Shigaraki brothers WIP
Couldn't get this thought out of my head. Just feral child Afo.
The idea of Yoichi possibly learning how to speak first and Afo not is just so funny and absolutely horrible to me.
Warning! THIS IS A LONG RANTISH POST ABOUT A HEAD CANON.
One of my favorite head canons about All for One (Dad for One specifically,) is that AFO HATES Endeavor. Not as much as he hates All Might, (I mean that's the man that stole his son away from him and turned him into his enemy with One for All,) but close, very close.
More in an envious way compared to his hatred for All Might.
Endeavor forced Rei into a quirk marriage with him so that they'd produce children potentially rivaling All Might. His whole goal was to surpass another in strength, neglecting and abusing his wife and children in pursuit of his own pride. He neglected his other children because they didn't have the 'right quirk'. Endeavor DECIDED to not praise his other children's accomplishments. He DECIDED to pit the children against each other by separating Shoto from his siblings because he was 'stronger' than the others, (even though he was a little kid.) We can easily assume that Endeavor didn't help his kids with their homework, comforted them when they were sick or scared, had breakfast with them, etc... He was a man, known for putting his own selfish desires and work above the needs of those relying on him.
Now we have AFO, Hisashi Midoriya, who sent Gigantomachia away after deciding to mention retiring for the first time in 200 years (why would you want to suddenly leave your work of being a massive dickwad so suddenly, unless you had a little family that became more important?) Hisashi who HATES All Might so much because he took this 'very important thing' away from him. Hisashi, who's main criticism of All Might is how he teaches heroics to children (Izuku,) which leads to them hurting themselves. Hisashi, who locked his brother in a bank vault, in this crazy attempt to protect him. He's a man who's obsessed with his family. And I like to picture him leaving zero traces of himself in the Midoriya's lives to protect them from his enemies. I like to believe he yearns for a peaceful, domestic life with his family. Afterall, this man has been through such a turbulent life thus far (being born into the dawn of quirks and being viewed as a freak, a demon, and then living life as a supervillain.)
I can see him wanting to analyze quirks with Izuku, reading to him, helping him with homework (especially history homework,) and comforting him when he's sick or scared. So, to him, Endeavor (while he also might have to had to deal with his family being targeted, we haven't heard of any occurrences when they were children instead of adults,) who DECIDED to not put his family first, and threw all of the experiences away for his own stupid obsession with a coworker. To All for One, Hisashi, Endeavor had everything he ever wanted and still DECIDED to reject it.
Now, in no way am I trying to make All for One the victim, he's a rotten potato that deserves worse than what he got from All Might. All of the villains in MHA have been humanized, we've seen their backstories, what they love, what they lost, what their goals are and where they originated from. All of the villains have had a backstory, aside from All for One. We know very little about him aside from what we've seen in Vigilantes and MHA, and the idea that all this man wants to do is be a father warms my heart. Like it's an obsession as you can see.
Ochako es un sol.✨
actually it's so important to me that Horikoshi didn't give Himiko a traditional cute girl smile in that one scene.
LOOK at her. her face is scrunched up because of how big of a smile that is. it's sharp and wide and wobbly and we can see her canines. it's a big toothy smile and it could very much be a scary smile because it's Toga Himiko and her wide toothy grins are dangerous and scary, but here it's not, it's just Himiko's smile, and it's not a warning, it's not mean or threatening and that's so important to me bc it makes the scene so much more impactful.
And Ochako looks at her and says (you're) the cutest in the whole world, and that is so so so important to me and I love them so much you don't understand.
It's so sincere. Ochako doesn't have a traditional cute girl smile or face either, she's bruised and she's crying and frowning and her smile is so small and her eyes are half closed like Himiko's, but not because of her wide smile, just because she's so tired, but she still answers Himiko and tells her you are cute, you're not a monster, you're a very cute girl, and I'm going insane actually.
Y luego Izuku obtiene One for all, lo que hace que el tiró le salga por la culata.
Okay, we all know Midoriya means "green valley" to reference his hair, but I got curious and looked at the wiki to see what his first name meant.
