Darling Traps Them In A Room To Escape (Yandere Haikyuu Headcanons)

Tendou Satori:

“Darling, surely we’re not doing this now?”

“You know, I don’t think I like this game, YN. I suggest you end this before you cross a line you can’t come back from.”

You gulped but continued the search, digging through drawers and cupboards to find anything resembling a key. Tendou’s voice drawled from where you’d trapped him in the bathroom.

“Taking advantage of a man while he’s got his pants down—not cool, YN.”

You try to ignore him, try to stay focused on what you’re doing, but it’s so hard.

So hard when all he’s doing is heckling you in that damned tone of his.

Like you were a little kid playing an adult’s game.

That’s how he’d always been though, ever since he first kidnapped you. He treated you like you didn’t know how to handle yourself in the real world. He acted like you needed him to watch your every move and teach you how to conduct yourself.

That’s how your relationship had been before, when you were just a regular couple, but it was when you took notice of his gaslighting and tried to break up with him that he’d taken you.

No, YN, you can’t keep getting distracted. Stay focused.

Glancing back over at the front door to the apartment, you counted the locks once more. Three double-sided deadbolts, two padlocked latches. Somewhere inside the apartment were five keys Tendou never dared to leave without. You just had to find them.

“I’m getting bored in here, could you at least slip me a deck of cards or something? Otherwise I might lose my mind.” The teasing lilt hinted at the smirk on his face. No doubt he was utterly, completely calm. He always was when it came to you, because he thought he knew you like the back of his hand.

“Shut up in there, Satori!”

He snickered. “Well that was uncalled for.”

Like always, he knew how to get under your skin. Goosebumps rose on your skin, and you tried to shake off his taunts, dragging a hand through your hair with a deep breath.

He can’t win. I won’t let him. He’s not getting away with this.

“How about a snack at least, darling, pretty please? The toothpaste is starting to look appetizing.”

Nothing, absolutely nothing. You couldn’t find keys in the living room or the kitchen, so you resorted to investigating the bedroom.

When Tendou heard you approaching, he began to hum playfully. It was that song, the one he’d murmur while running his fingers along your skin, while tugging you in close after coming home from work. He’d whisper it into your hair at night, or you’d hear him singing it in the shower while you were still in bed.

“You are my sunshine,”

You slammed open the door into the bedroom, trying to block out the voice that rang out from the door right across from you.

“My only sunshine,”

Clenching your jaw, you began digging through the dresser, pushing aside clothes and feeling along the undersides of the drawers.

“You make me happy,”

With a huff, you gave up, moving on to Tendou’s nightstand. At the sounds of your struggles, his voice seemed to get louder, grow clearer.

“When skies are gray,”

Handcuffs and their keys, but none of which would fit the locks. You remembered when he’d first used them on you, the first night he kidnapped you. He was afraid you would do something “stupid” like try to attack him and hurt yourself in the process, so he’d shackled you to his headboard for your own personal wellbeing.

“You’ll never know dear,”

You slammed the drawer shut at the sight of them and moved to feel under the mattress, trying to ignore all the crumbs and dust that gathered under your fingernails amidst the attempt. Tendou, meanwhile, just kept growing louder.

“How much I love you,”

Then you felt it. Metal. A whole ring of it, too. Five keys jingled together when you yanked them out from under the bed, almost falling onto your back from your overzealous force. You almost teared up at the sight of them.

I’m getting out of here. I can see my family again.

Maybe your life would never return to normal, not after what Tendou had done, but you could certainly try. You missed humanity. You missed the outside world. How long had it been since you’d seen green grass or felt the warmth of the sun on your face? How long had it been since you’d felt rain dampen your hair or traced your eyes along the stars in the sky?

Too long. Far too long. At some point, you’d given up keeping track, but not anymore.

“Please don’t take my,”

You pulled yourself to your feet, misty eyes still stuck in wonder upon the ring of keys in your hand.

“Sunshine away.”

Turning toward the door, you felt the keys slip from your fingers, cluttering loudly when they hit the floor.

Tendou stood in the doorway, his head tilted to the side. A single red brow raised, his eyes wide with slitted, shrunken irises. He towered where he stood, spiky red hair close to brushing the top of the door. Long arms extended out and gripped the edges of the doorway, nimble fingers tightening around the wood.

 A small smirk peeled back his lips.

“Well,” his eyes slipped down to the keys on the floor before gliding back up to your face, “nobody can fault you for trying.”

Mouth open in shock, your whole body began to tremble. A drop of cold sweat slid down your back.

His hands loosened from around the doorway, dilated pupils still latched on your form as he made his way toward you. When he stopped, he bent low, his breath brushing the stray hairs along your face as he snagged the keys from the ground with a tut-tut of his tongue.

His other hand swept up and grabbed your chin, forcing you to close your mouth with a warning tap to your lip.

“Guess I’ll have to find a new hiding spot, now, won’t I? Though, this certainly was the most fun we’ve had in a while, darling.”

You didn’t even flinch when his lips ran along yours. “Who knows?” he shrugged, pulling away. He tapped your nose with his finger before intertwining your hand with his, leading you from the room. “Perhaps, if you ever try this again, I could turn it into a scavenger hunt. Give you clues and such from wherever you try to trap me next.” He snickered. “Now wouldn’t that be fun?”

You didn’t respond, face turned toward the keys he’d tossed behind carelessly onto the bed. It was like he wasn’t worried you would make an attempt toward them. Like he wasn’t worried you’d ever get the chance.

“Of course, like then, you’d be punished afterwards for trying, but isn’t that part of the game?”

“Punished?” you stuttered, taking the seat in the barstool he encouraged you into before releasing your hand, moving to the other side of the kitchen island to scour the fridge.

He stopped his search, pulling out a carton of eggs and eyeballing the date. “Well surely you didn’t think you could try to leave me without there being consequences.” He didn’t even spare you a glance as you blanched. “But don’t worry, that fun will come later.”

Then he set the carton of eggs on the counter in front of you with an all-too pleasant grin on his face. “Now, how’s about eggs for breakfast, sunshine?”

Darling Traps Them In A Room To Escape (Yandere Haikyuu Headcanons)

Hinata Shouyou:

It’s when he’s approaching to kiss you that you are able to lock him up.

It’s the first time he’s ever done such a thing; though he’s the one who’s kidnapped you, you are the one who dictates how far he can go before you pull away.

Of course, he’d been disappointed the first few weeks when you didn’t want him to touch you or even see you at all.

But after a particularly bad day, when he’d come home crying and bawling and tugging you into his arms, curling around you, you’d been given a little less leeway on just how much you could pull back from him.

It seems, though he’d been addicted to you in general before, he was now addicted to your touch specifically.

“YN, please! Why are you doing this?!”

He’d come home that night in a bad mood, and for some reason you were sure he’d talk your ear off about while hugging you on top of him on the sofa later. But right now?

…Right now, he had a different idea.

“I’m tired of waiting, YN,” he’d whined as he approached, though there was a dark glint in his eyes. For every step he took toward you, you took one back. Step, step, step, step. He just kept following you.

You hadn’t realized he’d cornered you in his bedroom until you felt the backs of your knees hit the mattress.

“YN,” he hummed, rough hands cupping your cheeks as a strand of red hair fell over his eyes. “Can I just have a little?” His gaze fell on your lips. “Just a taste? I promise I won’t take any more.”

“Just a little.”

A flicker of pink as a smirk grew on his face.

I don’t want this. I swear I don’t want this.

No! I don’t want it!

His face was so close you could feel the heat of his gasp mingling with yours the second your knee flew up to meet his groin.

“AGHH!” he screeched, tugging himself away. Hinata dropped to his knees, hands cupping his crotch as he let out small, pained whimpers.

That was when you ran out of the room, dodging his grasping hands and slamming the door behind you. You grabbed the first thing you could think of to shove in front of it.

“YN-”

In a matter of seconds he was up and at attention, slamming the door against the sofa as you pushed it in front of the doorway. The hefty furniture effectively crammed itself in the small hallway of its apartment and limited the angle he could open the door to just a sliver.

“YN! Please, don’t do this! Please!”

“Just let me out, we can talk about this!”

“I know you’re unhappy, but don’t you see I’ve been working so hard to change that? Please, just let me out!”

A single brown eye peered at you through the sliver of the door, pupil dilated and lid unblinking.

“I thought I was giving you enough, YN. What do you want? Do you want a puppy? My neighbor has the cutest dog, YN, I promise. You’d love it,” he pleaded, faux excitement tainting his voice.

The single eye followed your every move as you paced around the apartment, mumbling to yourself about what to do, how to get out. “I could get your favorite food! It’s just down the street, I know you’ve wanted it. I was planning to get it tomorrow to celebrate our two-hundred day anniversary, but I can get it now if you like! Call it our one-hundred and ninety-ninth day anniversary! It could be our thing!”

“Please, YN, it could be our thing. Remember how we used to have things?”

You tried to ignore him. You really did. As you dug frantically through his cabinets and shelves, his desk drawers and bathroom cupboards, you considered shoving a couple cotton balls in your ears just to block out his nervous exclamations.

The thought did cross your mind, but only for a second. Soon enough, the blood pounding in your ears was doing the job. Your mind fogged as you searched, struggling to believe that you had a chance to escape.

Is this real? It was this easy all along? That was all I had to do?

Hinata’s cries weren’t helping your nerves any. Instead, you felt your shoulders grow more tense each time you heard his desperate, breathy voice. You felt like curling in on yourself and giving up.

It can’t be this easy. What the hell is going on?

You glance back at the door, staring at the lock that lined it. You’d consider breaking a window, but you knew the apartment was on the fifth floor of the complex; jumping from that height would be a death sentence.

You hadn’t completely lost your will yet.

No, no. You just needed to find the keys. The door on the outside appeared normal, wooden. On the inside, though, Hinata had gone through the trouble of layering it with a few sheets of metal. One could kick the door in, but could not kick it out.

The keys.

Where the fuck are they?

“YN, I love you. So, so much. I just wanna see you, please! Let me see you at least.”

He pounded against the door with his fists, tremoring the door and the sofa, but not moving it. Tears pricked your eyes at the sound; you were so close, so goddamn close. You weren’t sure how Hinata was going to react after this if you didn’t escape, and you didn’t want to find out.

“Fuck,” you hissed under your breath, eyes darting around the living room as your hands yanked at your scalp. “Fuck!”

“YN, please.” His was quiet, more forlorn than you were ever used to. “I don’t want you to leave me. I get so lonely without you.”

“Lonely, huh?” The words crawl up your throat before you can stop them. “You think you’re lonely?” A headache forms at your temples, but you ignore it as you storm toward his room. “You don’t know true loneliness until you’ve been trapped inside your crazy ex-boyfriend’s apartment, no friends, no family, for days on end.”

“You think you’re lonely, Shouyou? Try putting yourself in my shoes.” Frustration has formed a weight in the pit of your stomach. You feel glued to the floor waiting for his response, almost… almost, you supposed, hoping for an apology of some sorts.

You loved him at some point in your life, and, no matter how insane he looked and sounded when he said it, he loved you too. You just wanted to know if he felt even an ounce of pity for what he had been putting you through.

“Shouyou, I just-”

“You’re lonely, YN?”

You pause, voice caught in your throat. Hinata’s tone is tainted with nothing but genuine curiosity. Somehow, though, you feel like you’ve messed up.

“I-...um-”

“Are you lonely without me?”

Shit.

“YN.” You catch his eye in between the small opening of the doorway. His gaze is intense, suddenly focused and attuned to his surroundings. “Say it again.”

“Say you get lonely when I leave you at home. Say you miss me when I leave for games and practices.” There’s a creaking sound of sorts, but you can’t quite tell where it originates from.

“Please, I wanna hear it again. Say you want me around all the time, that you need me close by so you don’t feel lonely anymore. Say it.” Breathy, yet goading.

