i was relatively healthy (neurodivergency not withstanding) up until 13 when some sort of viral encephalitis we didn't know about until a couple days at the hospital hit and suddenly "congratulations, you have epilepsy now :)"

apparently like one other kid ended up the same as me; not sure how many people it actually affected though

pokemon and daddy issues are synonymous it seems

chatting with friend about barry pokemon and trying to explain his fines, and I realized there's an interesting amount of daddy issues in pokemon

like, giovanni essentially abandons silver, then later on assumedly kills himself

of all the mainline protagonists only one has a known dad (i don't know about side games), and even then norman is distant and seems to rather be a gym leader than a father

palmer lives on an entirely different area of sinnoh, as well as also seeming emotionally distant considering the reason for barry's fines (tbf i don't know a whole much about the battle zone)

and arven just has parent issues in general depending on the version you play

some people think writers are so eloquent and good with words, but the reality is that we can sit there with our fingers on the keyboard going, “what’s the word for non-sunlight lighting? Like, fake lighting?” and for ten minutes, all our brain will supply is “unofficial”, and we know that’s not the right word, but it’s the only word we can come up with…until finally it’s like our face got smashed into a brick wall and we remember the word we want is “artificial”.
