Grimes and Elon Musk change unique baby name

Elon Musk and his partner, Grimes, shocked the world earlier this month when they revealed the quirky name for their new baby boy.

But the unique name (sadly) won’t stick as the pair has been forced to make some minor changes to the toddler’s given name.

The Tesla king and his singer girlfriend have apparently changed the boy’s name from “X Æ A-12” to “X Æ A-Xii” after it reportedly failed to comply with California state law.

Grimes said on Instagram that the law only allows one dash in a name, meaning they had no option but to make the change.

The news comes after social media users questioned whether the moniker could even be registered, as first names can only use the 26 alphabet letters of the English language.

Grimes, real name Claire Boucher, welcomed her first child on May 4.

She said part of the name is a tribute to the CIA’s Lockheed A-12 reconnaissance plane, while the “A,” was a nod to her favourite song ‘Archangel’, and the number “12” represented the Chinese zodiac symbol for the rat.

The correct pronunciation for the name remains unclear, however, it is understood the unique baby name is intended to be pronounced as just “X” then “A.I”.