Shame and anger raise a heat to your cheeks, and you’re flustered that Hinata has misconstrued your words in such a way. You didn’t want him. No, you didn’t. What you wanted was to not be locked away and deprived of human contact like you were.

That was all.

Creak. “You’re so cute when you blush. But don’t worry, YN, I won’t tease you. I’m just so glad that you’re finally being honest. Lonely without me? God, YN, I’m so in love with you.”

Creak. “I’ll never make you lonely again. I’ll make sure of it.”

Crack.

Adrenaline in the heat of the moment allows people to do amazing things. You’ve heard stories of mothers lifting cars, people bending metal or jumping from buildings. Doing things that should be impossible.

You supposed that was why it was so easy for Hinata in that moment, all riled up by your words and your actions in such a short amount of time, to crack the door in half. The one hinge the upper-half was still attached to allowed it to fly open, barely catching its splintered wood on the back of the sofa.

One second, you watched in horror as the half-door slammed against the wall, rattling the hanged picture frames.

The next, you saw a flash of orange before your back slammed against the wood flooring. A throbbing pain shot up your spin and down to your tailbone, but something sturdy and soft cradled the back of your head so your skull didn’t suffer the same fate. A weight, not necessarily overpowering, left you cemented to the floor, legs out flat as your arms lay limp at your sides, numb with shock.

Hinata sat above you, on his knees and straddling your thighs. One hand, as you figured, was behind your head, lifting it so you could face him. The other, though, hovered over your face, trembling.

A look of wonder was painted on his face as he watched you. And if you looked closer, you could have seen a hint of adoration.

“YN,” he whispered, his hand finding home cradling your cheek. “I mean it.”

“I’ll never make you feel lonely again.”

And then he kissed you, desperately.

And you hated yourself, despairingly.

Because, deep down, you felt some vile, repulsive hope that he was telling you the truth.

(I’m the anon who requested a part 2 of the Michael grey fic) I have some ideas :) if Michael grey is in the process of healing but still isn’t strong enough, what if his darling began missing home more than she loved him, and tried to escape to go home? Or maybe it could be when he’s healing he becomes very clingy and his darling is there for him to cling to? Have a good day/night!

Lost and Found (Yandere Michael Gray x Reader)

(I’m The Anon Who Requested A Part 2 Of The Michael Grey Fic) I Have Some Ideas :) If Michael Grey

*GIF not mine*

Summary: Michael is weak and desperate for you after being bedridden with his gunshot wounds in the hospital, but after weeks of caring for him, you know your feelings for your former kidnapper have grown into something you don’t dare confess. One night, when you almost let your feelings slip, you decide to flee. Michael won’t let you go so easily.

Part 1

A/N: not exactly what was requested, but it was an idea I had rattling around in the ol' hat rack for a while. Can be read as a standalone, but it is part 2 of "Gray Chains," so either way ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ enjoy!

Word count: 2664

You can see him approaching you now. Through the crowds of swaying people, of hazy smoke and jazz hanging in the air of the dark, gilded nightclub, dressed in a tuxedo of white with a red bowtie at his throat.

There’s a hungry look in his gaze, but that’s only because he’s been starved of you for hours. Five weeks of sitting in that hospital room with him, catering to his every need, his every desire. All because you’d accidentally fallen for the man that had left you tied to his bed for days on end.

In that white, suffocating room full of antiseptic and nurses filtering in and out, you’d sat there one night in a chair, pulled up next to his bed. Your bottom was numb and hot from the sheer number of times you’d been in that same position by his side.

His hand had been curled around yours, and according to the dimmed lights around the room and the darkness creeping in from the window, it was around ten or so at night. On his hospital bed, he lay flat on his back, still wrapped in surgical tape and stitches. The blue patches of skin under and around his eyes had begun to fade paler, almost matching the yellowed, stitched skin on his chest. His eyes drooped, the gunmetal blue in them tainted with exhaustion.

Still, somehow though, he found it in himself to smile at you, pulling your hand up to his lips with a doting sigh and peppering kisses along the back of your hand. His hair fell into his eyes during the act, and you brushed it back from his forehead into alignment with the other, freshly dampened strands.

He paused his ministrations. Pressing his lips one final time against your knuckles, his gaze found yours. “I love you,” he whispered, his breath warm on your skin.

He said it every night. He said it every morning too, and at least twice during each midday.

You’d never said it back. You never felt the need to; to you, he was just supposed to be the kidnapper you’d found yourself forced to take care of. You’ve had the deplorable feelings and thoughts that came with you being around his loving self every day, but you’d never dared to give in to the words.

Now, you’d felt them ghosting your lips. You’d felt your resolve break, and you’d actually told yourself there was no harm in returning the sentiment. He had won you over.

A panic struck your chest at your realization, and you fumbled back into your chair, mind frantic.

Michael was completely unaware. Like usual, his brows twitched and furrowed at your lack of response, and he released your hand, settling himself carefully underneath the blanket and watching as you did the same in the chair beside him. Dutifully, he waited until your eyes fell closed and your breath steadied before giving into his own exhaustion.

“Goodnight, love.”

And when his soft snores began to fill the room, you fled. With a pocketful of the stack of cash Tommy had delivered earlier to pay for Michael’s hospital bills, you walked, carefully blank-faced, through the quiet, marble halls and out the door before hailing a cab to London.

Eden Club.

The pub the cab driver had recommended to you after the look on your face and your voiced need for a drink. You’d nodded absentmindedly, and now you found yourself in the heart of the thumping room, chandeliers twinkling on the ceiling and gold laced throughout the alabaster floor. At one of the few tables surrounding the group of dancers, you sipped on a red wine, the strong, thick flavor intoxicating your senses until you couldn’t understand why you were in the pub at all.

But you knew it was Michael. It had to be. Who else would approach you in this pandemonium of sweaty, inebriated bodies? Saxophones wailed as a singer of sorts crooned into his microphone so many feet behind you, and you flinched as someone bumped into the back of your chair while making their way to the party floor.

No, it wasn’t Michael, you realized now. The waiter in the all-white suit approached you now, a sommelier, in all actuality. The wine cloth over his arm was stained from many former visits, and you realize now that the bottle in his hand is of the same kind as the drink in your glass.

The sommelier catches your eye, and before he can open his mouth to offer another glass, you shake your head, waving away the bottle.

Not Michael.

You watch as he nods, approaching the other tables around you in turn, the same offer filling their ears.

No, you think to yourself, cupping your wine glass with both hands and losing yourself deeper in the crimson liquid. No more tonight. Your hands tighten, the one around the stem feeling so close to cracking the glass.

A breath, not quite relieving after the fright you’d just had, escapes you. You’re not quite sure how long it’s been since you’d left, but it must be somewhere close to two a.m. by now. Michael will have awakened at least once or twice in the span of time you’d left, and certainly now he’s asking around about your whereabouts--presumably impolitely.

Presumably with threats and torture, if his cousins had received a call.

You try to care about the people who may have been hurt in your wake, but the fog that’s come to muddle your mind is making sympathy difficult. The rich, sweet taste is still on your tongue, and you wonder vaguely if your mouth is stained red at all.

Jewelry clutters and chimes on the dance floor, women’s bracelets and earrings and even men’s stopwatches jingling around the room. Some men, few and far between in the effervescent club, idle about with their canes, abrupt claps of solid wood against marble floor interrupting the beat of the song.

Behind you, that same clinking piques your ear in a steady rhythm, the pace surprisingly uninterrupted by the large number of people bumbling about. Though you haven’t seen the waiter with the cane before, his presence is uncomfortably close behind your back now. His hand reaches around, grasping the pair of yours in his own before his wine bottle comes into view.

“No--sorry,” you stutter, watching a bit flustered as the glass fills substantially, “I told the other waiter I don’t need any more.”

“Believe me, love, you’ll need another drink.”

You snap your mouth shut, eyes locked on the glass as Michael keeps pouring until the wine is level with the rim. He slams the bottle onto the table, trembling the surface so hard liquid sloshes out and onto the tan tablecloth.

He comes into view from behind you, and you draw a line from the clinking to the cane in his hand. You suppose you should have figured. Prior to leaving, one of the doctors seeing Michael had decided that he would soon be ready to walk, though with aid.

He sets the cane’s handle against the table before settling into the seat across from you. The lines in his forehead are angry and deep, especially in the dim lighting of the pub. Out of the pocket of his black overcoat, he pulls a pack of cigarettes, not bothering to offer one to you as he lights it with a match and adjusts himself. His mouth twists into a frown, and he hisses under his breath in pain.

One cloud of smoke floats from his mouth through his nostrils and then escapes in one long stream. Then he draws his eyes up, and the second his gaze locks on yours, you know you can’t run any longer.

You swallow. His eyes follow the movement, and when a flush crawls up onto your face, he inhales again.

“You found me.”

“I did.”

You fall silent, and an air of sobriety seems to clean out the fog in your mind. You can feel it now, the pounding heartbeat in your ears down through your fingertips. Despite the implications of his presence, you can’t help the comfort that buzzes underneath your skin.

Michael found you like he always did.

That was supposed to be a bad thing.

“Didn’t take you long.”

“You didn’t cover your tracks well.” He exhaled, two streams of smoke filling the air as he watched you. “The second you were mine, you were a Peaky Blinder. You left as a Peaky Blinder, so all eyes were on you.” His jaw tightened. “Perhaps you should have thought your escape through better.”

You pause, lips screwing shut as you traced with the rim of your wine glass. The room seems to have grown hotter, and for a second you feel like your breathing is far too audible. Underneath the table, a pressure against your knee causes you to flinch.

Michael crosses one knee over the other, a brow raised as his eyes bore into you. His stare crawls over your skin, claiming your face, your bare collar bones, down to the arms and then the fingers you can’t seem to keep steady. He’s unimpressed on the surface, especially with your performance tonight. Beneath all of that, though, you know he has some plan formulating in his mind. Perhaps it’s already in motion.

The look in his eyes is calculating, critical. As always, you feel as though he controls your next move. He was always so good at predicting you. That was how he got you in the first place.

He takes another drag and taps the ashes out in the tray set on the table, waiting expectantly.

“It wasn’t planned,” you look away when Michael scoffs, “if that… makes you feel any better.”

“Do you think it does?” he jeered, leaning back into his seat with a curled lip.

You shook your head. “You don’t even know why I left.”

“I have a few guesses, love, but please, enlighten me.”

“Do you remember what happened? Before I left?”

“Only the usual things.” He huffed. “You fell asleep, or at least pretended to, and when I did, you bolted.”

“Before that.”

His jaw twitched, and he dropped his crossed leg to the ground, leaning forward and smothering his cigarette out with a slam of his hand, every movement quick and violent. “When I told you I fucking loved you, was that it? Was that why you did it?” He reached out and tore the glass from your grasp, throwing it against the floor. “You think I’m some fucking monster for loving you, for wanting you for myself.” His eyes flashed with rage, and with his teeth bared, he spat, “You left because I love you.”

“I left because I love you,” you hissed.

Michael’s eyes widened just as yours did. His lips fell open, and all anger on his face softened and disappeared.

“W-what?” he whispered breathlessly.

While a breath caught in your throat, you felt a tightness in your chest fade away. The fog that seemed to swim around inside your head for the last hour had finally dissipated, and you could clearly feel the regret clawing at your heart while battling another emotion.

“It’s not right—it’s wrong. So fucking wrong.” Tears begin to prick at your eyes, and you try to fight them away with the pressure of your palms.

“That’s why you left.” Michael sounded in a daze. “Because you love me.”

You stayed silent, battling a headache as the tears finally fell. It was hard to breathe, but at the same time it was as though you’d caught the first breath of fresh air in weeks.

Fingertips grazed your wrists, peeled your hands from your eyes.

