do you think ash used to be religious and wished for a god to save him as a child. do you think realising nobody was coming to his rescue was his first experience with crushing loneliness. do you think that loneliness crawled into his skin and used his rotting body to start the fire of hatred. hatred for the monsters around him. hatred for a non-existent god and false promises. hatred for himself. do you think he wished so desperately for eiji to be saved that he was willing to put that hatred aside. that he was willing to accept the problem lay within him, that god did exist and he, aslan jade callenreese, was just unworthy of that god's benevolence, so it would be okay if he traded his life for eiji's.

✧ all the stars - kendrick&sza ✧
"I thought of how many nights I had lain awake in this room, loving him in silence."
all the stars are closer i.e. achilles sleeping beside patroclus as the latter lay awake, yearning.
"We were like gods at the dawning of the world, and our joy was so bright we could see nothing else but the other."
the youthful notion that nothing would happen to them, when in fact they were running out of time. the way they were obsessed with each other.
"....they never let you be happy and famous."
corrupt a man's heart with a gift i.e. achilles having enough strength to succumb to pride.
"If you have to go, you know I will go with you."
the fact that both achilles and patroclus didn't care about winning or losing at the end — they simply wanted each other.
"I wish he had let you all die."
"There are no bargains between lions and men. I will kill you and eat you raw."
the way achilles was always uncaring of others, their views, their attitudes, and aware of their lies, their schemes, but the only thing that mattered to him was patroclus.
"I would recognize you in total darkness, were you mute and I deaf. I would recognize you in another lifetime entirely, in different bodies, in different times. And I would love you in all of this, until the very last star in the sky burnt out into oblivion."
"I could recognize him by touch alone, by smell; I would know him blind, by the way his breaths came and his feet struck the earth. I would know him in death, at the end of the world.”
"I am made of memories."
"Go," she says. "He waits for you."
In the darkness, two shadows, reaching through the hopeless, heavy dusk. Their hands meet, and light spills in a flood like a hundred golden urns pouring out of the sun.
enough said.
every single day the realisation that yjh is literally the physical embodiment of hsy's love, hope, and desperation hits me like a truck and i die a little inside. like. she's spent lifetimes crafting him by pulling him out of the deepest corners of her heart, and even if he tries to become cold or unfeeling he will ALWAYS, first and foremost, be an existence made up of her purest emotions which means they get each other like nobody else, not even kim dokja :((
two characters who only ever know how to chase after someone that keeps slipping away, leaving them with the crushing weight of being lonely and INCOMPLETE, and whatever comfort they can find they find in each other's arms.
or. in other words. two characters who give pieces of themselves away for eternity without a word and are caught so off guard when they're together and directing that devotion at each other, making this the first time THEY are ever someone else's priority.
AUGHHEHHEHE 💔💔
i jsut think its so funny and interesting and hmmmmm that ratio meets sunday and has one conversation with him basically and goes 'oh yeah this guy is the same breed of crazy as aventurine (who needs therapy yesterday)' and then sunday is control/fate/future and aventurine is chaos/luck+chance/present. both of them hiding their true selves/feelings behind facades, and it being commented on directly in the narrative. they both even have/had a sister they depend on. like they're PERFECT narrative foils. they're perfect reflections of each other.
rereading tokyo ghoul and man Amon was just going through random bullshit in the early chapters 😭😭 they killed his weird as fuck mentor like ten chapters in for the plot. they got him questioning his entire worldview because of one (☝) emo teenager in a mask. they had my guy working with a pipsqueak who sucked out and chewed up a police officer's eardrum + proceeded to explain the concept of body stitching (with visuals btw) at the ass crack of dawn. then they had him go seek help from his father who was revealed to be just your regular child slaughtering church guy. they set him up for a tsundere romance and then killed him off what the hell kind of sitcom is this????
