Stuff kids on tumblr better relearn

1. You are responsible for your own media experience.

2. There is such a thing as a healthy level of avoidance towards topics that make you feel unwell or even (in a real-life clinical definition of the term) trigger you - but you are the one to actively take care of what you view.

3. Avoiding does not mean policing others.

4. You have no right to tell artists to censor themselves - you may criticize what others do, you may dislike it, that’s fine - but actively asking for censorship when you could easily unfollow or block a person just makes you look incompetent in your use of the internet.

5. Do not give people on tumblr or /any/ website the responsibility for your emotional well-being. Because these people do not even know you so no, you have no right to ask them to take care of you.

There's still Frodo hate going on in the tags... I really don't get when people get annoyed with Frodo for... getting hurt??? Like it's somehow his own fault? As the Ringbearer, he was a target anyway. And how dare he react like a normal person by crying out in pain when injured! Bruh.

I know he was more stoic in the book after being stabbed by the Morgul blade, and he challenged the Ringwraiths, (which was pretty cool, and sometimes I do love me some "I'm fine" when bro is not fine) but listen. The movie had to move things along more quickly, which meant that the poison had to act more quickly. I maintain that movie Frodo's response to the Ringwraiths when they were coming for him was more relatable.

Your dreams are a much more interesting vehicle of storytelling than any lucid thought of mine.

The Turtle People

My dreams are trying to therapize me again.

I was a member of the clan of turtle people. I was teaching the younger turtles how to move through sand, and they were starting to move in synchrony. They asked me, “How does it feel to carry the weight of the world on your back?”

“When I was young, it wasn’t so bad,” I replied. “The world was small then. As I grew older, the world grew large and complex. Some days I struggle to move at all under the weight of the world.”

I'm a little late but I've been thinking about the Ides of March and how it could be commemorated IRL, in a "remember that politicians are just humans" way. I was wondering if anyone had similar ideas.

Personally, I'd commemorate with a sort of game. You gather a bunch of people and one of them, typically one with the most authority, is elected as Caesar. You can have props like the laurel crown, or just a random crown and staff or something.

Caesar then gets to give each other player a dare to do, and if the players can't or refuse to do it, they get a slap or a spank. But then, once everyone was dared, Caesar receives a dare from each other player.

Tally up how many times Caesar refused or failed a dare, then add the number of times someone else did and got slapped. That's how many times Caesar gets slapped or spanked by the players.

Of course, this is supposed to be in good fun so there should be no dangerous dares and no slapping too hard. Instead of slapping you could also bonk the person with something like a foam noodle or a cardboard tube, or stab them with one of those prop knives that retract into the blade.

I guess one could also make a kinky version, I won't judge.

Anyway, that's how I would celebrate the Ides of March! I was wondering if anyone else had ideas!

It's such a shame too, the original version was a human-like group who had to change themselves into these cybernetic monsters just to survive. They wanted to convert humans as a mercy.

I feel like there's something valuable in the Moffat era in how often they independently crop up, and in the classic era for being able to see just a little bit of the actor.

Maybe there could be some kind of transhumanist story, where people actively become cybermen in an experiment to circumvent the need to terraform a planet so they can go out and collect resources on a struggling colony. It could have been going well for a while. These cybermen could have names, like the original, and eventually people decide to undergo conversion to reduce the resources needed to get by. Or the cybermen, seeing their people continuing to suffer, decide to remove that suffering by force.

IDK, just thought it'd be an interesting story idea.

the concept of the cybermen is magnificent. it's creepy. it's disturbing. it's the terror of undeath and the horror of coming back wrong. it's the endless march of capitalism, it's the commodification of disability aids, it's the ceaseless machinations of time. it's monopolisation. it's euthanasia as a substitute for healthcare. it's a lot of things. unfortunately many cyberman appearances can be boiled down to "scary army of robots invades" and frankly if i wanted to watch fiction about a robot and not the cybermen i'd just put on, well, robot.

did anyone else notice that Belinda knew the name of the Tardis when the Doctor had only called it his ship previously in the episode

Might I add: the death ray from The Weakest Link teleported people instead, and was yellow.

I think it's time to go back to the end of the last episode. The last scene, you know thr whole "the pieces of earth were in front of them but they didn't see them".

It's because those bits and pieces don't exist yet when they go look outside. Both in a "the earthvhasnt been destroyed yet" but also in a "what hasn't appeared onscreen doesn't exist yet".

And I love the this episode add to this with the whole "but once the camera is gone it keeps existing".