“You really love me?” he asked quietly, almost desperately.

You fell back into an old habit, the words I hate you grazing your lips, but even the thought of letting them fly pained you as much as you knew they would hurt him.

God, you didn’t even want to hurt him. You loved him.

“This is so fucking wrong,” you muttered again, a sob almost following.

All it took was a smile on that fateful day.

You saw the cute boy—man—on the street, the one whose eyes were watching you with fascination, and you’d smiled back.

The next time you saw him, he was breaking the glass of your bedroom window, fumbling to get inside and barely snagging your ankle when you’d tried to flee.

It’s all so wrong.

Until recently, you could still feel it, that chain around your wrist, like a phantom that haunted you every other day you’d fallen asleep in the chair at his hospital bedside. The one he used to keep you in his bed, his home, the one that stopped you from fleeing and made it so that all you’d known for months was Michael and his overbearing, delusional love for you.

You couldn’t even feel that anymore. He’d finally gotten through. He won.

So, so wrong.

Michael caressed the skin of your wrists, pulling your hands closer and littering kisses along your palms. “Love, you’re perfect, do you know that?” His lips ran along your fingertips. “Just perfect,” he hummed.

He rose to his feet, releasing one of your hands to grab his cane before rounding the table toward you. Beneath his shoes, broken glass crackled.

Using the hand in his grip, he lifted you to your feet.

“Let’s get out of here, love. Come on,” he released you and instead placed a hand on the small of your back. “I have a cab waiting outside. Let’s get home.”

Michael ushered you past the swaying, sweaty crowd, out from underneath the smoke that hung in the air of the club, and into the clean, cold atmosphere of the outside. You barely registered the nodding of the club bouncers at Michael, nor the familiarity of your cab driver’s face as he led you into the back seat, his long coat draped over your bare shoulders.

On the way back to Birmingham, Michael never stopped touching you. Either his hand held yours, or his arm was wrapped around your waist or shoulders. One of his knees always pressed against one of yours, and when you dropped your head onto his shoulder, his head leaned atop yours.

When exhaustion began to nip at your fluttering eyelids and softened your mind, you lifted your head to look at Michael. He stared back, blue eyes wandering adoringly over your face. “What’s wrong, love?”

You bit your tongue, wanting to restrain the gentle pulsing in your chest in some way, but you couldn’t help it. You can’t stop how it slowly overtakes your senses, especially when Michael raises a hand to cradle your cheek, thumb caressing your bottom lip.

“I love you.”

His hand begins to tremble against your skin, and his lips twitch into a smile as pure reverence floods his vision. “I love you too,” he breathes.

And when he rushes forward to press his lips to yours, you wrap your arms around him openly, hold him lovingly. He accepts everything you give him, every whine, moan, and whimper, and in return he worships your body with his hands, petting and stroking and clutching onto you with every fiber of his being.

“I won’t let you go again,” he murmurs against your lips, and his arms tighten around you. “I can’t lose you anymore.”

“It’s okay,” you cup his face, pulling him impossibly closer. “You found me.”

A/N: Holy shit, y’all, I am so sorry for the inactivity, but here’s one mega-long ass chapter to make up for it. Life has been hectic lately, so I hope you’ll forgive my slacking. I seriously hope you guys enjoy this one, though!

        “YN GUESS WHAT!”

        Bokuto was… nice. Most days, he was a little too energetic for your taste, but you were slowly growing used to his wild actions. Everything he did, he did with a smile, and you liked that about him. Except he had a habit of barging in on you at the most unsavory times and proceeding to act willfully ignorant to his mistake. Exhibit A: you were in the shower.

        “GET THE HELL OUT BOKUTO!”

        “But YN-”

        “GET OUT!”

                                ~~~
        Lately, your feelings for the boys have grown. Although you still had your doubts, you still accepted any offer of affection they had. Akaashi was more of the discrete type, with his nightly cuddles and his small smiles. He even introduced you to the rose garden outside your balcony, and helped you in watering them any chance he could.
        Bokuto, on the other hand, was much more erratic. Instead of peaceful midnight snuggles, the vampire chose to mount you in your sleep and shout in your ear until you woke up. He was like a petulant child who needed constant attention, but after months of being trapped in the mansion with only him and his wizard companion, you gave into every whine and beg he shrieked. If he wanted to watch the sun rise, you dragged your butt out of bed and sat on the roof of the house with him. If he wanted to bake a five-layer cake at the asscrack of dawn, you stood alongside him in the kitchen and only helped when he would accidentally splatter ingredients on the walls. Every time Bokuto did anything around the house and wanted you there, you would be, but only because he was whiny. Oh, and also you’ve been bored out of your mind.
        Today seemed to be your lucky day, though.
        “F-U-N! FUNLAND!” the vampire sang ear-splittingly, pumping his hands in and out against his chest with every beat.
        “F-U-N LAND! FUNLAND!” you chanted with him, mocking his moves and wiggling your hips excitedly. Akaashi had the expression no different than that of a worn-out parent as he stood between the two of you, occasionally getting hip-checked and booty-bumped.
        Where were you, you ask? Oh, only the happiest place on Earth!... Or is that copyrighted? Whatever, who cares?!
        After however many months of being trapped in that joy-sucking mansion, Bokuto and Akaashi finally let you outside, and it was to go to the local amusement park. There had been many ads on TV displaying just how magical the park was, but you never got to see it with your very own eyes until right now. Also, their theme song was catchy.
        “FUN… LAND!” you and Bokuto finished on a high note, smacking your hands together in a high ten with smiles on par with the sun. People in the line behind you groaned at your fiftieth cover of the tune, bitterly groaning and grumbling in the day’s humidity.
        While you and your singalong companion bounced on the tips of your toes at the front of the hoard, Akaashi handed the workers your tickets before leading the way into…
        “FUNLAND!” You two screeched once more, snapping your mouths shut after Akaashi served you the dirtiest look.
        People were right to complain. The heat from the sun was palpable enough to dampen your skin in seconds. Sunburns were expected, and a little looked forward to, but the wizard, ever the careful parent, doused both you and the vampire in gallons of sunscreen.
        “Shouldn’t you die under the sun?” you had asked Bokuto this morning.
        “No, Akaashi cast a spell on me years ago. No setting on fire for this vampire!” he had replied, snatching his friend up in a hug.
        All around the park, people ambled about like ants, chattering with each other and touring the park. Screams were audible from the many roller coasters and other fun rides around you, though it was difficult to tell if it was from fear or joy. A small breeze blew past every few seconds, just barely ruffling the bottom of your flowing, blue sundress and cooling your bare legs. You sniffed the air greedily, enjoying the scent of sugary, fried delicacies and coconut sunblock.
        Most others, much like your two companions, wore shorts and t-shirts, smiling under sunglasses and making their way to the many attractions offered. Akaashi glanced around at them before making his way to a thick post holding maps and other advertisements for the park. You and Bokuto trailed behind him, barely containing your excitement as your eyes greedily ate up the scene before you both.
        “All right, you two,” Akaashi spoke up, scrutinizing the map from behind his shaded lenses, “where do you wanna go first?”
        “Bumper cars!” you piped up first, laughing victoriously at Bokuto’s disappointed huff.
        “Are you sure?” the wizard asked.
        “No!” Bokuto whined. “We should do-”
        “Bumper cars it is!” You grab both their hands swiftly and drag them through the crowds, pushing past the occasional crying baby and scuffing your sandals against the paved ground.
        When you spotted your game of choice, you cheered in delight.
        “Whoo!” You made your way up to the short line, hauling them both in behind you. Fake horns honked and tiny tires squealed against the floor as you shifted on your feet. Seconds later, the round in front of you finished and you bounced on your feet, quickly pulling both men forward behind you.
        “Sorry, looks like one of you will have to wait till next round.” The teenaged operator forced on a sympathetic smile and fiddled with his cotton, park-themed t-shirt while you groaned in despair.
        “Oh c’mon,” you turned around to face the boys with a pout and Bokuto shared your look. Akaashi, on the other hand, shrugged and stepped under the tied rope representing the line area.
        “You two go ahead, I’ll watch from over here,” he gestured to the metal gates surrounding the court and folded his arms against it, leaning leisurely while nodding at the two of you to go ahead. With a swift turn to your vampiric friend, you narrowed your eyes and slowly stepped backwards onto the battlefield.
        “It’s on,” you smirked, rolling your shoulders and cracking your knuckles.
        “Oh, it is so on!” Bokuto yelped, and with that you both sprinted to your cars, him taking a yellow one and you taking a green.
        “Thank you for deciding to play Funland’s Wonderful Bumper Cars today,” the operator droned monotonously. “Please keep your hands and feet inside your cars at all times. Please don’t exceed the marked speed on the vehicles. Please don’t-”
        “Game on, you owl-haired freak!”
        “You’re goin’ down, darling!”
        And with that, the game began. You screamed out a “charge” and pressed your gas all the way down to the floor, making a beeline for Bokuto. He does the same, scrunching up his face and yelling aloud as well while speeding up towards you.
        Crash!
        You and Bokuto collide and rebound off each other, both whipping back and forth in your seats from the force. The contact causes you to ram into the other cars, and the children around you scream in terror at your viciousness behind the wheel.
        You circle your enemy rapidly, making yourself dizzy as you spin your wheel around the court.
        “Come at me, wuss!” you taunt, sticking out your tongue at the vampire. He takes the bait and floors it, taking an angle to intercept you at the perfect point in your circle. You react just in time pressing on the brakes fast enough to stop just before he hits you and cackling mischievously as Bokuto slams harshly into the wall, flying forward and ramming his gut into his wheel.
        “This isn’t over, YN!” he groans, holding his stomach while you slowly push your car into him, cursed with the hindrance of not being able to reverse.
        “Yeah, yeah.” You ruffle your hand in his hair as your car squeals against his, slowly leaving friction marks against the side of his own vehicle. You whip your wheel around in an instant, targeting other children while Bokuto is trapped against the wall. While you savagely bump against the others in the court, you occasionally catch a glimpse of Akaashi, who watches you with bright, humorous eyes behind the fence.
        You give him a small wave before releasing another ferocious war cry, directing your car towards Bokuto and bashing into him once again just after he freed himself.
        “Why?!” he screeches, bouncing off the wall and jolting in his chair.
        “You can never beat me!” you grin, revving up your imaginary engine and spinning to face him again. You prepare to give one final blow, pushing past terrorized children who hurriedly drive out of your way before taking aim.
        “It was nice knowing you, Bokuto!”
        “YN, don’t do this!” he pleads. Akaashi stands just behind him and quirks his lips at the sight.
        “I’LL SEE YOU IN HELL!” You press your gas all the way down to the floor and tense your body for the crash, but the cheap plastic only bumbles along the court, leaving you hunched over your steering wheel and pursing your lips in confusion. You slowly bump into Bokuto with a thump before casually rolling to a stop just a few inches away.
        “You two!” The operator points an accusing finger at you and your opponent. “Get out right now! You’re scaring the other riders!”
        The “other riders” are a fearsome age of six through nine, and every one of them gives you a pouty glare as you exit your bumper cars.
        “Sorry,” you and Bokuto mumble to the worker, stepping out of the gate that he slams to a close behind you.
        While you walk side-by-side away from the warzone, Akaashi walks over to greet you with a hand over his mouth, clearly disguising a smug grin.
        “Nice job, you two. You managed to get kicked out of a ride in the first twenty minutes.”
        “Whatever, let’s just go play mini golf now.” Bokuto trudges over to the highlighted sign, you follow closely behind and Akaashi becomes the smug caboose to your pain train.
        “I’m definitely gonna kick your ass this time,” you mutter under your breath, just loud enough for the vampire to hear.
        “Oh yeah?” You can hear the smile return to his voice. “It’s on, darling.” In a mad dash, you both leave Akaashi in the dust once again while racing towards the air conditioned building.
                                ~~~

        After ten holes and ten simultaneous losses, Bokuto barely has enough dignity to pout. While his hair lights the way for you all in the black-lighted room, you victory dance your way to the final course.