Izu - "coming out/being from a certain place, one's turn to go on"
Ku - "long ago, old story"
Ku is homophonous to nine, which is supposed to reference him being the ninth holder of OFA, but looking at the meaning, I can't help but wonder if this happened:
AFO: I can't wait for Repla- er... Little Yoichi to be born. Inko: Yoichi? AFO: After my dead brother. I hope he ends up looking just like him. Inko: ...You know, I heard that it's bad luck to name your child after a dead relative, because then they'll meet the same fate. AFO: But I want to honor him! Inko: *Looking through a baby name book* How about Izuku? It has the kanji for "one's turn to go on" and "long ago". AFO: How is that a reference? Inko: Well, it's his turn at life and your brother died long ago. Besides, it's homophonous to "nine" and your brother had the kanji for "first" so I think it fits. AFO: *Thoroughly convinced* Alright, Izuku it is.
Bonus
The PLF having visiting a hotsprings, I guess.
Omg, I forgot Trumpit...
Anyway, since I still can't draw anything with my busted ass laptop, I'm gonna be posting a lot of wips I've had hidden away for ages.
Yo soy Shoto en la vida.
I absolutely adored the charisma stockpile hc au~!
so au of that au where the platonic yandere part of the charisma quirk Izuku got works on all the vestiges for the 5 headcanons au~!
Bonus points for DFO cuz the previous one wasn't dfo
We're revisiting an early one for last!
The vestiges never expected to be affected by the charisma stockpile, but by the time it reached Izuku, it was so strong it could work on even past holders. They do not realize it at first. They just know this adorable boy is too perfect and precious to fight. Therefore they must do it for him.
The vestiges start possessing Izuku's body and destroying all his enemies. They also look after Izuku by making him meals and bringing him presents.
Izuku is a fanboy over the new vigilantes operating in the area and trying to track them down.
Shouto has a conspiracy theory that the new group of vigilantes are all the same person because they never appear at the same time and they're all short. They keep using different quirks, but what if they are connected to the mysterious quirk-stealing head of the underworld? Could the new vigilante even be All for One? But why is he destroying Izuku's enemies? What if All for One is Izuku's father? (Shouto has reached the correct conclusion by the wrong route.)
Yoichi gets stuffed in the vault by the other vestiges for trying to claim that he has the most rights to Izuku as his uncle.
The platonic yandere power has no effect on All for One because he was already at maximum levels of yandere. He's annoyed at all these fakes hanging around his son when they don't even have real feelings, just quirk-induced ones.
The vestiges team up with All for One to annihilate Muscular after he tries to kill Izuku.

Doth mine eyes deceive me? Is it a First/Second event?
Hikage is the only OFA user to be listed among the civilians (which makes me wonder about Yoichi)
2. The Second User's hair color is listed as salmon. Salmon is a shade of pink. The Second User had pink hair. He's a pinkette. (Edit: It can also be a shade of orange, but I like the idea of him with pink hair better. I think his hair used to be pink because he was a main character, but then he died so now it's orange.)
3. The Second and Third users are not listed as vigilantes. They were part of a resistance movement against AFO. (From now on, I will call them resisters. There's probably a reason for that, but whatever.)
4. Third's bandana is black. Not blood red like I assumed.
5. Nana also had to eat hair to get OFA
6. Hikage's hair color is white.
7. Nana's last name is spelled with the kanji for "determination" and "village", while her first name is spelled with the kanji for "vegetable" and "what". Her eyes are purple.
8. Hikage's name is always underlined in red whenever I type it. Spelling suggestions are "Chikage" "Hikade" and "Haage". (Not in the wiki, but this needs to be shared.)
9. Banjo has dull blue eyes and his goggles are described as stylish. (I think they kind of look like Aizawa's though. Does that mean Aizawa wears knock-offs?)
10. Musutafu is made up. The name is to reference the planet Mustafar in Star Wars. This means that I can do whatever I want in that city because it is made up. The best kind of city.
Ahora necesito un FanFiction donde Segundo sea el regalo de Navidad de Yoichi.
Yoichi Shigaraki: March 20th, the International Day of Happiness
(I like irony.)
Second: December 25th, Christmas
(He seems like the type to not care about holidays, so I made him born on one. There are some jokes I want to make, but I'll let you think of them.)
Third: September 8th, World Physical Therapy Day
(Best I could find that fit his quirk. Plus, now Yoichi gets to brag about being older than both of his heroes.)
