This was soooooo much harder than it should’ve been, but thank you for the tag! @mossyfernhugger
I actually don’t have 10 friends lol, but I’m doing it anyways. Really fun though!
Thanks for the tag @mkweber 😊

i take back everything i said. I had a gut feeling she’d end up winning. I don’t mind beyoncé, but i just don’t think it was that deserved? Don’t get me wrong, she’s been robbed before, countless times. I just didn’t see that being her best work. As for Billie’s album, it was amazing. And nothing? Oh cmon, 13,000 people. The lyrics, engineering, the discography, all heavenly. Cowboy Carter was a bold move by Beyoncé really, and as a country kid, i tip my hat to her change, didn’t mind it. I thought she deserved country album of the year tbh. Lainey, Kacey and Chris’s albums weren’t that catchy to me. But what we need to look at is the history of the grammys. It may have a part. Women of color honestly do not get the attention they deserve for album of the year. They have been long overdue. I mean last year, i thought it was SZA’s. (sorry swifties.) It was a solid album. But why has it taken so long? Now looking back, the last time a black female artist won album of the year was none other than….
Ms Lauryn Hill. For the Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.
Now, what made it so special? Well friends, what she made was extraordinary (would recommend it a listen.) That album was enough to make grown men cry. It was all perfectly planned out, all of it. The beats, flow, lyrics, the whole damn album was an engineered masterpiece. But what made it catch the eyes of the committee? The impact it had on society. I’d say it inspired women (especially those of color) to wear their hair natural, have self love, embrace motherhood, and have truth. It redefined hip-hop and r&b. Shortening it, it did a hell of a lot outside of music.
That’s the reason i feel the committee awarded it to Beyoncé. The Impact. I do have two questions…
Did we really feel the impact of this album?
Did this meet the standards that Miseducation made?
Now it’s not right to compare these i know. But when you are giving it for impact, well, that’s when you can compare. I mean, it was a cool idea, bringing black people back into country music. Country music should be for everyone. Historically, we had black cowboys. The beats for some of her songs were good. I just didn’t feel this album, as opposed to her other ones. To me it sounded like the songs were out of order. It would switch from country twang to beats of hip hop and r&b. It felt out of place to me. But the 13,000 committee members must’ve thought it was good enough, to award such a high award to her.
But i’m just a dumb music enjoyer,
so what would i know?
Thank you for coming to my ted talk.
so i listened to all the nominees for album of the year, and um, it could honestly go to anyone. this could be a jon baptiste 2.0 moment if you know what I mean. so be prepared everyone, it’s gonna be quite the ride.
My best picture from my trip, the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone
So “Jonny” by Faye Webster is describing me a bit too much these days. The lyrics “my dog is my best friend” made me just pause the song and stare into oblivion for a sec. Like here is my dog, laying with me in my bed, while i’m blasting this song in my room. I guess my dog really is my best friend. Thanks Faye.