        Akaashi goes first, and like all the rounds before, he gets a hole in one. He’s been claiming it’s skill, but you know for sure he’s been using some good-old wizardy to kick both your asses. Maybe he was still a little salty about not being able to play bumper cars.

        Bokuto goes next, and whimpers when his neon pink ball bounces off the windmill, getting knocked off into the flowing moat never to be seen again.

        You finish last, winding up barely enough to tap the ball through, taking a deep breath and waiting for the perfect moment. Suddenly, a presence creeps up behind you.

        “My love, you’re aiming way too hard,” Akaashi whispers, pressing his solid chest to your back. His arms wind around your rigid form and his hands encompass yours on the measly golf club, carefully guiding you back and then forward again, tapping the ball just perfectly enough that you, much like him, get a hole in one.

        “It’s just mini golf,” Bokuto grumbles from the other side of the course.

        “Keep telling yourself that.” Akaashi pulls away and you finally suck in some much-needed oxygen, standing up straight and gripping the club tightly.

        “AKAASHI!” They both argue back and forth while leaving you behind with a muddled mind. Your skin skill tingles from his touch, but you swiftly catch up to them before your thoughts run rampant.

        The humidity is the first difference you notice when you exit the small building. The sharp contrast between the previous dark room and the burning sun pains your irises, and Akaashi lowers his sunglasses while pulling out his map.

        “Okay, you two. What’s next?” he asks, raising his voice over the loud babbling of those around your tiny group.

        “Roller coaster!” Bokuto lifts his hand up over his eyes and gawks at the elaborate ride before him. It’s called Big Bertha, and you don’t even want to think about getting on it. It lives up to its name, with about eight loopty-loops and even more tracks that spin you upside down, then rightside up in stomach churning-intervals. The typical screams and squeals you hear make you gulp and flare your nostrils. Even its height is making you dizzy.

        “Sounds good, let’s do it.” Before you even have a chance to veto their idea, they’re already dragging you to the line, one of their hands on each of your wrists. Your voice is caught in your drying throat while you stare down the four-seated death sentence.

        In what felt like seconds but was actually twenty minutes, you’re shoved down into the front row seat, Bokuto sitting on your right while Akaashi settles in on your left. One last seat is left open, but with a fierce growl from the vampire, the final rider on your twelve-row horror show decides to wait for the next round.

        Your whole body is shaking while you repeatedly swallow down your fear, clenching and unclenching your fists repeatedly while observing the track before you. It’s a forty-foot climb, leading to a soul-departing drop that you know, you just know you won’t survive. Akaashi pulls down the foamy bar over your shoulders as per request of the ride operator, giving you a curious look at your awkward appearance.

        “Are you okay?” He places his hand on yours in attempted comfort, but you’re too far gone to feel it.

        “Mhm,” you squeak back, keeping your eyes locked on the bar in front of you while gripping your restraint with white-knuckles. Akaashi gives you one more uncertain look before nodding and facing forward, placing a reassuring hand on your bare thigh. As if reading the room, Bokuto does the same and squeezes the flesh with excitement.

        “YN, this is gonna be so fun! Why do you look constipated?” His normal, overjoyed grin almost blinds you into submission, and you whimper when the whole car jolts forward with a squeal before chugging up the track.

        Your breath escapes you as gravity pulls you against your seat, forcing you to look up at the clear blue skies of the wonderful day of your end. Oh God, I’m gonna die here!

        Slowly, ever so slowly, you inch up the track, climbing higher and higher into the air as your brain begins to ache with pure fear. Your whole body is trembling uncontrollably, and Akaashi gives you another curious glance just as you reach the top.

        “All right, YN, tell us what’s wrong. Are you okay? Are you feeling sick?” How is he so calm right now?!

        You try to focus on your breathing, in and out, in and out, but nothing distracts you from the drop. Farther and farther, the tracks lean you to face straight down, and the people from here all look like squirming ants. The trees look like green toothpicks, and you? Well, you’re just plain green.

        “Hey guys?” you whisper hesitantly, heart rate speeding up at the imminent drop.

        “Yeah?”

        Nothing.

        Nothing.

        And then…

        “I have a fear of heights.”

        You drop.

        Every mistake you’ve ever made haunts you as you scream for dear life, slapping your hands down onto the ones on your thighs and digging your fingernails into their arms. Air whips past you as you’re pulled back and forth, up and down. The world flies past you at unstoppable speeds and you can’t even think straight.

        Your heart is beating so fast as the ride slows, only to climb another hill before dropping you suddenly once again. You clench your eyes closed in fear this time and grab Bokuto and Akaashi’s hands in your own, feeling their bones and tendons and just how much you’re crushing them at the moment. The only audible sounds around you aside from the wind whipping past your face and pulling your hair is both men’s laughs. You carefully open your eyelids and glance to your sides.

        Bokuto. He’s smiling and laughing and cheering and throwing his arm in the air and it’s beautiful.

        Akaashi. He’s doing the exact same, and never before have you seen him so happy and carefree than in this moment.

        They were gorgeous, and joyful, and so euphoric in this moment that you never wanted it to end.

        These men… are they really my soulmates?

        You so wanted them to be, if they could look this happy all the time. If you could make them look like that all the time. And you so wanted to do that.

        Suddenly, that roller coaster didn’t seem all that bad, and as it came to one final drop, you closed your eyes and giggled with glee, embracing the fall and the heart tremors it gave you.

        Then it slowly rolled to a stop, and the only noises around you were the excited chitters of the riders behind you. Smile still plastered on your face, you breathlessly open your gaze and listen to the pressurized air releasing as your restraints push up and over your head.

        Your chest is thumping and your ears are pounding as you pat your cheeks to get the feeling back in them. Then you glance at your partners.

        Both supernatural men seem stumped at the sight. Their mouths are wide open and gawked at you. You freeze up under their gaze, but push their foam bars up and over their heads nonetheless.

        “Uhh, guys? I think we have to get off now.” You stand and gesture for them to do the same. They do, and trail behind you with delirious gazes as you lead them out and away from the ride. Now that you realize it, women have been gawking at the men following behind you all day. You pass girls your age, younger, and older, and every single one stops and stares, giving yearning looks to your soulmates.

        You glare back as you lead them both to the lunch area, obeying the growls in your stomach while you seat them at a bench-table across from you.

        What a bunch of-

        “My love,” Akaashi licks his lips and earnestly shakes his head at you. “You are beautiful.”

        Your eyes widen at the words and you go rigid in your cedar placement. Where the hell did that come from?

        Bokuto is still gaping like a fish, but abruptly snatches your hand on the wooden presses his forehead against the back of it while groaning. “God, darling, how are you so perfect?”

        “Umm, guys?” You shift in your seat, anxious under their serious gazes.

        Akaashi’s eyes darken at the familiar words and a muscle in his jaw twitches. “Speaking of, why didn’t you tell us you were afraid? Even though-” he pauses and wordlessy shrugs towards the roller coaster, “-that just happened,” he shakes his head, “we still wouldn’t have gone if we knew.”

        You raise a brow. “Mind telling me what just happened?”

        “You looked like an angel, darling,” Bokuto presses a kiss to your fingers before letting you go. “So fucking perfect. And all ours.” He smiles at you, a loving, adoring smile that gives you whiplash when compared to his possessive words. “Now, how ‘bout some lunch? I really want one of those big Pixie Stix!” Oh wow, that’s a mind fuck.

        “You’re gonna get sick if you eat that,” Akaashi scolds, rising up out of his chair and walking towards the food stands. Bokuto does the same and pouts at his companion.

        “Oh, come on Akaashi! I promise I’ll be fine. Just let me get one, please?”

        What kind of mind games are these two playing?!

        While they both make their ways to the concession stands, women of all ages watch the men with lovey-dovey eyes. They giggle and point, and some closer to your range push each other forward with encouraging whispers to shoot their shot.

        “Darling, are you coming?” Bokuto’s call draws you out of your jealous thoughts, and you nod along dazedly. In a split second, you walk over to join them, puffing up your chest and keeping your gaze forward to ignore every nasty glare the thirsty females serve you. That’s right, bitches, they’re mine-

        “My love,” Akaashi interrupts with a pointed look, “could you please tell Bokuto that if he only eats the tube of sugar, he’s going to make himself sick?” He jabs a thumb at the vampire accusingly before gesturing to the menu. “Just pick something else.”

        “How about an elephant ear-”

        “No.”

        You breathe out a laugh and drop your hands on your hips. “Akaashi’s right, you know,” you nod to the wizard, but Bokuto only nods while staring at something over your head.

        “Mhm sure.”

        “Come on, you are going to-” You get cut off abruptly by him simply humming and walking away while licking his lips. The act almost hurts you, like you had just been completely ignored by your significant other. Like.

        “Don’t take it to heart, my love,” Akaashi grasps your hand and squeezes reassuringly, and you know he had seen the pain on your face. “He’s not one to so easily dismiss you. I know he’s bringing you something too. It’s the only explanation.”

        You only nod and purse your lips, taking a small comfort in the fact that his fingers rest perfectly against your own. He smiles softly at the feeling of your thumb brushing over his knuckles, and presses a quick kiss to your cheek before pulling you to the open counter.

        “What would you like, my love?” he whispers into your ear, chuckling quietly when your body goes rigid against his own.

        “U-umm, you order first,” you shrug nonchalantly to brush over the quietness of your voice. “I don’t know yet.” Eyes glinting, he nods and turns to the woman behind the counter.

        “I will have a…” his order fades away as you narrow your eyes at the girl’s actions. There’s something… arrogant about her. Her eyelashes flutter like she’s trying to flick dust out of her eyes, and her lips pucker like she’s about to hop over the counter and jump your- erm, Akaashi.

        “Mhm,” she hums seductively, biting her lips, “anything else for you, babe?”

        Your nostrils flare at her attempts to woo him. You know your kidnapper would never go for this woman, but a part of you still wants to wring her neck like a wet towel.

        “Yeah, just a bottle of water.”

        “I’ll go get a cold one for you,” she winks, “I know it’s pretty hot out here.” Running a sensual hand through her hair, she sighs dramatically before making her way deeper into the food stand, bending low to give your wizard a nice show at the only thing she has to offer while she grabs his water bottle. You grit your teeth at the sight and muster the most enraged glare anyone’s ever seen.

        “Are you all right, my love?” The pet name reassures you, but the arrogant tone of Akaashi’s voice drives you up the walls.

        “Of course,” you hiss, eyes still locked on the… nice woman behind the counter. “Why do you ask?”

        “Because if you grip my hand any harder, I fear I might just lose all feeling in it for a while,” he simpers, holding your white-knuckled hand up to your tunnel vision.

        “Oh, sorry” you seethe, attempting to yank your hand away only to have Akaashi hold it in place. He still intertwines his long fingers with your limp ones, but you don’t have enough pride to reciprocate.

        “My love,” he coos teasingly, “are you jealous?”

        “Fuck no!” You scrunch up your nose and bang your free hand on the counter just as the woman returns with Akaashi’s order.

        “Do you want the same thing as me?” he asks, grabbing his hotdog and water in his free grip. The thought for some reason makes your stomach churn, and in your bitterness, you decide to play it petty.

        Turning towards the woman, you ignore Akaashi’s question and spit, “I want an elephant ear.”

        “YN-”

        “And a chocolate shake. And that’ll be all, babe,” you sneer at her. The woman raises her perfectly plucked brows, unimpressed, but you don’t have the time to care what she thinks.

        Akaashi sighs from beside you, and a minute later you return to your table with all the sugary goodness you could think of in the heat of the moment. Bokuto is already seated, and when he smiles at your lunch, the entire inside of his mouth is tainted blue.