Hikage Shinomori: July 28th, World Nature Conservation Day
(The man lived in a forest. In a different no-quirks AU, he would be a quiet librarian who seems so nice until some evil CEO decides to destroy a forest. Then he hits them with a dictionary.)
Daigoro Banjo: September 17th, International Country Music Day
(Look at him and tell me this isn't a man who listens to country music. He probably had a cowboy phase when he was six.)
En: August 1st, Lung Cancer Awareness Day
(I have a headcanon that his parents both had smoke related quirks, but theirs damaged their lungs. His lungs evolved to handle smoke though.)
Nana Shimura: October 4th, The beginning of World Space Week
(Since she could float, she was probably super into space stuff as a kid. Little Nana in a space suit making a space colony with LEGO. Think about it.)
AFO: June 6th, 6/6/6 so he really is a demon king.
(The only bad thing about this is that Yoichi talks about "catching up to him" every year.)
----
(All Might and Deku are not included because they already have their birthdays revealed.)
I literally died but have revived to make one thing clear…
En DEFINITELY has a closet full of the same outfit in different colors:
Blue, purple, green, fucking ochre he has it all
He has the entire fucking color wheel in that closet and nobody can stop him
I’m going to keep pointing out the yonic goblet One for All imagery every time it comes up.
(FYI: yonic imagery is the female counterpart to phallic imagery. Phallic symbols resemble male genitalia, like swords, obelisks, towers, etc. Yonic symbols are objects invoking imagery of female genitalia, often cups, cauldrons, chalices, goblets, wells, caves, tunnels, flowers, fruits, etc.)
One for All and the characters intertwined with it have too many themes surrounding birth/rebirth for this to be a coincidence: i.e.: Yoichi living on past his death, Izuku’s name having a character that can be read as “to be born”, All for One calling himself One for All’s father, all the pregnancy metaphors about One for All, and child Shigaraki tearing himself out vestige All for One, just to name a few.
10/10 y 100% en el personaje.
Hi!! I just got a crack idea: the Vestiges teaching Izuku how to drive. How do you think it would go?? I think they would all say different things and overwhelm Izuku, but All Might (being the cool dad that he is) is able to actually teach Izuku what to do
What a fun idea!
I don't think Yoichi knows how to drive. He had health issues and an overprotective brother who didn't want him to obtain independence. However Yoichi played some racing games so he thinks he knows enough to shout advice.
Second doesn't have a driver's license either, he just taught himself how to drive. Traffic rules are optional.
Third knows how to drive a truck but not a car. Don't ask.
Hikage spent his entire life in a forest, cars scare him. He is nowhere to be found during this lesson.
Banjo knows how to drive a tank but not a car. Definitely don't ask.
En was always too small to reach the pedals. He's sensitive about it and asking may result in damage to your kneecaps.
You would think Nana would know how to drive, but she always flew places, why would she bother with a car?
I agree that All Might is the only character who canonically can drive and would be able to actually teach Izuku.
So, after seeing some of the opinions from my mutuals and think about my own previous theory, I came to a conclusion with how this would fit in the narrative:
First of all, I wanted to mention the obvious, AFO's face.
Many speculated that the reason his facial structure looked different to everyone's else was because he is either White or Hori's heavy reference to Greek gods.
But, now, looking closer at his eyes as he gets younger, he has clear Asian features.
We all know Japanese people tend to retract Chinese people as somehow different, despite the same ethnicity.
So, If AFO truly is Chinese, it would explain his different face structure.
Well, second how this play in what we already know about him?
We all had somehow presumed he had a dark, tragic past, many are already sure he is a orphan.
We all always found weird that Yoichi, who is clearly younger, is named "first son", that could be due to the times hate towards Quirked people, so many presumed AFO was someone disowned or hated by his parents for having a quirk, therefore rejecting him and naming their second child as their first.
But that is a bit too complex, so now we are presented with the possibility that AFO was adopted by a family who already had Yoichi.
If AFO is really Chinese, it would explain why he has the surname "Shigaraki", a clearly Japanese surname.
But.. How did AFO go from China to Japan, to get adopted by the Shigaraki's?
Well, now that's the part I want to fill in with my theory:
We all know humans are shit, if someone is different, their life will be living hell, even in a futuristic society, the surge of quirks caused pain to thousands of quirked people, as we see by the Mother of Quirks story.
There is no doubt that the first quirked child to ever be born, would be experimented on.
