I watched this movie for the plot
“Donnie!” Someone shouted, and there was a sudden flash of blue light. Donatello found himself halfway across the store, and someone was tightly gripping his shoulders. Shaking him. Donnie raised his head achingly slow, and found he was looking directly into the eyes of his blue-clad leader. His twin, as Leo often called them. Leonardo doesn’t make as many jokes as he used to, the purple-clad turtle thought distantly. Leo shook him again.
“Donnie, dude, you’ve gotta snap out of it. Donnie!” The look of deep, unfiltered concern on his brother’s face was something Donatello was still getting used to. Why was Leo so worried again? Why did Donatello’s head hurt so bad? Why did his body feel so… heavy?
“Urgh,” Was all Donnie managed to force out before he tried again, ears ringing. He rubbed profusely at his forehead as the continued sound of clashing, shouting and the occasional ‘Hot Soup!’ Rang out nearby. “What th’hell wuzzat?” He slurred.
Leo huffed, looking over his shoulder, checking on Mikey and Raph. Itching to get back into the fight. “Seems the Big Bad Pig can sap mystic energy,” Leo said, eyes finding Donnie’s again. “Don, your shell…”
That snapped him out of it. Leo’s hesitant words pierced through the fog in his mind and shot ice through his limbs as Donnie’s eyes widened. His battle shell was gone. He hadn’t grabbed a physical one, they had all been in too much of a hurry and Leo had rushed him and his brothers through a portal, so the soft-shell had simply summoned one using his mystic energy. When Meat Sweats had grabbed him, the protective shield had fizzled out…
Donnie quickly tried to get back on his feet, squeezing his eyes shut in concentration in an attempt to materialize a new shell. Purple energy crackled weakly around Donnie’s body until he was swaying from the exertion, black spots dancing across his vision. Damn, he hated that pig. Leo gripped Donnie’s shoulders even tighter.
“Whoa, hey, dude, not cool! Take it easy-”
“Leo! Don! We need y’all up here!” Shouted Raphael from the front of the store, dodging a swipe from Meat Sweats’ tenderizer while Mikey wrapped his chains around the mutant pig’s waist, yanking him back with a force that left the ex-chef flat on his face. Leo forced Donnie to sit back down.
“Don, sit tight until you’re feeling better, okay?” Leo was gone in a flash of blue before the soft-shell could protest.

Check out my new ROTMNT fic! Takes place post-movie, and explores Donnie and Mikey’s new insecurities within the new team dynamic. Leo and Raph had been through so much, and the bond between the two had grown that much stronger. Donnie and Mikey feel like they have something to prove; not to their older brothers, but to themselves.

Super Mario Bros. Plumbing Commercial - The Super Mario Bros. Movie
I love how in the movies Legolas is portrayed as this stoic, immovable force that WILL step on you of given the opportunity and he is physically incapable of making flaws but in the books he’s the elf equivalent of an angsty teenager
