible for as long as possible. usually albert isn't a hugger, but something about the way race melts in his arms is addicting. the faint smell of smoke on his vest, the soot on his cheeks wiping onto albert's neck, where albert wouldn't want to clean, to keep that faint reminder of race on him for a little longer.

some mornings albert 'accidentally' puts on race's vest instead of his own, to smell his scent of smoke and sweat and warmth in winter. sometimes he climbs into race's bed with him just to Be with him. to feel race's warmth and smell his smoke.

being with race is the only thing he really wants, he thinks.

have we considered davey learns spanish for jack and then says something to him outa nowhere and jack js. does a double take. resets to factory conditions.. thoughts?

factory settings jack he just kinda stares dumbly at davey and says 'que' with the most dumbfounded look on his face ,.. davey giggles and that puts jack back to normal mode (normal mode is blushing like crazy and trying to remain normal but his voice is shaky from being flustered does that make sense)

davey learns the phrase 'you are so handsome' btw

Javey Sleeping Positions!!

I just KNOW Jack is the type of person to fall asleep anywhere, in any position, at any time, while Davey sleeps like he’s about to be cremated

I have some personal albert hc's based on a character workshop today (very based off of other peoples Albert hc's)

- he has a mother and two younger sisters, his dad either walked out or died

- his mother is either sick or drunk so it's mostly up to him to provide for his family.

- his closest/only friends are the New York newsies. he's very apprehensive of katherine at first.

- he wears his newsie hat backwards (though we knew this)

- he's super hyper masc and stoic and cold to hide his insecurities about his feminine traits- he wants to go to culinary school and become a chef, and is also grappling with his sexuality and a crush on jack/race

- the abscencr of his father also played a hand in his demeanour and insecurities, he never really had a male role model to show him how to act.

- he has anger/emotional processing issues becuase if his mental health, sexuality and absent father. it's very rare to see him smile, and the only times he really does in the show is during numbers like kony.

- during his rare downtime while he's not selling papes or caring for his mum and sisters he likes to visit this one diner downtown. sometimes they give him food for free or just let him watch the process in the kitchen. they don't let him help because they'd have to pay him and also hes too dirty but it's his comfort place. he would never tell the other newsies. the line cook there is a gay guy and he and Albert talk a lot about everything that albert would never open up to anyone else about.

anyway yah! that's my albert! my silly guy!