This ties well with the fact All for One embraced the belief that he is a monster, to shape his own personality, his desire for control and changing everything to his own liking, as a way to reject back the society that rejected him first, it explains his central beliefs and background for his plans being "Society will always fear and reject the different".
He used that to forge Tomura, and plans to use that to cause chaos. He knows human hate and cruelty deeply.
Ok, we all knew AFO has a tragic past, we all knew he had a though uprising, being treated like a monster, but how it reinforces that he is the very first quirked child, and not just many of the first generation of quirked people who suffered as well?
Good question!
Now, I want to point out a very... Interesting, pattern in MHA.
It may sound a bit extreme, but don't blame me, blame Horikoshi!
1- We see by this panel, on the background, the main University of Tokyo, one of the greatest universities of Japan, which led to the belief that as an adult, AFO was a teacher, or a renewed doctor, a man with a carrier status powerful enough to make hundreds trust him and follow him.
And we know AFO must have been somewhere in the science field, to have met Ujiko, an also renewed doctor.
By the way, it leads to our second point, where things get.... hmm... questionable.
Did you know MHA is banned in China?
It's for a pretty heavy reason, just- the fact Horikoshi named Ujiko Shiga, as Maruta at first.
2- Maruta, is a Japanese term, used during the 2 world war, to refer to victims of human experimentation, mostly Chinese, by the unit 731, the Japanese Nazi facility knows for committing all types of medical atrocities against humans.
At first, I believed it was just a reference to the fact that Ujiko himself is a doctor that experiments in humans, as he creates Nomus, steals and copy quirks, and experimented on many orphans.
But- Horikoshi never do things without a good reason......
Right?
3- We know MHA is heavy in Human experimentation references and sketchy Eugenics logic.
Be it the Himuras building their family up on incest to not "corrupt the lineage"
Be it Shouto being born of a quirk marriage, an attempt of mixing 2 strong genetic lineages to form a new stronger power.
Be it Eri, being experimented on by Overhaul, to create weapons using her powerful mutant quirk.
Be it again, when Ujiko turned his own grandson into a winged nomu, and built thousands of hospitals and orphanages, to collect, and experiment on children.
Following this line... I wouldn't be surprised, if AFO's origin, someone who he himself has very... Fascist, point of views, has a lot to do with human experimentation... Eugenics... and Marutas...
A Chinese baby is born with a "weird feature", sketchy Japanese doctors got somehow their hands on that child, toke him to Japan, and experimented on him.
"Yo this sounds a bit far fetched- u sure u not delulu?"
I DIDN'T FINISH
It would solve the mystery of why a Chinese kid was raised in Japan. Why Hori risked getting his Manga permanently Banned to add a very heavy reference, why AFO is so desensitized with seeing children used in such a cruel way, why his views are full of hatred, and why he wants to change reality to his own needs, so badly, after all- they toke everything from him..... So why not, take it all back, from everyone?
Let's say somehow AFO escaped, he wondered through the streets of Japan, being seen as a monster, neglected, hated...
But for some reason, someone toke him in, the Shigaraki's Now- if the Shigaraki's where really a good family... Things would probably be different.
If the Shigaraki's where also as cruel- there was only one thing keeping AFO there. Yoichi.
All for One mentions multiple times that Yoichi is his only family, his only loved one.
But if they are not biological siblings, why would he care about Yoichi only, but not his adopted parents?
Perhaps the Shigaraki's adopted AFO, with the intention of using his quirks to cure or treat Yoichi's disease, nothing else, but, Yoichi himself was the only one, who ever treated AFO with kindness.
Ok, this all still doesn't explain how he got both AFO and the glow quirk. Just how he came out fucked up in the head and obssessed with Yoichi... BUT WAIT
We know Ujiko is capable of cloning quirks, making new quirks by mixing previous ones (Like happened to Kurogiri) and to implant multiple quirks in one body.
Who's to say, the doctors that experimented on AFO didn't have the same capacities?
What if... All for One, is a human created quirk?
Perhaps, AFO was used to steal quirks from other children, so they could be analized on HIM, or AFO was used as a cure for Quirkness, used by the doctors to remove the quirks of children of desperate parents.
"Ok ok nice, but wtf it has to do with AFO being a teacher or smth?"
Well- Who's better to understand quirks, and medicine, than the experiment himself?
