Dear female Fanfiction writers on Tumblr,

Please consider writing for gender neutral, or even male readers, and readers of other genders. We exist, and it is very hard for us to find stories on this website.

If you only write for female readers: Please don’t just say that it’s a ‘character abc x reader’ fic. It can easily misinterpreted as a story for gender neutral readers. Specify the gender of the reader on your fics, that shows some support as well.

Give blog recommendations of writers who write for readers of other genders as well. That helps a lot.

But most important: Show your support. Do not exclude readers who aren’t female.

Man though you know what makes me sorta sad is when nerdy, “quiet” kids latch on to me during camp and they just talk and talk and talk about a thing they’re into (Skyrim, Pokemon, Harry Potter, Doctor Who, dinosaurs, whatever). And I see the kids just light up when they say something and I can chime in with an ‘oh hey, are you talking about [x]? I love that thing! Tell me more about it.’

Like, their parents will warn me ‘so-and-so is pretty quiet and hard to engage’ but no, man, just listen, your kid is so smart and so into This Thing, they’ll engage like fuck and talk your damn ear off it you let them. Frame it in their damn terms. Or! Just! Listen to them about their Thing! And they will engage with the rest of the material! Because they know you care about them! Amazing!!!

I’m thinking of making a secondary account to reblog and stuff, so there can be more room to writing and drawing on here, so I’ll probably post more when I get that set up.

A little PSA about manga spoilers

I know the peeps at Manga Stream are doing a great job translating all our favourite Shonen Jump mangas, such as Haikyuu!!, and we all get excited when a new chapter comes out, but we need to be careful about sharing manga spoilers on social media. Manga Stream usually publishes their scanlations before the official Shonen Jump magazine is available in Japan, meaning that we get chapters earlier than Japanese fans. Out of respect for Japanese fans and all those who actually buy the magazine, we shouldn’t be sharing manga caps until Mondays when Shonen Jump is out in Japan. If this is not enough to convince you that we should not share spoilers early, you should know that Shonen Jump has become aware that someone is leaking early chapters to scanlators. This could land the scanlators in a lot of trouble since what they are doing is illegal. So please, keep this in mind and stop sharing manga screencaps before Monday. I know it’s tempting to scream immediately after seeing a new chapter of a Shonen Jump manga. I want to do it all the freaking time, I get it. But if we want to keep having early chapter translations, we need to show some discipline.

TL;DR: Please don’t share new Shonen Jump manga spoilers until they are officially published in the magazine.

I need to address this but PLEASE when the anime introduces Sister Krone we absolutely cannot not brush aside the fact that her design is racist and especially the way she’s drawn. I love her and her characterisation is great but we cannot let go of that fact at all. Artists if you do draw her NEVER draw her like how she’s drawn canonically, it’s awful and extremely racist.