        “Woah, YN, that looks great!” The hungry vampire sidles up beside you, taking up the only room for another person on your side of the table as you plop down with a humph.

        “You want some?” you offer with a smirk, tearing off a piece and chomping on it with an emphasized moan. “It’s delicious.”

        “Definitely,” Bokuto nods and takes a bite of the chunk in your hand, his lips brushing your fingers before he pulls away. “Wow, that’s good! Akaashi, you sure you don’t want some?”

        The wizard only shakes his head and takes a bitter bite out of his hotdog. Bokuto furrows his brows at the tense atmosphere of the table, then snaps his fingers and gasps excitedly.

        “Darling, I almost forgot,” he snags something out from under the table and hands it to you, “I got you something!”

        It’s a cherry-flavored Pixie Stix tube. Sixteen inches of pure sugar and diabetes fuel, but it was your favorite flavor, so who were you to deny?

        “Aww, thanks Bokuto!” You peck his cheek in thanks and try not to blush at the abnormal action. You were still growing used to showing them affection as well.

        “You’re welcome! I had blue raspberry, so now we can make purple!”

        Akaashi choked on his hotdog.

                                ~~~
        The day was only half-over, and after lunch, Bokuto had an ingenious idea of going to the Tilt-a-Whirl teacups. Yep. Genius.
        Your stomach tremmered and gurgled with every movement, and you could almost feel all the sugar you had consumed fighting back. Still, it gave you quite a rush, and you had a bounce in your step as you made your way to the next ride. If only you knew it was going to be the worst decision yet.
        “You’re gonna throw up,” Akaashi murmured from your side, waiting patiently alongside a contrasting Bokuto who vibrated with excitement.
        “No I’m not.” You discretely fold your hands over your stomach, trying to soothe the growing ache.
        “I told you not to eat so much sugar.”
        “I’m not gonna throw up!”
        “Our turn!” Bokuto cheered, pushing past the person counter and scrambling into the first teacup. You and the smug wizard both clamber in after him, settling into the plastic benches hidden inside the ride.
        The signature music begins playing and Bokuto wastes no time, instantly dropping his hands down onto the wheel in the center and twirling it as fast as he can.
        “WHOOO!”
        The trees and other attractions of the park begin to blur, and at first you enjoy it. Wind whips past your face as your hair flutters behind you. The force of every twist and turn tugs you back and forth in the most curiously exciting way, and you begin to uncontrollably giggle at the feeling of pure joy beaming in your chest. Even Akaashi finds it in himself to smile as the vampire beside him whips the wheel faster, cranking it to the left and right with his enhanced strength.
        While the black and white haired man hoots and hollers with delight, you grip the wooden bench below you tightly, trying not to go flying straight out of the teacup. The muscles in your cheeks ache from the constant grin, and everything feels just so right.
        “YEAH, WOO-HOO!”
        Then it goes horribly wrong.
        Your stomach begins to churn and burn at the constant twisting, and a wave of nausea hits you, desperately trying to climb up your throat. Ever so elated, neither man notices how your face abruptly falls, and you puff up your cheeks in effort to hold back a gag.
        Oh no. There’s the elephant ear.
        The bottom of your throat stings at the feeling of your stomach acid relocating, and you almost cry tears of joy when the ride stops lurching violently with a loud beep. Your head spins while your vision grows unfocused. The only thing you comprehend is the fact that the door to your teacup has just opened, and you can finally make your escape. In a reckless sprint, you scurry out of the enlarged drinkware and launch yourself off the ride’s platform.
        “YN?!” Both men call after you, but you don’t have time to spare. Frantically searching the area, your eyes dart back and forth for the nearest trash can to empty your stomach contents.
        At last, you spot and dart towards it with one wizard hot on your tail. He pulls your hair away from your face just in the nick of time as you toss cookies into Funland’s Funtastic Waste Disposal.
        “Oh, YN,” Akaashi hums, rubbing your back comfortingly, “I told you this would happen.”
        “Shut u-” you break off to cack into the bin once more, closing your eyes and groaning bitterly at the ringing in your ears. The black-haired man massages his palm up and down your spine while a depressed vampire paces behind you.
        “YN, I am so sorry! I am so, so, so sorry!” he cries out in despair, hands hanging limply by his side as if he doesn’t know what to do with himself.
        “No, Bokuto, I swear it’s not your fault-” you can’t hold back another gag, or finish a sentence to save your life. One last wave of nausea climbs up your throat and you lose the final bits of your lunch for the day. The anxious man whimpers at the sound as Akaashi grimaces, taking one for the team and handing you the last of his water while you wheeze against the can.
        With a heavy sigh, you gargle some of it in the back of your sore throat before spitting it out, wiping your mouth with a napkin also provided by the wizard. After taking a few minutes to catch your breath, you peel away and let out a deep sigh, rubbing your eyes with the back of your hands.
        “Hey guys?”
        “Yeah?” they chime.
        “Let’s skip out on rides for the rest of the day, okay?”
        “Of course.”
                                ~~~

        Two teddy bears, three pink flamingos, eight multi-colored dogs, five Pikachus and one big llama. Those along with about fifteen other stuffed animals you couldn’t identify were all stock-piled into your hands as a gesture of repentance.

        After you greeted your guts in the nearest trash can, Bokuto had compiled enough guilt to frighten the Titanic. Akaashi had nothing better to do than play the amusement park games as well, and this only increased his companion’s competitiveness.

        Bokuto excelled at the games of strength and skill. Basketball shooting, darts and balloons, bottle rings, he even broke the mallet at the “Ring the Bell” game. And the bell. But you did get a big, fluffy unicorn out of it, so no harm, no foul.

        Akaashi, unsurprisingly, had much more success in games of chance. Every time, he knocked down all the bottles, chose the rubber duck with the highest number, hit every moving target with his water gun, and won you a goldfish with a ping pong ball. You didn’t exactly have the capability of handling a fish at home though, so you had to give little “Hinata” back. Shame.

        “My love, I just won you a blue penguin.”

        “Awe, thanks Akaashi!” You awkwardly squatted to allow him to add it to the top of your collection, and slowly raised back up, keeping a close eye on the precariously-balanced bird.

        “You totally stole that win from me!” Bokuto accused, tossing a smaller penguin on top of your pile.

        “It’s called being skilled, Bokuto. No cheating necessary from me.”

        Bullshit.

        “Hey guys?” you panted, carefully following after them while watching your toys like a hawk. They didn’t pay you any mind, instead choosing to continue their petty argument.

        “Guys?” Nothing.

        “Hey! Guys!” Nada.

        “HEY DIPSTICKS!” Everyone within a thirty-foot radius averted their gazes to you at your shout, and you drop your rainbow-themed assortment of creatures on the ground with a huff, ignoring their eyes. You were used to being watched constantly anyway.

        “Yes, darling?” Bokuto smiled proudly, observing his and Akaashi’s impressive gathering like a devoted hunter. You wipe the sweat off your brow and gesture to the toys.

        “I really don’t need all these. What if some children want them?”

        “Our children can have them.”

        “What?”

        “What?” they both pipe up. Not even a second later, they gather up the stuffed animals in their hands and stack them back up in your arms, completely ignoring the conversation that had just happened. A conversation you sincerely wanted to expand upon.

        “They’re for you, YN,” Akaashi declares, setting a flamingo on your shoulder.

        “We only want you to have them, no one else,” Bokuto adds, innocently placing a monkey under your chin. “We want people to know that we won them for you.”

        Their expressions seemed pure and innocuous, but the prideful twinkles in their eyes revealed the opposite. Like wolves marking their territory, they loaded you with gifts and surrounded you protectively, hiding your form while simultaneously showing that you were taken.

        Was that true? Were you actually stuck with these two men for life? On the surface, the thought made you cringe. You never liked the idea of other people seeing you as property to be owned. Deep down, however, you knew you were more than that to these guys. Your heart fluttered every second you were around them, and your stomach filled with butterflies every time their skin brushed your own. No, you didn’t want to be claimed like a stray cat.

        But maybe…

        “Hehe, Akaashi look,” Bokuto chuckled and pointed out a neon sign overhanging a large, white building, “there’s a magician at the park.”

        “Ugh, how humans always think they can perform magic disgusts me.” The wizard sneers at the sight and attempts to walk past without another glance, but you lag behind, enraptured at the thought.

        Real magic and fake magic. Huh. Wonder how he would actually react?

        After ten minutes of begging from you, and thirteen minutes of begging from you and Bokuto, Akaashi snapped like a twig and folded.

        “Fine!” he hissed under his breath, not so subtly stomping towards the miniature arena. “We’ll go, but we’re not staying the entire time!”

        “Hell yeah!” you and Bokuto cheered. The vampire went in for a fist bump, which you awkwardly pressed your forehead against because, you know, your hands were kind of full.

        While the sky had grown darker and darker as your two companions were stuffed-animal hunting, it wasn’t as dark as the inside of the magician’s building. With a warning from Bokuto, all three of you settled into the back row of the show, closest to the exit and farthest from the younger viewers whose ears could be tainted with Akaashi’s irritation.

        It was a smart choice, because as soon as the stage lit up and the magician appeared in a cloud of smoke, the wizard immediately had something to say.

        “They just had a secret hatch on the stage, you know,” he grumbled under his breath.

        “There’s two people in that box.”

        “He hid the card up his sleeve.”

        “There’s actors in the audience.”

        Five minutes in, and it was like you were listening to the podcast remake of Breaking the Magician’s Code.

        “Oh, come on, Akaashi!” you groaned quietly, lowering your voice when the people in front of you delivered viscous glares. “How is that woman floating other than by pure magic?!”

        The wizard smirks. “There’s a machine behind the magician.”

        “But the hula hoop-”

        “Works around the machine.”

        You pause for a second, scrutinizing the fakers on stage and gnawing on your lip, debating the odds.

        “Goddamnit, Akaashi.” With a final scoff, you stand up from your seat and collect all your stuffed animals in your arms, submitting as Akaashi snickers. He rises as well and proceeds to help you gather your things while Bokuto stays seated with golden eyes still locked on the stage.

        “Where are you two going?” he whisper-yells, not glancing away once while gasping in amazement at the show. The vampire claps erratically when the “floating girl” lowers to the floor and bows to the audience.

        “C’mon, dude, it’s all a sham.” You huff and hug your stuffies closer, glaring at the wizard who ruined your fun. “Let’s get out of here.”

        “How can that be a sham, YN?!” He points at the stage with all seriousness and childlike wonder. “It can only be magic!”

        “It can only be a machine.” You roll your eyes and nod your head to the exit. “Now let’s go. Mr. Grumpy Pants here decided to reveal all the secrets.”

        Bokuto blows a stray strand of hair away from his face with a pout before dragging himself out of his folded chair, following you and Akaashi out the door like a sad puppy.

        Outside, the sky is now a navy blue as the sun sets in the west. Parents and children are still roaming the park, but their voices have lowered as the streetlamps light their faces. The scent of ash and heat still hangs in the air, and you don’t hesitate to ask why.

        “There’s a firework show tonight,” Akaashi answers, checking out a glowing souvenir shop. “We’re gonna stay and watch it.”

        “Umm, all right, but nature calls, so lemme go to the bathroom real quick.”

        “Okay, we’ll find you later!”

        You pass off your collection of toys to Bokuto, who hugs them to his chest and takes a large whiff of their scent. You choose to ignore how his eyes glow red for a split second, and walk off with a wave over your shoulder to find a restroom.

