Scarves noose my neck

As belts cinch my waist

I am buried beneath makeup

Mascara coating my eyelashes

My foundation paints a wall

As lipstick drowns my words

I am buried beneath branding

My favorite books build a terrace

A mosaic of who I am

Or what my songs disguise me to be

But nobody knows what my eyes

Look like late at night,