IF, all i said until now makes sense, we can trace a time line.
All for One is born in China, taken to Japan, to be experimented on, the doctors manage to create a new quirk, to use as they please, All for One, as he is submitted to all types of things, but as a very observing child, starts learning as well.
He eventually runs away, maybe he used AFO to destroy the facility, or who knows, and walks alone through Japan, until a desperate family with a sick son, finds him.
OR maybe the head chef of the experimentation team, was Mr. Shigaraki himself, and "adopted AFO", as a form of hiding the experiments from the world, as well to also use him to try to help their only child, Yoichi.
(This would also exmplain why the name "Shigaraki", which literal translaiton mean "Death Grip Tree" or "Death Hang Tree", we know Hori likes to pun around with names, so what surname more fitting for such a horrible person? and the root of all evil. Yeah, i can see Hori naming a human experimentation head chef "death tree")
He grew to become attached to Yoichi, his only momments as a normal child being reading comic books with him. Yoichi, as a kind child, also grew to love his new brother no matter their differences.
Anything is possible, from there on, maybe he grew under Shigaraki's wing, or killed his adoptive family and ran away with Yoichi, whatever..
Keeping all his knowledge, as he grows older, he starts to study medicine, his expertise leading him to Japan's most important university, where he becomes a renewed teacher.... And plans society destruction in secret.
He has lost all emotion and empathy due to the torture he went through, so he uses more children for his own gain, repeating the cycle of abuse.
He at some point meets Ujiko, and with him they grow their empire during Japan's most chaotic times, while in private, he obsessed over the only one who ever loved and cared for him, his adoptive younger brother.
And this is how, All for One, became who we now know.
Also, this all kinda of makes us understand WHY All for One treated Tomura the way he did, he fabricated his own childhood and projected into Tomura, it gives a total new meaning to "he is the next me" besides the possession.
And if the theory that AFO's name is also Tomura Shigaraki, his uprising explain why someone would name a child "mourning" or "funeral" (the literal translation to "Tomura").

Thank you for reading!!!
Tiene bastante sentido.
I kinda wanted to share a few thoughts on why I think All for One possibly was a university professor, mostly because it’s a seemgly small thing but I think it adds interesting layers to him and possibly give us an idea on how his rise to power might have been so… here we go ^^’
1- The place where his last battle with the 2nd OFA user took place
Now, this was the detail about him that first set off this whole speculation train of though: as it was pointed out by @nakamafor on twitter isn’t any random place but rather the University of Tokyo.
Despite most of it being destroyed we can still make out that the walls of the Takeda Auditorium behind them, and the buildings around are also set in the same layout as the University of Tokyo
(kinda like they also noticed that the place being bombed for having people who oppose AFO also seems to be a irl place)
Now it seems that a lot of detail was included to this brief panel, true, but is it enough to conclude that AFO has any connection to this place? Was it just a coincidence that the battle took place in here?
2- Sensei
One of the most defining things about AFO that we know of is that he plays a role of a mentor, an autority, a Teacher. This was ever since his introduction, before we even knew about his connection to the noumus or to One for All
.
Also it is not unsual for him to go on long spiels and infodumping, it’s the role he seems most confortable with
3 - Ujiko
Ujiko’s backstory and the key event that brought him and AFO together was the article he released about the Quirk Doomsday theory, where he was the one to first speculate about the possibility that, as quirk evolves, they could reach a sincularity where there would be no way for control them or wield them in any way
Notably amoung his circle of academics he was widely rejected and the theory was met with disdain with everyone other than AFO. This was Ujiko’s side but what about AFO?
If anything this fact seems to demonstrate that AFO is acquainted with academic circles, and he paid close attention to studies regarding quirks. So it wouldn’t be a surprise if he belonged to theses spaces as a member, possibly as a professor.
4 - Boku
Now, we know that throughout the manga AFO and Izuku share many similarities and have many parallels.
Most notable is their affinity with quirks and using them by creating a combination
One of those similarities is that they both, in the japanese version use “boku” to refer to themselves in the first person. Which mean that “my hero academia” could apply to both of them, this story could be the one of the rise of the OFA user or the story of the greatest viilain, All for one.
In a way, this specific parallel is a mean to tie the plot, both how things started and how they will end. In one academy, rose of the Greatest villain, from another academy (UA) the greatest Hero of All time will rise along the people he saved and inspired, in order to defeat this Villain.