                                ~~~
        “Gross, gross, gross, gross, gross,” you sing, shaking your hands frantically to air-dry while backing your way out of the women’s room. The door slams shut behind you as you squint in the night, searching for either of your kidnappers through the darkened park.
        “Darling!” A bulky, white blur of a figure calls out to you in a familiar deep tone, and you jog over to Bokuto as he waves his arms. Barely avoiding tripping in your sandals, you slow to a stop in front of him, inhaling quickly at the small setup he and Akaashi must have created.
        It’s a blanket with Funland’s logo laying on the forest floor in a secluded area of the park. The only life around you is the trees whishing in the warm wind, and the moon provides the only light, save for a small, floating candle Akaashi levitates from his seat on the green and purple fabric. Stuffed animals of all shapes and sizes surround the rectangle like a barrier, and the wizard pats the space beside him while Bokuto settles in on the other end of the blanket.
        A soft smile creeps onto your face, and you wordlessly plop down between them, snatching a few pieces of popcorn from the bucket your vampire holds. The buttery goodness bursts with flavor in your mouth and makes you hum in delight.
        Crickets chirp and owls hoot from within the woods that border the amusement park, the woods you currently relax in. Both men have content expressions on their faces, but Akaashi stretches out his legs in front of him, folding one over the other. Bokuto, same as you, is sitting crisscross with the treat in his lap, occasionally snagging a fistful and chewing without a care.
        The atmosphere is peaceful and calm, almost romantic as the wizard leans back on one hand, using the other to slowly lower the candle to the ground before he turns to face you.
        “My love.” His tone is smokey and guttural, enticing a flicker of heat in the pit of your stomach while his gunmetal blue eyes pierce through your heart. “Would you like to see some real magic?”
        A scoff almost chokes out of you, but in effort to preserve the tender mood, you disguise it with a bite of your lower lip. “I would love to, Akaashi.”
        At the sound of his name falling from your lips, his pupils flare and a corner of his mouth quirks up. He nods to the fluffy barrier and waves his hand over their presence, allowing a maroon mist to wash over them.
        Nothing happens for a second or two. Then, one by one, they twitch to life. Rainbow unicorns stomp their hooves against the floor. Rosy flamingos stretch out their limbs and flap their wings. Dogs shake out their pelts. Cats lean back deeply on their haunches and wiggle their tails. Pikachus crackle with artificial snaps of electricity. And finally, as the last of them grow accustomed to their newfound abilities to move, they begin to parade around the blanket like a miniature marching band, circling all three of your forms in perfect harmony with one another.
        You can’t speak, you can only watch with childlike wonder as they play with each other. Kittens pounce on puppies, penguins hop over turtles, and every other creature putters along with silent steps on the forest floor. Your face softens in amazement, and you exhale lightly at the sight.
        “Wow, Akaashi.” Your voice is breathless, and your vision goes blurry thanks to your overgrown smile. “This is amazing!” You don’t dare grow any louder than a whisper, fearing that you might scare them away. It doesn’t really occur to you that they are all enchanted, and wouldn’t flee anyway.
        “Better than the magic show?” he smirks. Air hitches in your throat, and you can’t help but lean closer to his face. His gaze is hypnotizing enough, no spell required to draw you in, and you don’t even stir when a different hand, a rougher, larger hand from the other side of the blanket lands on your bare thigh. Your warm breaths brush past his lips, leading to him drawing in the lower between his teeth, sucking on the plump flesh alluringly.
        “Much better,” you nod, eyes locked on his entrancing actions. The hand on your thigh squeezes harder as a form leers closer to your back, hot puffs hitting your neck.
        Close. They’re both so close. And somewhere deep down you want them even closer. You want to feel them.
        Akaashi’s lips brush yours, and Bokuto’s run across your neck, and then-
        BOOM!
        Fireworks crackle in the sky and you jump away from them both, pressing a hand against your chest to calm your racing heart.
        “Holy shit!” you shout, then begin to laugh at the perfect timing of the fireworks show. Just wonderful.
        Red, green, and blue spades of fire crash and collide in the air. Cheers and whistles echo in the distance, and you can’t help but think what the fuck just happened?
        “Hehe, wow,” Bokuto chuckles nervously, rubbing the back of his neck, “guess the show started a little late.”
        “Yeah,” Akaashi responds gruffly, a vein popping in frustration on his forehead. Both men sound just as out of breath as you, but you don’t dare remove your eyes from the sky. Maybe you were afraid something would actually happen if you did….
        Or maybe you were afraid it wouldn’t.
        “Darling!” The pet name almost floors you. “Catch!”
        You hesitantly glance at Bokuto in confusion, chest pumping, and your heart skips a beat when you catch sight of his flushed cheeks.
        Then you get hit in the forehead with a kernel.
        “Aww,” he pouts. “Open your mouth this time, darling!”
        You do, and his Adam’s apple bobs before he tosses a piece, landing it perfectly on your tongue. Pressing your lips together, you chew on it with a relaxed smile, pleased at how easily Bokuto could thin out a tense atmosphere.
        “Mm, my turn, my turn!” you cheer, grabbing a handful of ammo and aiming at Bokuto’s wide grin.
        “Hell yeah!” you cheer when you hit beginner’s luck, giggling when Bokuto gestures for more instead of eating the one.
        You toss more and more, Bokuto does the same, and, at some point, Akaashi winds his arm around your waist calmly. The night grows darker, the moon rises higher in the sky, and soon, your eyes can barely stay open.
        You yawn and recline back on the blanket, laughing breathlessly when a stuffed puppy boops your forehead.
        “Let’s go home, my love,” Akaashi softly smiles down at you, brushing a strand of hair from your face. The touch leaves a trail of sparks, much like the last fireworks dying in the sky.
        “I’m too tired to get up, though.” With fluttering eyelids, you struggle to stay conscious as you reach your arms up lazily. “Carry me home.”
        The wizard’s gaze darkens, still glued to your peaceful face while his jaw twitches at the sight. Then he glances up at Bokuto, who nods frantically just before your vision goes dark.
        The last thing you feel is someone lugging you up on their muscular back, locking your ankles at their stomach and winding your arms around their shoulders while you doze off against their nape.
                                ~~~

        Rain splatters against your balcony, and you sit up on your bed with an easy smile on your face. With a quick, euphoric stretch, you pat the cold mattress around you, searching for your nightly visitors only to come up empty.

        “Bokuto? Akaashi?”

        No response. The rest of the room is dead silent aside from the weather outside. Yawning, you throw off your covers and purse your lips at the nightgown you wear. Yes, you were falling for them. There, you admitted it. But that didn’t mean you liked how they would undress you while delirious.

        Soft feet pattering against the hardwood floor, you stifle a snort at the sight of the stuffed animals thrown haphazardly around your room. Opening the door, you call out into the hallway, “Oh, come on, guys. You could’ve at least been gentle with the penguin.”

        Your voice echoes, but it still remains the only sound in the house.

        Hours pass, and you still can’t find them. You’ve searched every hallway, every room, every goddamn nook and cranny in the house, and nothing. You even went out into your rose garden, where Akaashi had taught you how to water and care for them.

        Nothing.

        “Akaashi?! Bokuto?!” Your voice grows more frantic as you sprint through the house, eyes darting back and forth in search of any hint of where they’ve gone.

        You only come to a halt at the one spot you haven’t checked.

        The front doors.

        They were usually locked, trapping you inside and keeping everything else out. But maybe just this once they weren’t.

        Hesitantly, almost reluctantly, you push down the handle with a bated breath. The gears grind within the ancient wood carvings, and you furrow your brows in concern when it opens.

        “A-Akaashi? Bokuto?”

        Rain gathers in puddles on the front steps as you peer down the driveway. Still empty, still bare. No sign of your boys. But you still call out their names, and dare to wander farther out.

        “Guys?” You step over and observe the hedges that line the mansion.

        Swift footfalls scuff the pavement behind you, and you breathe out a sigh of relief.

        “Oh thank God, I thought you guys went missing or someth-”

        Fabric falls over your head, blocking out the light of the sun and easily dampening in the rain. A bag. You don’t miss a beat, and let out a loud scream of pure terror.

        “Let me go!” You struggle against the hands caging your wrists behind your back. One sneaks away to sensually stroke your left hip, barely protected by your thin, black silk nightgown.

        A familiar cackle rings through the air, leaving your stomach to churn.

        Oh no.

        “I finally found you-”

        Oh God.

        “-Kitten.”

Just a Little Confession (Kuroo x Reader)

image

*GIF not mine*

Summary: A confession to Kenma doesn’t end as well as you thought it would, but luckily a tall, kind third-year is there to save the day. Still, confessions suck, and relationships are hard to read sometimes.

Author’s Note: I kinda love this one, so have fun and enjoy! (Edit: hehehe SO... this fanfic was... a little more personal than most, so if that’s why it seems a little... different, that’s why. I’m glad you guys have liked it tho!)

Word count: 4635

        Glancing around, you instantly noticed that none of your friends were in this class. It was your first year in high school, but you didn’t know a single soul around you. Hesitantly, you sat at the assigned desk the teacher had given you, and flushed in discomfort while you observed the groups of companions around you. You had never really been an extrovert, more often choosing to stay in your own personal bubble, so this was just a bad situation from the start.

       Soon, your painful solitude was quickly demolished when the bell rang and a boy with chin-length black hair sat in front of you. You hadn't seen him before, but judging by the way his shoulders hunched over and his head tipped down, you assumed he didn’t have any friends in the class either. This was your chance to finally make a friend, you thought, reaching out your hand to tap his shoulder and introduce yourself, but the teacher swiftly interrupted your idea.

       “Good morning and welcome to Nekoma, class. Today, we will start off slowly with an icebreaker.” The room broke out into a collective groan, hushed instantly with a small glare from the teacher. “It’s not that bad, I promise.” Now, she spoke with a forced smile, and you hid your small grin behind a hand. “All you need is a piece of paper and a partner.” Uh oh, that did it. After those words, everyone in the room performed the cliche “look to your bestie for project-partner safety” move, and now you were stuck in your lonesome, huffing and holding your chin in your hand as you waited for the teacher to notice your seclusion. Making eye contact, the teacher at once suggested, “Kozume, YLN, why don’t you two work together?” Raising your eyebrow, you watched as your original plan reformed itself, as the black-haired boy in front of you twisted in his chair to look back at you. Giving him a soft smile and introducing yourself, you observed as he quietly did the same while retrieving a piece of paper from his bag and setting it down on your desk. While making small talk, you could tell that you had finally found a friend, or at least someone to converse with, in the class, all thanks to the both of you being loners. Oh yeah, it’s all coming together, you thought to yourself victoriously.

                               ~~~
       To your own satisfaction, you and Kenma had become great friends, sharing an interest in video games and in dodging responsibilities. Most days, you needed a friend exactly like him. If you were panicking for a test, his lax attitude would calm you down. If you were happy for no reason, he would faintly return your wide grin, only for it to drop a second later as he would glance away and ask why you looked so weird. If you were miserable without a say, he would speak carefully and calmly with you, not truly showing an interest, but attempting to, and that was all that mattered to you.
       One time, you vividly remember him indirectly complimenting you after you had spoken badly of yourself. Pouting like a child, you had crossed your arms to cover your body as you stated, “God, I look terrible today. I’m too fat.”
       Kenma had rolled his eyes and replied, “Don’t say that about yourself, it’s not true. You shouldn’t be so mean to yourself, I think you’re cool.” He stated it without remorse, as though you could not prove him wrong, as if he believed it to be fact and nothing less. That’s when it began; that was when your crush on Kenma sprouted. No guy had ever complimented you before, so his words struck you like an arrow to the chest.
       That night, after rambling about the day’s events in your diary, you slammed the book closed and stared up at the ceiling, replaying the scene in your head like a movie. Growing red at the memory, you hugged your journal to your chest as you thought to yourself, this is so not okay.
                               ~~~

       A year had passed, and Kenma was now in a different class as you, not that it truly got him off your mind. Sure, you didn’t think of him as often, but he still lingered there. You harbored feelings for him that could never be taken away, only because he was the first guy who had shown interest in you, and it felt good to be wanted. At this point, you still acknowledged the fact that last year, your relationship had been purely platonic and nothing more. But that never stopped you from believing it could evolve into something more romantic, and you held onto that slim chance like a lifeline. Until today.

