So many of you asked for a tutorial on how I paint faces/ add a light source, so here you go! đ Let me know if you guys have any feedback or if you want to try it yourself! đ
Hey how did you do that line effect on your models? asking for a friend.
So for a simple outline the easiest thing to do is open up your properties window (which should be displayed by default on the rightmost side of the screen. Itâs got all of your render and output info displayed) and go to the section marked âPost ProcessingâÂ
Open it and check the box called âEdge.â Thisâll give your model a nice little outline when you render it (you can change the color by clicking on the rectangular box underneath the threshold slider)Â
and thatâs just a simple way to get the basic result.Â
NOW if youâd like something a little more dynamic-looking, like thisÂ
Then youâll want to go back to the properties window and instead of clicking on âPost Processing,â click on the box marked âFreestyleâ (it should be at the very bottom)Â
Now, at the top of the properties window, click on the âRender Layersâ tab. Itâs gonna look like a stack of photos, right next to tab with the camera on it.Â
Once youâve clicked on that, scroll down to the very bottom of the window, and click on âFreestyle Line StyleâÂ
Once youâve opened that up, click on the âGeometryâ tab. Thisâll let you alter the style of the line.Â
and now you can add your modifiers! There are a lot of different styles to choose from, so donât be afraid to experiment with them! âSinus Displacementâ makes a sort of zigzag pattern, âBlueprintâ adds in some fancy circles, and âSpatial Noiseâ or âPolygonizationâ will typically get you that sort of loose, sketchy look if thatâs what youâre going for.Â
blender is pretty neat, huh!Â
Goat daddyÂ
actually please donât call him daddy : (
Aaahh so yeah. Iâm nothing amazing at trees, but my friend Huispe has been asking for this for such a long time now, I decided to finally do it. Hopefully it can be useful for any of you out there <3 (thereâs prolly plenty of typos in there too but I am just so tired right now aughhh)
Art tips for facial features?
I would love to help but you need to be bit more specific. âfacial featuresâ can mean a lot of stuff.
Most vague tip i can give is uh - silhouette, shapes and proportions: silhouette helps block out unique features, geometric shapes can aid with structure and keeping the same face consistent between drawings, and proportions convey characteristics like age easily to the viewer.
Do you have any advice for maintaining a celebrity's likeness in a drawing without compromising your art style? When I try to draw real people they look completely different from how they should be and my art style ends up totally skewed as well. Thanks in advance!
This is a tough skill to develop! but with some hard work and research youâll be able to do it!!!
My recommendation is to study professional caricature! Even if the end goal isnât to do exaggerated crazy portraits of the the celebrity, studying the art form can help you learn to apply those concepts more subtly in your own style!Â
The key element of caricature is studying a persons face and looking for what makes them unique or different from the âstandardâ anatomical face model, eg how do their proportions stray away form the ârulesâ.
once you take note of these things experiment by exaggerating them in different ways through quick thumbnail sketchesÂ

They might not look like the person right away but keep experimenting! trial and error is your friend!!!
(for more info on Caricature the Proko youtube channel has a whole in depth series by Court Jones the artist above!  I  Highly recommend checking it out and the other lecture series the channel!)
Once you have done this research you can apply it to your style and design the celebrity just like the design team on Netflixâs BoJack Horseman designed Character actress Margo Martindale! She and many other celebrity cameoâs on the show look like themselves but also like they belong in the world of the show!
The final thought I want to leave you with is: donât worry too much about art style or let it get in the way of learning new ways to draw. There is a lot of pressure on the internet to find your own unique art style and have everything be consistent all the time but this thinking can actually get in the way of your artistic growth if you focus on it too much or to early.Â
I Personally dont care about consistency at all in my art, I design the style of the drawing based on the project (eg. am IÂ going to animate this character, is it an illustration, what age group am I targeting? what Genre? if you want to see examples of this I have plenty on my instagram)
I have a lot of feelings on the topic of art styles but I dont want this post to be essay length or take me a week to write so please watch this video by Kesh on youtube about it : Stop Trying to Find Your Art Style He talks about this issue way more clearly and concisely then I ever could!
Hope this Helps!!!Â

i am SO sorry for the super long response, but i thought this might make a nice little tutorial opportunity, since soft body physics can be⌠frustrating, to say the least. iâve noticed that it tends to respond better to spherical meshes than most others, so getting it to work with something with a lot of hard edges and flat planes can be a little tricky (at least in my experience).
so! to get started, hereâs my basic setup
the only thing iâve done so far is place my object in the scene, along with a plane to act as the ground and a camera to record everything.
next you want to select your object, and in the properties menu on the right, select the physics tab (should be the very last one, the icon looks like a bouncing ball)
and for your object, you want to apply a collision and a soft body modifier (some people use rigid body instead of collision, so if you have issues with one thereâs a chance the other might work out better. as for me, i usually stick to collision)
then select your plane and apply the collision modifier only.
now when you hit the play button at the bottom of the screen, this happens
itâll just kinda float in place.
so to fix that, you select the object, go back into the physics menu, and look at its soft body settings
now uncheck the box that says âSoft Body Goalâ (thisâll let gravity do its thing)
now when you press play after that
poor dude just kinda dies.
so there are a couple things i like to do to help it not⌠do⌠whatever that is.
go back into your objectâs soft body menu and click on the tab that says âSoft Body Edgesâ
now underneath where it says âCollision:â you want to make sure that you have either âEdgeâ or âFaceâ (or both, why not live a little) applied to the object (this can help prevent clipping!)
weâre trying to make it wiggle nâ jiggle while still maintaining its shape, so what usually works for me is to crank up the âBendingâ spring as high as itâll go (which is 10) and enabling âStiff Quadsâ
and weâre left with this!
and thatâs how i do it! there are probably more efficient ways to get this effect, but for me

hello friend!! i have a tutorial i made on twitter a while ago which is more or less how i make my colours more interesting. i still use the technique and in general itâs just a lot of colour adjustment nothing too special LOL here!!
Hiya how do you draw arms crossed over?
