10 Easy & Quick Steps On How To Get Volumous Hair With Minimal Effort

If you're anything like me, then volume is probably something you've struggled with when starting your curly girl journey, or maybe it's something you still struggle with? There's a bunch of different products out there to help, but if you're on a budget or don't want to spend any more, look no further!

Just after washing your hair, scrunch as much of the water as you can out with your hands.

If your hair gets oily easily, don't apply mousse or gel directly near your roots. This will weigh them down.

When applying mousse/gel, flip your hair to one side, then apply. Then do the same to ther other side and lastly do it upside down.

After doing your final steps after your wash (for me that is after mousse) do NOT touch your hair too much, especially near the root. This flattens mine and they don't curl up well after!

By cheap alligator clips for your hair (the double prong ones). These only cost a few dollars and are really helpful when it comes to lifting up those gorgeous curls at the roots.

Don't over do it with the plopping. I find that this can flatten my roots.

Pineapple your hair overnight. This creates volume and there's tons of tutorials on YouTube on how to do it.

If you need your hair to look great next-day then I have the perfect trick that always works. Wash it the day before your event, and instead of scrunching out the mousse/gel, leave it in and pineapple your hair overnight. Then on the next day, scrunch it out an you'll be sure to have amazing curls that hold for days!

When scrunching out the crunch, do it with your hair flipped over to the side instead of upside down. I have no idea why this works, but my hair started having amazing results after I did this.

Apply a little bit of hair oil in scrunching motions to lift it up. This also helps control frizz very well. Make sure to not apple to roots.

I really hope that this has been helpful and that you guys can learn a few tips and tricks that have really helped me along my curly girl journey so far! Thank you so much for supporting this blog! ❤❤❤

How I Finally Got Volume In My Hair & Fought Flat Roots ONCE And FOR ALL

So, if you haven't checked out my tips for volume, I recommend doing that, but if you're here to find out my one tip, stick with me. When I wrote that I was just starting to get curls on the top of my head, but it was only today evening I truly realized what was holding me, or my hair back. Plopping. Yep, you heard it right. Plopping. It's not that plopping is bad- It's extremely convenient and a great way for your hair to dry faster- But when your hair is bunched up like that, it also gets pressed down causing the roots to flatten, and there's pretty much no coming back once that's gone. The fact that I have coarse, oily and low porosity hair may all have an impact in this, but for me it just doesn't work. When I stopped this I got immediate results, but I never realized just why until now. Instead of plopping, just micro-plop, it's that easy!

So, if this is something you are struggling with, I suggest avoiding it and seeing how much of a difference it makes.

Hope you all are having an amazing day, and remember, you're all beautiful!!

Tips For Starting The Curly Girl Method

1. Don't buy tons of products and spend heaps of money, just a co-wash and mouuse or gel works great, and you can exand as you go!

2. Use a scalp brush! These things are miracles- especially if you have really oily hair like me! They also will also cut extend the number of days between your washes!

3. Just use a cotton t-shirt for drying. Many people invest in a perfect hair care towel, but why not just use what you've got?

4. For great curl clumps, use your hands to micro-plop as much water as you can out of them when you're in the shower, and then apply mousse or gel and micro-plop again.

5. I get great results out of washing my hair in the evening and putting it up in a pineapple when it's not fully dry. This keeps the mousse and volume in so when you wake up, it's not only dry but the scrunching gives you AMAZING curls. I never used to do this but now I love it!

6. You don't need a satin pillowcase or bonet. Literally just pineapple your hair in the night and your hair will be as good as new in the morning!

7. Don't tire yourself out with the CGM. It's easy to get lost in a spiral of possibilities but if you read my previously post, you'll see that it's so simple to do if you keep it that way!

So, I hope you've learnt something from this and I can inspire you and help you out on your curly girl journey ❤

The Basic Rules Of The Curly Girl Method

This is a short and simple guide of the do's and don'ts of the CGM!

1. This is probably the most important one. Don't use any products with harmful chemicals like sulfats and silicones. To check if your product is CG friendly, use this website...

http://www.isitcg.com/

2. Only wet brush your hair. dry brushing will break your hair and get ri of your beautiful curls!

3. Use a cotton t-shirt instead of a towel on your hair.

4. Don't use any heat on your hair. This includes everything but hair diffusers on low heat, or a hairdryer on low heat when you're plopping. Another little hack is using a sift on your hair while hairdrying.

5. Wash your hair in luke warm to cold water. This will really help cut back on frizz!

These are the simple rules, but if you want more in depth tips on how to do it, check out my other post! Thanks for reading and I wish you well on your Curly Girl Jounrey! ❤

Things I Wish I'd Known Before Starting The Curly Girl Method

I'm going to list 5 things I wish I knew before I started the CGM!

To spend time on technique instead of tons of products. I wish that in the first few weeks I had focused on how I apply the products you already have and how that's affecting your results, as opposed to buying different ones.

That I didn't have to have perfect curls and refresh my hair everyday. Instead I should've play around with different hairstyles that showcase the sections of hair that I was happy with.

I didn't have to follow the same techniques and routines as people I saw online. It would have been better to get inspo, and go from there.

I wish I had gotten a cut just before or at the start of my CG journey! I got a trim at about week 5, and it really helped the back layers of my hair curl.

Have fun with it! It's not all about having AMAZING hair every day! Just live in the moment and love your hair how it is!

Being a good person is a choice. Don’t let people fool you into believing that truly good people never have bad thoughts, are never tempted by the easier path, by the low road, never mess up or act out selfishly. Never believe a person can be good without making a conscious effort.

Every single time you do something good, you’ve made a decision to make the world a little brighter.

Goodness is not an inherent trait, it is a choice. Keep making it! I see you, I’m proud of you, and I’m rooting for you!

“I often have the fantasy that curly girls are mermaids who have had to adapt to life on dry land. We come from the sea. The ocean is in our blood. It sings through our heart and lungs, our skin and hair. Our curls require the nourishment only a watery environment can provide. Both ocean waves and curly hair are forces of nature that can't be tamed. We can only accept and admire their power and beauty.”- Lorraine Massey, Curly Girl

THE SECRET To Getting IMMEDIATE Results With The Curly Girl Method

The Curly Girl Method is something that varies so much from person to person. Some people get results after a few weeks, and some don't get them until 6 months later. I'm going to tell you the only secret you need to know to get immediate success.

I've broken this into 2 simple parts.

1. Research Research Research!

The first step to success is doing A LOT of research. This can be anything from products to techniques to routines. This step works even better if you do it before you start your CG journey so you have a solid plan!

2. DO NOT Research!

Now before you click off because of the MASSIVE contradiction, just hear me out. Once you've done all your research and have done a few wash days, you want to stop researching and watching videos. This is not just for the fun of it, it's vital so you can develop your own techniques instead of copying someone else. Do you catch my drift? I learnt this only about a month or two after starting the CGM. I was wondering why I didn't get volume and beautiful curls, and it was because I was copying other peoples routines. Once I forgot about that and just experimented, doing what I thought my hair would work best with, I got AMAZING results, specifically in regard to the application of products.

I hope this really helps you as much as it did for me!
