While some many questions were answered and not, I think I can help with at least one. The key with Quinn's zodiac on it was likely left by the endless to aid them on their quest much like Raj's frying pan and the mark on the wall for Estella. Our group just did not find it in this timeline.

ES Finale

Ooof, I don’t even know where to start…

I knew that trusting Rourke was an idiotic idea, but I tried it out of curiosity… Quinn is still dying, Sean isn’t happy (from what I can tell), Michelle is dealing with those fake friends again, Zahra’s our “roomie” but as cold as an iceberg, Estela was hella rude, didn’t see much of Craig, Raj, Grace, and Aleister. Lila’s alive, and a Rourke groupie again. And we don’t even get to see Jake and Mike… The only plus was starting a new friendship with Diego. #AllHailEmperorRourke

Staying on the island was also not great. Yeah, we get to stay with everyone on the island, live with our sexy husband/wife, but everyone seems like they weren’t really happy. The last thing they did was toast to their lost family members… Also upset that after getting married we don’t get to see a new house or whatever. I was looking forward to building a home on La Huerta.

The fact that we never got to see everyone reunite with their families pisses me off so much… Like I didn’t sacrifice myself to not see everyone’s future. I wanted the heart-wrenching reunion scenes! Jake seeing his mom and sister for the first time in years, Estela going back to her uncle, Sean seeing his mom again, and Quinn getting her parents back together. But, nope. (in my opinion) This was the best out of the 3. I knew I was gonna choose this anyway, because to me it just made the most sense. The voice message MC left was really sweet though i most definitely cried, and they all got together 5 years later on the island it looks like and toasted to MC. We didn’t really get as much of reaction (especially from our LI’s) as I’d hoped… But it was still worth it.

Somethings I still don’t get though:

Who was Diego crushing on in book one?

What was the point of the pirates and Kele?

Is Jake’s name cleared in the 3rd option? Does he not see his family again?

Why did I buy the bikini in the 3rd book if it doesn’t even replace that ugly purple one?

What was the deal with the Dolphin Key in the diamond scene? What does it do?

What was the deal with the robot spider on the boat?

What was the point in showing Taari disappearing at the end of book 2? They didn’t even mention it.

What was the point of the mezzberries (or whatever they’re called)?

Were they all just on a random beach in the 3rd option? If it was La Huerta, how is it still existing without Vaanu?

Estela and Zahra, Michelle and Jeanine, Lila and Aleister… Why?

What happened to Varyyn in the 1st option? Does Diego find out he’s still alive?? Or even remember him???

Well, I guess thats it. It’s done now. Over. Gone. Finito. 

I feel like the whole finale was kind of… Lackluster? Idk, I just expected something more… A 4th option or some sort of surprise after the stats. A secret ending… Huh, I guess it’s really over…

Sorry for the long post! (And low quality pics? Why tumblr?)

Easy answer for number one. The freshman, book two, chapter one is one of a my absolute favourites. It has specifically two scenes with Kaitlyn and Emily that I have always enjoyed. The first being Kaitlyn meeting the mom and their walk back to the dorm and the diamond scene at the winter festival.

What I love about them are that they are simple innocent moments in their relationship. Not a care in the world. They are just enjoying their time with each other. From kaitlyn running up and twirling Emily in the air to their silly snowball fight and kissing in the snow.

They are the moments that we do not get to see anymore. They still happen of course, but we have come to to a point in the narrative where it is simply commonplace and therefore unnecessary to keep mentioning. If anything it would become stale and too repetitive to the reader.

Anyway, the scenes are a little bit of fluff that you can go read in the first chaoter that personally warms my heart and influences my fanfics of the two. They are a raw look into how the two act.

while i get and agree with the fact that gay people should probably play gay people and gay stories are best written by gay people, the fervor to prove that “straight people shouldn’t play gay characters!!” is what the interviewer used to forcibly out lee pace so like

idk maybe slow your roll and realize that like… actors can be closeted, content creators can be closeted, and tbh this “you can only write your own experiences, never write someone else’s” rhetoric is also a bigot’s fucking wet dream?? like the perfect excuse to never write diverse characters?? and to say that they have nothing in common with people who don’t look/love/exist the same way as them??

yeah, the author of simon vs the homo sapien’s agenda is a cis straight woman, which means love, simon (though directed by a married gay man with multiple gay characters played by gay/bi actors) is based on a novel written by a straight woman… but this straight woman literally ends her book acknowledging the LGBT teens who helped her write the book and make sure she was writing it appropriately.

this is the content we want

listen… EVERY SINGLE piece of media EVER involves some level of writing about experiences that are not your own, especially if it’s diverse. even bland stories just about white people involves an author writing about genders that are not their own. if you want a story with characters of color, white authors are going to have to write about those perspectives. if you want gay characters in every story, straight authors are gonna have to write about those perspectives. even LGBT narratives might involve gay authors writing about bi characters or cis authors writing about trans characters.

what we HOPE FOR when they do that is that they talk to people… actually belonging to those groups to learn what is and isn’t appropriate and true to life. which is what the author of simon vs the homo sapien’s agenda did.

it’s exactly what she did. she literally worked in a support group for LGBT and GNC kids, saw they did not have cute love stories written for them after they told her this, and then worked with them to give them the love story they craved.

this is a good thing. this is progress for lgbt people. this is the path we need to walk towards getting LGBT content created by LGBT authors.

when you attempt to take the ~moral ground on protesting this film, all you’re doing is telling people who fund these projects that gay products don’t sell. they don’t get the nuance of what you’re going for. and, chances are, you’re looking like a fucking hypocrite, because i can promise you most of the canon gay characters you stan profit a cishet somehow (if they’re even canon).

so, y’unno, as someone who has read simon vs the homo sapien’s agenda AND seen the fucking movie let me tell you!! it’s fine!! it’s diverse beyond having gay character, it’s written respectively, and it hit home on a lot of experiences i WISH i had as a gay teen. it’s corny, it’s silly, and it’s all i ever would have wanted at 13, 14, 15

if you don’t want to see it, just fucking say so! but don’t act like you’re doing it on moral grounds. you can just… not like a movie or not want to see it without it being some moral victory.

My last brain cell is heart shaped

i am so, so glad you guys are loving my trans lesbian daughter aisha bhatt as much as i do! it was really important to me to be able to write a love interest who was both trans and gay, and it was also really important to me to have a flashback moment where we meet her at the very beginning of her transition. so many trans people, including myself, have the experience of desperately wanting to transition but feeling like it’s pointless to even think about it because they’ll never “pass,” let alone be considered beautiful, as their true gender. like, so much of your self-worth is wrapped up in whether or not you look like a cis person! and it shouldn’t be like that!!

so, with the college flashback scene, where we meet aisha for the first time on her first night on the town presenting as a woman, i was very specific in my notes to pixelberry’s art team: like, this is essentially Day One for aisha, she still has pretty short hair, her makeup is gonna be modest because she doesn’t have a ton of experience applying it yet, and she’s not exactly “passing” perfectly, but that doesn’t matter! fuck that! what matters is that she’s finally getting to be who she is and she’s radiantly happy about it and her friends are behind her 110%! and she’s taken her first step on this road and she’s gonna continue on that road and we will meet her again in adulthood as an exquisite butch in a leather jacket and a cool pixie cut.
