Oh hey look it’s my favorite fucking scene in the entire series.
At this point, Barnaby’s been fighting for…God, who knows how long. He hasn’t made any headway. He’s exhausted. He’s utterly alone. He’s been preparing for this moment for twenty years and when it comes down to it, he’s failing and he’s not sure he can win. And if he doesn’t win, he fails not only himself, but the entire city.
And when he finally collapses, Kotetsu shows up out of nowhere to catch him.
Kotetsu, who was beaten so badly at the end of the last episode he ended up in the ICU, who until very recently was unconscious in the hospital. Who used his powers to heal himself just enough that he could get out here to help Barnaby.
Throughout the entire season, Barnaby has been the one who shows up in the nick of time to save Kotetsu. Hell, that’s how we’re introduced to his character. He’s the one who’s popular, who’s the new hotshot, who to all outward appearances doesn’t need any help.
But this scene illustrates more explicitly what we’ve already seen: Barnaby might save Kotetsu, but Kotetsu is always there to save Barnaby right back. It’s not as obvious or as high-profile as Barnaby swooping in to catch Kotetsu as he falls. It’s more subtle, like standing there to offer a listening ear or a show of silent support, a reminder that Barnaby isn’t alone anymore.
And even when they fight, even when Barnaby says “I can’t trust you anymore,” Kotetsu will still be there to catch him. Not with a quip or a joke or any snark, but with a soft smile and asking him if he’s all right.
Because they’re partners, and this is what they do.
Wanted to draw them!!!! it’s been a while since i rendered faces so it was good practice
I can’t believe I would have to start tagging spoilers for the show like the pjo book came out 10 years ago it’s old news that Luke was the villain move on
Look at these panels.
Loid is a perfectionist, in his line of work he has to be because any mistake can cost him his life. Anytime a situation doesn’t go the way he played it out on his head, he beats himself up harshly and starts overthinking.
But thankfully Yor keeps him grounded, reminds him that he’s still human. She reminds Loid that what he wants for Anya is completely different from what Anya wants for herself. Yes school and grades comes first, but she’s still a little kid at heart and Yor wants her to have fun while doing it. Even though he may make these little mistakes when raising Anya, Yor reassures him that he’s still a wonderful father, “A perfect 100 points!”
Now Nightfall, while I do think her one-sided love for Loid is very funny and tragic at the same time, I don’t think any real progress would be made for Operation Strix if she was his wife.
Look at these 2 particular panels, Nightfall is quick to criticize Loid for focusing his efforts on “playing house” with Yor, Anya, and Bond. But the core of his mission IS TO PLAY HOUSE because he’s a Father, Husband, Pet Owner first and Spy second. By this point he finally realized that and readjusted himself thanks to his experiences with Anya, Yor and Bond hence why he seemed a little angry when she calls them “accessories” because that’s how Nightfall sees the family “accessories” to the mission.
Compared to Yor, Nightfall’s approach to motherhood would no different than the very scientists that experimented on Anya and gave her telepathic powers. "Give me results, I want results. You're just a means to an end, I could care less about what you want. It's about what I WANT and I HAVE A DEADLINE TO MEET." In the end Anya would hate school more and it would just bring up bad memories of those scientists, causing her overall well-being to plumment and the mission to fail before it could gain any traction.
It's why Yor and Loid work so well. They may not be the perfect parents but they work so hard to give Anya the childhood they both couldn't have when they were younger. They understand what works and what doesn't and learn from their mistakes. Aside from being good parents they also strive to be the best fake Husband and Wife to each other. They lean on each other for emotional support and give reassurance even when they doubt themselves.
Although they deny it with every fiber in their being but they love each so much. Not only are they able to devote themselves even more to the reason why they became a Spy/Assassin, but they both grew and became better people because of it.
Soobin and Jisuk whenever Wooin is about to spar with someone:
Soobin and Jisuk when Wooin launches the first attack:
literally no one in this show is emotionally stable