Ésto es totalmente Canon.
All For One: When I was younger, I was able to wrestle Yoichi into weepy submission and take his toys. Clearly, to take One For All, I need to do that again, so I need to find myself an angry, violent twisted little brat.
Me parece totalmente racional, y por ende me encuentro apoyando su noble opinión.
aside from "tragic lovers in a time of anarchy doomed to knowing they'll soon be dead but loving each other anyway", this is the best ichinii dynamic
Efectivamente, Yoichi es Barbie.
Lol.
this has probably been drawn before but I did it anyway <3
Check out this amazing commission of cross-dressing Yoichi from Poysean, a very talented artist with lots of Yoichi/Second art at https://twitter.com/Poysean5. I love it! The last chapter of The Dawn of the Age of Trioholders is now up, and fair warning it gets steamy.
I have a headcanon that yoichi is something like 6'2" but just looks small because he's next to afo. It's so random but it's always been on my mind, everyone thinks he's small but then you stand next to him and its like 👀
You know, that's an interesting assumption, and I'd even support it - then it would make sense why Izuku isn't as tall at 16 as Toshi was at that age (I took it for comparison, since Afo and All Might are over 2 meters tall).
But! We have footage from the manga where Nana and Yoichi are standing next to each other. And Nana is quite a tall and sturdy woman, she's definitely over 180cm. And Yoichi may well be the same height as her, or even taller - but because of his thinness and baggy clothes, he may appear shorter than he is. He's also often behind Nana in the shot, and because of this perspective, he can appear shorter - when he's at a distance from her he's touching her shoulder.
And we also have a frame of Yoichi and Second. And making rough sketches for comparison, it appears that Yoichi is taller than Second.
Of course, it's worth waiting for the official datebook with their profiles, but still....
💚🩷
i wanna know how long he was in the vault
Sketch! I did this a long time ago when I didn’t know how to digital art (i still don’t know how to digital art but 🤷♀️) Rather than having it sit forever on my computer I’ll leave it here! Yoichi scrolling TikTok or something while waiting for his buddies to join him in the void. It’s an old piece so I’m not too happy with it but I think the idea is cute anyway ^_^
I wonder what he’s looking at? Cat videos? YouTube reactions? Manga? Online shopping? Is he trying to troll AFO by leaving him mean comments and 1 star yelp reviews????
Maravilloso, sin palabras (literalmente sin palabras por qué no se inglés).
Here's my silliest AU where I take Rewound twink AFO and put him in UA High and I don't even have a plan
Part 1 (1 page)
Part 2 (2 pages)
Part 3 (2 pages)
Part 4 (1 page)
*Izuku gaining the quirks of the past users of OFA*
In the Vestige Void:
Banjo: Hey! How come he gets all the cool shit?
Yoichi: I don’t fucking know? He was quirkless so-
Yagi’s vestige: *making hand movements indicating to himself*
Nana: Toshi was quirkless when I passed on OFA. How come he didn’t get our quirks like Ninth?
Hikage: Probably because he’s All For One’s son, just a thought.
Yoichi: WE TALKED ABOUT THIS. MY BROTHER DID NOT GET LAID AND HAVE A CHILD-
En: That you know of.
Yoichi:
En:
Yoichi:
Yoichi: Fuck you all. Third, put up the GODDAMN CONSPIRACY BOARD-
Es un concepto interesante, pero prefiero los fantasmas.
I know there isn't any confirmation about spirits/ghosts existing in the bnha world but wouldn't the ofa vestiges world count? Deku is technically interacting with the dead right?
Not exactly. From a technical standpoint, the vestiges are not ghosts. The way I see it, ghost implies something more spiritual or supernatural, which isn't what's happening. What's happening is more akin to genetic memories, a popular sci-fi idea that memories can exist within DNA. The manga tells us that Quirks contain some degree of genetic consciousness or memories of the users. When "One For All" copied their Quirks into itself, it brought over that consciousness. As "One For All" grew in power, the Quirks and the vestiges were able to properly manifest themselves and talk to Izuku rather than being brief dreams. This is the same thing that is happening with Tomura and All For One. Think of it more like someone's brain being copied onto a computer and later talking to that person. They're still around after they died, but they're only copies of the original, not the various users coming back from the dead.