       The day had begun particularly terrible. First, you were on your period. Hormones were crazy and you felt like exploding on someone at any second. Second, you had just taken a test that you were not very confident in the result of, and just wanted to go to lunch and eat your sorrows away. Then one of the few acquaintances that you did have in your class this year, who had also been in the same class as you last year, decided that she could cheer you up with some delightful information about your old friend (and secret crush).

       “Hey YN, did you hear that Kenma got a girlfriend.” Your heart stopped for a split second, and suddenly your throat decided to close up for no reason whatsoever.

       Intaking a small breath, you replied, “Wow, that’s great for him.” But it hurt you, and you cursed yourself for being so affected by this little tidbit of information. You hadn’t talked to him in over a year, so you had no right to be… jealous? Or disappointed? One of the two.

       “Yeah, she’s the daughter of the substitute in…” Her voice faded away as she rambled on about things you just didn’t need to hear right now. You gazed off into the distance, suddenly finding the chalkboard behind her very interesting. Looks like it could use a good cleaning, you thought to yourself, tilting your head slightly to view it from a different angle. What a magnificent piece of- you were cut off from your “lights on, but nobody’s home” moment when the lunch bell finally rang. Flinching at the clangor that suddenly occurred, you sped off to sweet, glorious foodland, i.e. the cafeteria, leaving your friend in the dust while simultaneously cutting her off mid sentence. Now that’s multitasking.

                              ~~~
       At last, you arrived home for the day, and quickly made your way to your room. An urge to cry arose the instant you saw your diary. It was tempting you to write down what had happened today, but you really didn’t want evidence of this day forever. He has a girlfriend, he has a girlfriend, he has a girlfriend. Like a song with the worst chorus ever, that thought played on repeat in your head. Luckily, you decided to change the station, grabbing your earbuds from your nightstand and plugging in both ends of the cord accordingly, thankfully on the first try. As every normal teenager does, you instinctively choose a song that both forces you in your feels even worse and also makes you feel better, like you weren’t alone in this unjustified pain. We haven’t talked in months, so it’s understandable that he’s moved on. Especially since we weren’t in a relationship in the first place, you thought to yourself, feeling like a mature adult handling the situation rationally. But no matter how many times you whispered that in your head louder than the music in your ears, it never stopped you from hugging your childish, but necessary, stuffed animal tighter and allowing a few tears to slip.
                              ~~~

       Thank goodness, your sport was finally in season, and you were ready to play. After working your butt off and inspiring yourself with more than a few videos on YouTube, you were totally ready to kick names and take ass, and no one would stop you. You had after-school practice today, and both you and your teammate chatted happily as you walked into the cafeteria to refill your water bottles. As soon as you reached your destination, however, you heard a familiar, monotonous voice greet you.

       “Hey YN,” Kenma spoke, and you just about gave yourself whiplash while swinging around to see him give you a small smile and wave before continuing past with his tall, third year companion. You hadn’t uttered a word, but instead opted to give a meek wave as your voice caught in your throat. After watching him disappear into a crowd on his way to the gym for volleyball practice, your teammate cheekily elbowed you in the side and waggled her eyebrows at you suggestively with a sly smile.

       “He totally likes you,” she teased while resealing her water bottle. You synthetically guffawed at the thought, frantically shaking your head at the thought, but your eyes, still wide from watching Kenma walk away, begged to differ.

       “He doesn’t like me,” you refuted, but the butterflies in your stomach began swarming with hope at the thought.

       “He totally does!” She supported her opinion with an encouraging smile.

       “No he doesn’t, because he has a girlfriend, and I like him,” you confessed, and your mood took a swan dive at the memory. Oh right, he has a girlfriend.

       “Oh,” was your teammate’s only response, and the subject was quickly dropped from conversation. And even though she seemed to give in to that fact quite instantly, you weren’t so sure anymore. Her words enlivened something inside you, gave you a bubble of hope that panged at your heart. Uh oh, I have an idea, you thought, and it was bad. Really bad. But you liked it.

                               ~~~
       For the first time in your life, you decided to confess to a guy you liked. You had never done it before, but all your friends always talk about their less-than-ideal confessions, and now it was your turn. It’s a part of life everyone must experience: an action born of pure humility with just a sprinkle of hope that led to either a relationship or self-loathing. Either way, you believed you were ready for it. Sadly, no one’s ever really prepared, and you just kind of have to go for it. So that’s what you were doing. Maybe it was a bad idea, but it also felt like a rite of passage into becoming a true high schooler. The shame or pride coming from the other end, whichever you received, would contain a life-lesson for relationships. Plus, you had weighed the odds of whether he had broken up with his girlfriend, and felt pretty confident in your results. And so, there you were, restlessly shifting from foot-to-foot in the middle of the school cafeteria, waiting to intercept Kenma on his path to practice. Slightly lightheaded, you took a few deep breaths as you allowed your eyes to survey the bunch of students around you for the blond-and-black haired volleyball player. Finally, you spotted him, even though his shorter stature had made it difficult.
       “Kenma!” you called out victoriously, grabbing his attention in a flash. His gold eyes seeked out the voice, and a small smile grew on his face when he saw you approaching. Stopping in front of him, you felt the telltale signs of nervousness beginning to grow throughout your body, and you hurriedly hid your clammy hands behind your back. “H-hey umm,” you stopped yourself, gulping anxiously and thus swallowing the stutters escaping your lips. Your body, in exchange, gave you a propelling wave of confidence, which you allowed out of your mouth in the form of, “I just wanted to tell you that umm…” you trailed off, your mind going blank and your jaw slacking as you stared at him. Confused, Kenma’s brows furrowed while he watched you zone out in a matter of seconds. Oh f**k me this is embarrassing, you thought to yourself, quickly swallowing the fly you had caught before shaking your head. Thanking any deity that roamed in the sky for granting you a single moment of clarity, you took the chance and quickly blurted out, “I have a crush on you, and I’ve had it since last year, and… yeah.” While that didn’t last long, but at least you got the job done, right? Bouncing on your toes, you braced for impact while fighting the urge to run away and/or throw up from nervousness.
       “Oh, umm, wow YN, that’s really nice of you to say, I guess,” he mumbled, and your brow raised in confusion at his words. “But I have a girlfriend.” Oh, there it is. Slowly, your breath hitched, and your nerves began to calm from the blanket of disappointment that had been dropped onto your body like ice cold water from a bucket. Why do people do this again? Does it ever end well? ‘Cause right now, it’s kinda sucking major butthole.
       “Oh, ok, so I’m gonna go now I’ll see you around,” you babbled, turning around without another word and making a beeline for the exit of the school. Not a soul had been around to witness the downfall of YN, not that it would have been any more mortifying than it already was.
       You wanted to laugh. You wanted to make jokes until the pain faded away, and the tears evaporated. But your body denied the request, and instead you got a sniffle. Then another. Then another, until your whole face looked like a new, mucusy waterfall discovered right here in Tokyo. Disgusting, and it felt disgusting too. What a horrible feeling, plan, and experience, all wrapped into the world’s shittiest present. Nobody wants to cry in school, though, so you pushed open the exit doors and let them slam behind you without a care for the loud sound it made. You promptly slumped down the wall beside the doors and let loose. Surprisingly, you weren’t one to cry often, and when you did, it was normally an especially wretched occasion. Does this one count, because it sure as hell feels like it counts. Hugging your knees to your chest, you gladly welcomed the stars that floated behind your eyelids from clenching them shut so hard, and greeted the tingly sensation growing in your arms from clutching your legs tightly happily as well. The pain was a distraction, until it wasn’t the only distraction.
       A presence crouched down in front of you, but you refused to look up. In this school, you had no image to maintain, but you sure as hell still didn’t want to flash your sniffling mug to whoever sat in front of you. So he took the first step.
       “Hey, are you okay, YN?” The male voice was gruff and hesitant, but still compassionate enough to make you want to give in and take comfort in his arms. Right now, you didn’t want to ask how he knew your name. All you knew was you needed support. Hell, any source of sympathy you could be given right now you would accept gladly. Gradually, you raised your head and looked at the boy in front of you, almost bursting into tears for a second time at the sight. Although your eyes burned from the light around you, along with the sudden release of pressure thanks to opening your eyelids, you instantly recognized Kenma’s tall third year friend. Suddenly, you felt like you would be better off alone again, and lord how you wished that were true. But you weren’t superhuman, and you had emotions, and needed comfort. So when the guy noticed your original plan of burrowing back into yourself once more, he gave you an undeniable proposal, swiftly opening up his arms in offering of a hug.
       To be clear, you weren’t the type of girl to enjoy being a damsel in distress. Generally, you would deny hugs from strangers, and you rarely felt comfortable even hugging your friends, but right now you needed someone, anyone who would listen, or even just hold you and let you cry on their shoulder. So you softened yourself up and acknowledged this fact, accepting the hug while slowly falling forward into his warm arms and weeping quietly. While trying to stop the fresh wave of tears loading up in your ducts, you attempted to distract yourself by thinking about your… shoulder-to-cry-on’s name. It started with a K, that much you knew. However, when he began to softly caress the back of your head, the new wave of tears unleashed without warning at his tender actions. Yes, it hurt to be rejected by Kenma, but this overwhelming need to cry in someone’s hold travelled deeper than that. Your diary no longer could contain all the emotions you felt trapped in your mind for the past few years now. Finally, you realize that pen and paper just won’t do it: you need someone else by your side to prevent you from truly exploding. In the third year’s arms, you felt cared for, for the first time in a long while, and it felt good. On the surface, you felt greedy and selfish. Who were you to take up this guy’s time with your tears? But then you remembered that he offered first, and yeah, maybe he wasn’t enjoying it so much right now, as surely you weren’t a great sight to see, but surely he could tell how much you needed it. And no one should deprive another from letting their guard down and just plain old crying. So for a few more minutes, you relished in his grasp, wondering how much time had truly passed while waiting for your tears to slow. What a stand-up guy this dude is, you thought, I hope he’s really happy in his life so he doesn’t have to feel an ache like this. Yes, you barely spent enough time with Kenma to truly blame all of the tears you had shed on him, but he had still been your first real crush, and your first confession and rejection, so it still tore a wound in your heart. Besides, it feels good to cry.
       When your eyes and nose began to dry and all that was left of your blubbering was puffy, red cheeks, you pulled back away from the guy, laughing awkwardly and wiping at your face with the sleeve of your school uniform. “Thank you,” you mumbled gratefully, giving him a soft smile, “I really needed that.”
       “Of course,” he replied, smiling and nodding understandingly.
       “So umm, what’s your name?”
       He cracked up at your question, and you giggled softly with him, cheeks burning at your own obliviousness. “Kuroo, my name’s Kuroo.”
       I knew it started with a K.
       “Well, thanks Kuroo, I’m sorry if I ruined your- Oh crap I ruined your shirt!” You gasped in surprise at the large splotch you had left behind, a damp mark circling the collarbone and shoulder of his blue blazer. Once more, he chuckled at your reaction and shrugged off the jacket, revealing the typical white and black shirts underneath. Folding it on his lap, he patted it down before leaning forward with his elbows on his knees.
       “It’s fine, don’t worry about it.” You purse your lips and huff slightly at his dismissive attitude. You wanted to repay him, and covering his blazer with your own snot and tears was not sufficient enough payment, no matter how much you wanted it to be. “It’s fine, I swear,” he insisted with a smirk, snickering at your panic. “Now tell me. What happened?”
                               ~~~

       Walking through the halls, you couldn’t seem to help the smile stuck on your face. Kuroo looked down at you and grinned back, tightening his arm around your shoulders and squeezing lightly. “Why are you so smiley today? Not that I’m complaining, but it’s kinda freaking me out, so feel free to explain,” he teased, poking the side of your cheek after you had stuck your tongue out at his comment. After that fateful day when your confession to Kenma had flopped, Kuroo had stuck by your side like a fly on a piece of crap. On the first day, when he spotted you in the halls, he came over and gave you a small side hug, wrapping his lanky arm around your shoulders and pulling you into his side. At first, you blushed and shyly pushed at his chest to move away, embarrassed like a daughter would be of her father. But now you began to cherish his hugs and clingy actions, almost missing them whenever you were in class or at home. The pair of you currently had a routine going: Kuroo would spot you in the halls and call out your name, and you would look up, approach him and wrap your arm around his waist as he pulled you into his side, his thumb caressing your collarbone. Slowly, Kuroo began to worm his way into your daily life, and you allowed it. On days where you were unhappy, he would walk you to class and even bring you a treat from a vending machine if he had the chance. On days where you seemed particularly upbeat, he would give you a grin back and poke your cheeks, commenting on how beautiful you looked when you wore a smile. Things were great, so much better than before that you easily forgot how spontaneous this change in your daily life had been. All because you were simply… happier.

