There's A Little Cave On A Little Beach That For Most People Is Just A Little Out Of Reach But For Us

There's a little cave On a little beach That for most people Is just a little out of reach But for us It's always worth getting there

Past the palm trees Through the vines We walk there barefoot Taking our time Since for us It's our magic little somewhere

We lean on the damp rocks Hand in hand And we don't talk Dig our toes in the sand Our paradise is Quiet like like the waves

I watch you Looking out towards the sea Where the gulls cry Where you walk with me When you can't make it here To our simple hidden cave

We light our candles They light up our eyes Burn up our fears And our disguises So by amber nights We really see each other

When the sun comes up We go out again Say another farewell To our secret den Go our separate ways Always coming back for one another

A small zen garden Sits on the therapist's desk To calm both of us

What do the living Do with the dead? What do we do?

What do we do when Someone vanishes?

What do the living Do when consumed With such a void? Death Is for the living

Your mind is a carousel Of recycled thoughts Cyclical relapses Up and down Between your Rejected horses You are continuously Bouncing backwards And I'm not along For the ride

Solitude, How you serenade me With your silence.

The gentle lull of the day, Songs in the night.

Sing to me Your symphony of Rustling leaves And howling winds.

Bring me only The call of the coyote, Close, never near.

Simple solitude, I sleep to the sound Of only you.

I saw you when the sun went down There was a spark You saw me as the night came We saw each other in the dark

Maybe we hesitated for a moment For hands to hold Finally when they touched There was a jolt

You and me and an abandoned place An apartment high in the city In a blacked out world The roofs gray and gritty

But you laid your palm on mine And the current flowed Through our fingertips and wrists Our arms began to glow

In an older kind of world You and I were electric Before we were drawn together We never knew we kept it

As our hands lit up our faces I kissed you on the lips We shocked our hearts so hard The current slightly tripped

The people down below us murmured As our light grew and grew I think your eyes were just as bright As mine were for you

When you kissed me back We shook the floors Trembling in the building Rattling all the doors

The people started running Some yelling up the stairs But neither of us heard them We were both unaware

Surrounded in a shield of power Afraid we might explode You squeezed my hands as we burst Away on our currents we rode

When the curled up cat Stretches out to reveal Its soft warm belly And the heat from its fur Rises up onto your hands Before you touch the body That's trusting and Purring just for you

That's what my love Feels like Unfurled and vulnerable And warm without Ever putting your Hands on me

When the notes are soft In a smooth tender song That lull inside the Fullness of your heart When the chorus comes In a melody that makes You think of drinking Coffee on a winter night

That's what my love Feels like A house to come home to When you turn the keys Lights already on I am that sigh of relief

I don't like anything I wrote today It's all too depressing And I'm not depressed I don't think

It's just January dragging me down Down into the snow No one's dreaming of white anymore No one's dreaming of January

The grackles are sitting in limp trees Shifting around quietly, waiting For the ground to thaw But it will be several months still

I like the smell of steady rain The sound it makes on glass Quietly crashing Against the window pane The clouds a wall of heavy gray A day that's seemingly mundane

In silence he takes out the pieces And I pick out the strain Then he watches me get lost in Faraway thoughts that drift away He can't hear our hidden heartbeat Like a drumming through my brain I might have washed away Still here in water we remain

She sneaks back into my head Tiptoes her way into the room In the middle of the night For a second I didn't know She was gone But she wakes me with A whisper kiss on my cheek

I'm drowzy and she's Wide awake And with sleep filled eyes I watch her paint the walls Create her masterpieces In all my memories of her

We were just a secret crush We were meaningful glances And brushed fingertips Kisses in empty hallways Deep breaths in frozen rooms

She's still making art here More alive than she ever was More energy than she ever had More awake in my dreams Than she had been before She fell into her deep sleep

I hear her quiet footsteps As she moves between worlds Multiplying every thought Hearing all the words We all should have said

Between everyone she visits Through every broken door She still sings to us And even as a phantom dancer I carry her around She's no secret anymore She made sure of that
