hey! i’ve been drawing mistborn characters as cats for a little while now and i thought i’d share them! i definitely might do some more characters i do have some ideas
also did you know kelsier is like one of the only characters who has their eye color described? like not even Vin
this might have spoilers for era 1 mistborn! just keep that in mind—
first up, Vin! i love her so much, and i hope her scruffy design matches her pretty well- ik the eye scar isn’t canon but i drew it once trying to come up with a design and fell in love with it so
second is Kelsier! i wish i made him less fluffy but besides that im pretty happy with it! he’s a funky little chimera-
third up is Reen! his design honestly might be my favorite, with Ruin and Vin being up there with him. i tried to give him some face and shoulder markings kinda similar to Vin? but i couldn’t resist making him red.
fourth isss Ruin! he’s got a little floppy ear and cat skulls he wears cause I needed a way to physically represent things like him impersonating people and this was my solution-
fifth is Spook! he’s lanky and soft like he should be, his design is kinda simple but I like it!
sixth is Rashek! he is unbelievably fluffy and his design is black and white because of course i had too-
seventh isss Alendi! he is friend shaped and im very happy with how he turned out-
and finally, eighth is Shan Elariel! this design needs some tweaking i think but im very happy with her fluffy tail
went to the pub for a drink on my first real day off in over a week and watched the girl behind the bar drop the entire cash drawer on the floor in the middle of the rush and then just stare at it at her feet for like a solid two minutes
aka possessions which are just possessions, but which have noticeably improved my quality of life: for when people ask you “what do you want for your birthday/Christmas/graduation” and you instantly transform into St Francis and pledge fealty to Lady Poverty because your mind went blank
nice. new. sheets. I cannot emphasize this one enough. if you’re still using the same sheets you had in college, you should probably get new ones. get yourself some 100% bamboo rayon sheets—they’re silky and perfect for summer and great for sensitive skin! or, if you’re cold all the time, flannel sheets!
kitchen knives. or even just one really good kitchen knife.
new curtains—blackout if you are a creature of the night like I am
fleece lined anything, but especially sweatpants and hoodies. wool lined socks are also good. if you don’t have the option of coming home after work and putting on an entire outfit that is loose and fuzzy, you should change that, because you deserve that option.
cookie sheets with a layer of air between the top and the bottom. the bottoms of your cookies will never burn again.
kitchen scale!!! no more leveling off flour with a knife and getting it all over the table!! now all your measuring is just shoveling stuff in and out of bowls like you’re at the beach. baking is both more accurate and also way more fun.
coffee bean grinder. if you want to upgrade your coffee experience, this is a great one-time purchase. just-ground beans have a much better flavor than pre-ground.
CDs!! ask for a gift card and expand your physical music collection! or a collection of the DVDs for your favorite show!
do u have a set of little brain tools u like to use to think about things? here are some of mine
grass sheep: based on the story of an ai who identified photos of sheep correctly, but then it turned out it was recognizing photos with grass in the background. i try to find the grass of a sheep when i'm thinking about the "proof" of something to identify possible other things that could produce that result other than the thing that is assumed to be being proven
hot swap: when thinking about something's place in the world, i like to try to imagine what would need to be different about the larger context for something else to take its place. what would need to be different? what would follow as a change? i often do this to two things that are presented as opposites.
sterility vs bioactivity: there's two solutions to reptile husbandry, one of having sterile and frequently cleaned items to manually remove waste and kill disease, and the other of creating a small ecosystem to reduce and process waste and prevent disease by having other things living there. i use this to think about what alternate routes of solutions could be other than manual control/reduction/elimination of problems
third axis: if i get stuck on a problem that seems to have only two answers, i try to move "vertically" away from it. if something must be either true or false, what would it mean for it to not matter either way? if something must be either supported or fought against, what would it mean to make it irrelevant entirely?
