VIZ permanently has infected how this manga is interpreted in canonical discussion in so many ways.
Today i'll talk about when they made the translation error where vio says "shadow wasnt really evil" because in japanese he says
"shadow did all these evil things because, he wanted us to look behind and see him"
(the usage of reflect/look behind is so artistic to me btw cause. Shadow. Yknow)
also the bottom bubble says
"He really was lonely, that guy"
NOT whatever Viz put in, with the whole "he wants us to be Our Family" this misinterprets/twists shadow's original character quite a bit
also Shadow says to Vio after betrayal says
"you're worse than an evil person!!" (or more directly, "worse than a bad person, you are!!!) ((yoda ass))
and not .... whatever Viz put in there (best translation i can give)
VIZ also is just terribly translated and inserted a lot of weird "family friendly american lessons" (EX: He wanted us to be our Family) where there were not any, and took out a lot of meaning and characterization behind certain scenarios, (especially for blue) but thats another discussion...
remembering when my friend was playing ghost trick and voicing dialogue with a couple other friends, and one of them replaced the term "manipulator" with "homosexual" leading to me calling the meteor the gay bomb and establishing [redacted] as the gayest man to exist.
fun little danny phantom headcanon i came up with recently is, since the functionality of ectoplasm is mostly in fanon, i think that despite it technically being a biohazard in long amounts of direct exposure, just like, touching it won't cause any lasting harm. until you apply an electrical charge to it, then it becomes volatile to harm even living people. meaning if you put a source of electricity in an ecto-weapon, instead of just firing the ectoplasm itself, that shit'll hurt.
ghosts naturally carry some sort of charge in them at all times (their core i guess?) to power/trigger their attacks, with the more charge in them, the stronger their attacks are to both dead and living. the ghost zone itself is highly charged as well, making it dangerous for humans to wander around for long amounts of time without protection, but as it leaks out the portal, the charge dissipates into the air leaving it as just ambient ectoplasm and totally harmless.
so combine the high charge of the infinite realms with the probably millions of volts of electricity needed to power a portal to the land of the dead and well... :)
pretty proud of this so far :) it's fun drawing openly bleeding wounds
vivosaurs revived in other regions of the world may appear different
based on this
My interpretation of the Ache and Acheman if they were a species in Tears of the Kingdom, being a civilization in the Depths with their own village, hidden away from the Surface.
Inspired heavily by "First Impressions"'s Nyctori.
so i'm not entirely sure how to articulate this well but i was thinking about the ending of kingdom hearts 3 (as you do) and remembered something
okay so, this scene
chirithy is talking about losing powers, specifically the power of waking, which sora brushes off until he's told he'll disappear,
only to be himself and keep going to save kairi despite the (multiple) warnings
he's truly selfless to a fault for his friends
but he considers himself worthless without them, and is willing to sacrifice his very being for their sake, and even seems okay with it if it means they'll be okay
he so dependent on his friends and the people around him he can't see himself in a good light and seems to truly believe what he says in those screenshots
this mindset can even be seen beginning in kingdom hearts 1, when riku takes the keyblade and sora falls to his hands and knees, despondent. only to then be abandoned by donald and goofy, the two constants in his journey
and when sora does get the keyblade back, it's after his speech on all the people he's met and how his friends are his power
it's super cheesy and i love it and in the context of the first game it's perfectly fine, but taking in the context of the rest of the series, this seems to be the beginning of his unhealthy dependency on his friends
anyways i love sora so much but i also hope he has a segment in kingdom hearts 4 where he's completely alone, even away from strelitzia, so we can explore this part of his character more.
love how in so many fanworks i see of vio, he's not mentally ok and i just so happened to be reading a very good fanfic series when my friend out of no where said this and i felt it fit :)
the continuation really sells it
discord messages i sent that i think are really funny