       “I’m just thinking about how your hair looks like a chicken,” you laughed, squealing after he pokes you in the side as revenge.

       “Excuse me, it’s called a ‘Rooster head,’ look it up. Plus, you said you liked it,” he exclaimed, making a disappointed noise at your betrayal.

       “Eh.” You shrugged.

       “Eh, EH! What does ‘eh’ mean?! Part of the reason I like you is because you don’t make fun of my hair, too, so don’t test me,” Kuroo shamelessly admitted, messing around with your own locks in revenge as you tried to wrestle away from his destructive hands. After finally escaping his grip, you both said your farewells as you stepped into your classroom, a pleasant, irresistible smile on your face.

                               ~~~
       The day had turned gloomier for the rest of the school when it began to rain outside, but it just so happened to be your favorite weather, so you didn’t complain one bit. While sitting at a table in the cafeteria, you closely inspected your umbrella, hoping to see what had made it utterly useless. Losing yourself in the moment of trying to think of how an umbrella is constructed, you don’t realize a figure is approaching until it’s too late. Then you hear it: the squeaky steps of tennis shoes. Looking up to identify the student, you instantly tense up at the sight and forget your emergency exits. Good thing you’re not on a plane, ‘cause you would be fu-.
       “Hey YN,” Kenma speaks, interrupting your train of thought. His golden eyes are piercing straight through you, making you feel paralyzed and helpless.
       “H-hey Kenma, long time no see huh,” you laugh nervously. “So how’s your girlf-”
       “So you and Kuroo, now, huh?” How many times is this motherf****r gonna cut me off- wait what? His tone was sharp as a knife, and even though he had only uttered those words, you already wondered what you had done wrong. You felt like you were trapped in a boiling pot of water, the temperature slowly rising as you sat there, stuck.
       “Huh?” was the only response that escaped your lips questioningly.
       “YN, I really do care for you, so let me just warn you now. Kuroo has had a lot of girlfriends, and they come and go real quick, so be careful. I just don’t want you to get hurt.”
       Kenma’s voice had turned soft along with his eyes, but all you could reply was “Huh?” Neglecting your confused look, the volleyball player walked away without another word, leaving you alone with your umbrella. “What the hell was that?” you looked down and asked the object. Sadly, it didn’t respond, nor did it work, so you stood up and accepted your fate, leaving Nekoma and trekking through the rain to your house. As the droplets soaked through your school-issued blazer while you sauntered, your mind never strayed from wondering what the hell Kenma had been talking about.
                               ~~~

       Laying down on your bed and contemplating your encounter with Kenma did wonders on your habit of overthinking things, but at least you finally think you’ve figured it out. Did Kenma think you and Kuroo were dating? Well duh, obviously. But was he jealous of Kuroo, or was he just looking out for his old friend? The part of you that still harbored feelings for him, because if you didn’t know, that shit doesn’t fade away even after a few weeks, desperately wanted to believe that he was jealous. Plus, every girl loves to hear how a guy is jealous over her. However, you knew Kenma, and you knew his only two emotions were slight excitement and boredom. So you had to throw that idea out the window, which left you with the other half of contemplations about whether Kuroo and you appeared to be a couple. You supposed the hugging made it seem that way. That, and the fact that the day you had confessed to Kenma, you had told all your friends before that you were going to confess to “someone.” Also, all those times your friends had said you and Kuroo were a cute pair. And that one time you kissed him on his cheek because he had given you chocolate on a bad day. And whenever he kisses you on the side of the head before dropping you off at class. And that one time when- Holy crap! Do you like Kuroo? Are you two dating and you didn’t even notice? Moving on to the most important questions: did you like Kuroo, and did he return those feelings? Your hand twitched towards your phone, and you blinked down in surprise. At this point, your heart was beating rapidly as you stared into the black screen at your own reflection. Should you call him? Are you tired of asking questions and ready to get some fucking answers? Dear God yes. Swiftly, you snatched up your phone and looked at Kuroo’s contact. When he had placed his number in your phone, he had also added multiple heart emojis around his name as well. Huh, never realized those were there. When contemplating between the call and text button, your finger had accidentally skimmed so close that you hit ‘call.’

       “Shit, shit, shit, shii...take mushrooms, hey Kuroo.” You were interrupted in the midst of your nervous cussing when a voicemail started recording after your cheek had accidentally pressed the one button. “Um, so I just wanted to know if you like me and if we’re dating. Talk to you later, okay byeeeee.” You hit end call and groaned while running your hands down your face, shoving your phone as far away from your lap as possible. The stress from… whatever the hell you wanna call what you just did, was starting to get to your head, so much so that you decided to take a nap to sleep off the embarrassment.

                               ~~~
Practice Makes Perfect (Tsukishima x Reader)
Practice Makes Perfect (Tsukishima X Reader)
*GIF not mine*
Summary: There’s nothing wrong with preparing to ask out the guy you like. Just make sure you don’t have an audience while you do it.
A/N: Hey guys, I’ve been going through a rough patch recently, so I’m sorry if I disappointed any of you by not posting. I’ll try to get back on the wagon soon, I promise. Here’s an imagine I got an idea for from this prompt by @otpdisaster. I hope you guys like it!
Word count: 1115
        You’ve been at it for a while now. The bathroom was empty and silent; perfect for your test runs during lunch hour. The lights occasionally flickered and created a buzz that was mind-numbing, but you couldn’t complain.
       “Hey Tsukishima… I like your… eyes? No! God YN, that’s terrible.” You shook your head at yourself in the mirror before trying one more time. This round, you bit your lip and fluttered your eyelashes.
       “Hey there, Tsukki,” you pucker your lips slightly, “I was wondering if you wanted to go out with me this Friday?” Your reflection was an abomination; you looked halfway constipated.
       “Ughhhh, this is a nightmare!” Turning on the sink, you splash some cold water in your face before bracing your hands against the porcelain. There was still a light in your eyes, and the longer you looked at yourself, the more beauty you seemed to find. Something about today made you feel ready. Ready to ask out the boy you’d been crushing on for years now.
       “No, no YN! You can do this!” You nodded at yourself reassuringly and smiled. Pearly whites shown through thanks to weeks of strips. Every strand of hair on your head was about as in place as they could be. Your lips were soft and freshly chapsticked, and for once in your life, you felt attractive in your school uniform. “I can do this,” you whispered once more before turning away from the mirror.
       With a dramatic hair flip, you turned back to your reflection with a smirk and a sultry voice. “Are you a parking ticket?” You raised a suggestive brow, “Because you’ve got fine written all over you.” Nope. With a pouty sigh, you smack your palm against your forehead.
       “Why do I suck at thissss?” No response, which led you to be simultaneously pissed off and relieved. You wanted help, but not from anybody conscious in society. Running a hand through your strands, you huff and throw your head back, staring at the ceiling as if it would guide you. Then, you shake your body out like a wet dog and return your gaze to the glass, slamming one hand on your popped-out hip to emphasize your curves, however nonexistent they were.
       “Hey sexy.” Cue eyebrow waggle. “You, me, the movies. Eight o’ clock, don’t be late- Nope, nope, nope.” Your cheeks were trying to beat the sun, you just knew it. They burned and mimicked the colors of tomatoes. But somewhere, deep down at the bottom of your gut, you just didn’t want to give up.
       “Please go out with me!” Hands clasped together in a begging motion, you pouted. Too wussy.
       “Hey you!” You pointed a finger accusingly, “Go out with me! Or else!” Too threatening.
       “I’ll buy you some candy if you go out with me,” you bargained with wide, desperate eyes. Too child-kidnappy.
       “I don’t suppose you’ve noticed my, uhh, mandatory school uniform.” You trailed a hand down the side of your body awkwardly. “It’s made of,” you deepen your voice and narrow your eyes, “girlfriend material.” Too serial killerish.
       “Would you like to be my precious?” you rasped, scratching up your throat. Too Gollumy.
       “Fuck, this is never gonna work!” Throwing your hands up in the air in exasperation, you release a roar that could tremble the internal organs of your enemies before-
       “Ha! I got it! He plays volleyball!” You hop out of your self-deprecating groove instantly with one single, genius idea. Body wiggling excitedly, you delve into your backpack and snatch your phone. Google is such a wonderful resource.
       “If I was a volleyball, I’d let you hit me all day…” you read aloud before glancing back up at yourself and shaking your head. “I’m desperate, but I’m not that desperate.” Minutes passed, and you test-ran through a couple more lines until you finally found it. The one.
       “Do you play volleyball?” Eyes glowing victoriously, you beamed at the mirror, “Because I sure dig you!” The vandalized, STD-infested high school restroom stays silent, but it didn’t deter you. Your heart pangs with excitement, and you knew you were ready.
       “It’s perfect!” You were about to high-five yourself, but a muffled snicker interrupted you. The beating in your chest stops for a second and you burst into a cold sweat. Oh crap, who’s there?!
       “H-hello?” You grab your backpack and raise it in front of you. “Who is it? Who’s there?” The last person you wanted to see steps into the women’s bathroom, smug smirk and all.
       “I don’t know, I kind of liked the Lord of the Rings one.” He shrugs. “Your impression was spot on.” Your throat constricts and you struggle to breathe, let alone respond.
       “Why are you here?” you choke out, hiding your clammy palms behind your back.
       “The teacher sent me to ask if you were okay. Guess she thought you fell in.” Everything about Tsukishima screams ‘smug.’ Before you liked him, it pissed you off. Then it became endearing. And now it makes you want to crawl into a hole and die.
       “So, how much did you hear?”
       “About five minutes before the Optimus Prime impression.”
       “Oh God!” You hide your face into your hands and groan exasperatedly. “You heard all of that?!” He chuckles before nodding, eyes glowing arrogantly behind his frames.
       “Most of it wasn’t half-bad, though.” You peek between your fingers.
       “Really?”
       “Yeah,” he licks his lips while crossing his arms. “Give one a try.” Brows furrowed in confusion, you open and close your mouth repeatedly like a fish until he explains further.
       “I promise you’ll like the outcome.” There’s this weird look on his face. It’s not angry, or cocksure. He doesn’t look like he’s about to ream your ass or point out all the mistakes you’ve made in your life. It looks almost like… a smile. And a reassuring one at that. Your eyes widen at the sight before a lop-sided grin grows on your face.
       “All right,” you nod nonchalantly, but your eyes flicker with excitement, “which one do you wanna hear first?”
       “Hmm, how about my favorite of yours so far: goose in the park looking for a Tsukishima-shaped bread crumb?”
