⁣An exploration of trauma, from a pretty happy-go-lucky guy!

There is no exploration or anything of the fight between Shouto and Tetsutetsu not to mention the ramifications of it! Needless to say, Shouto came near to killing Tetsutetsu, and I as a creator who loves a good ol’ trauma exploration am not going to pass this chance up to explore the physical and mental ramifications that fight had!

⁣Note: This is based on the manga, as this was months before the airdate of Episode 96, and thus addresses things differently than may have been if it were finished after the airing.

⁣The third battle of joint training is one laced with legacy, trauma, and pride. But no ones willing talk about the ramifications of Shouto’s actions in his fight against Tetsutetsu. So Shimi and I will!

This is partially an OC x Canon ask blog for the OC, Shimi Shinozuku, and Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu. They are indeed dating and the canon ship of this blog.

Time on the blog will never be set in one place, although designs will heavily feature 2nd and 3rd year scarring and designs as its central mooring point in the timeline. Due to lack of canonical knowledge, all teachers will remain with their classes (Vlad King and Aizawa will still be the homerooms to their respective classess).

On this blog, we will now also be accepting questions and posts in a more casual manner, talking about the series and discussion of other OCs and such trends as well. I’m slowly transitioning it from being purely an RP reliant experience to something more loose!

Personality: Stubborn and stalwart to a fault. Due to past trauma, Shimi has become more closed off while wrangling with depression and anxiety. 

Appearance: Dark navy hair and golden eyes. Her hair is really short, a little over shoulder length, and it’s really wavy and puffy. Her eyes are almond shaped and have a visible eyelid crease when open. Her body is a bit lanky, but not too skinny. Her body is toned. She is relatively flat-chested and prefers to wear the male uniform. She has faint scars across her arms, as well as various hairline scars and scratches from branches and twigs. She has one faint, long scar on her lower right arm.

Shimi’s Quirk(s!)

Anxiety (Primary Quirk)

Transformation Type 

By flooding the users system with adrenaline, the user is able to boost their physical capabilities by a percentage of what they are already capable of. 

There is a max limit to how much a person can boost their capabilities. Think of it as a video game status boost. 

It can only be used if there is another human within visible range. The user will begin to spark as a visual signifier of usage (quirk exhaust).

Drawbacks:

- Extended usage leads to minor effects of adrenaline overdose. Please take care to allow the body to rest so as to ensure optimal quirk usage.

Limitations: 

Phase 1:

When boosting past the max limit, the user is put under a time limit of 45 seconds before they pass out. Quirk exhaust will appear denser as a visual signifier of exceeding the max limit. 

The quirk will shut itself off for the next 12 hours to regulate and clean the user’s body of excessive adrenaline used to power it.

If the user attempts to activate the quirk at this time, they will be temporarily paralyzed in a random limb for a few hours. They will also experience the minor side effects of adrenaline overdose as the body cleans itself out. 

Phase 2:

When boosting 100& over the max limit, the user experiences the 45 second time limit as in phase 1. Once the user passes out, they will become comatose.

Known comas last for a few days, but are unknown if they last longer. All previous drawbacks apply.

Innate Bodily Mutations: 

- Stronger muscles for more output of force per input (the muscular structure is like that of a crabs).

- The user’s body is modified to handle adrenaline in amounts that the typical human cannot, allowing for much higher amounts of it to be created within the body for fuel of the quirk. The average adrenaline levels are also much higher.

- Higher pain tolerance due to adrenaline in the body.

Tiger Form (Secondary Quirk)

Transformation(-Mutant) Type

The user has the capability to transform into a tiger or gain tiger-like qualities.

Drawbacks: 

Due to the nature of being a secondary quirk, the quirk factor is naturally more unstable and makes the quirk innately unreliable in its usage or control. Years upon years of training is required to use the secondary quirk as reliably as the primary. 

Innate bodily mutations (as like with Mutation Quirks) remain since birth, but focused changes may happen without the user’s knowledge or consent until properly trained.

Emotional Activation:

This quirk, due to its unstable nature, may be activated through extreme emotions on occasion:

- Claws and stripes from anger, and other negatively aligned emotions

- Ears and tail when surprised or content

The exact emotions to pin-point the cause for the emotional activation but it is believed that due to it’s instability it uses emotional cues as it’s next best cue for usage. 

Blind Rage:

A “mode” of Tiger Form. Only achieved when the user is in great distress, they gain claws, fangs, and stripes across their face.

The innate instinct of this quirk takes hold and makes the user’s ability to think rationally null. For as long as they remain in this “mode” they will have lost what humanity they have. 

They will only think about causing destruction to the ones causing distress and all others that are perceived as dangerous figures. Destruction for survival will become their main goal. 

Innate Bodily Mutations:

- Sharper canines

- Enhanced sense of smell

- Slightly enhanced sense of hearing

- Slightly enhances sight; better night vision, slit pupils

- Tiger instincts; chuffing, kneading, grooming habits

- Tiger-like Reproductive Cycle; lack of periods

I’m actually not sure if there’s any explanation to be had for this part. Shimi is angry to the point of violence which is amplified by her unstable secondary quirk (of which the mechanics I will be updating on her profile,,, sooner or later lmao).

on bakugous hero name

[ SPOILERS FOR MY HERO ACADEMIA CHAPTERS CHAPTER 293 maybe beyond ]

Okay so like I said I was going to write that post about Katsuki Bakugou’s hero name some time ago, anyways I’m getting around to doing that right now! So we need to address something vitally important that I should’ve done earlier but now is an apt time as any. 

“Ground Zero” as a fandom hero name for Bakugou is something I am personally chill with. It is, however, no longer chill with it when people say things like “Bakugou’s hero name should have canonically been ‘Ground Zero”. 

I really don’t think I need to get into the reason why, but I’ve been proven wrong already so we have to do this now. 

My Hero Academia (Boku no Hero Academia) is a JAPANESE anime and manga series.

“Ground Zero” is defined as “the point on the Earth’s surface closest to a detonation“ when used in relation to large bombs and nuclear weapons

For those who do not already see where “Ground Zero” maybe being an issue as a canonical hero name I will go more in-depth.

Japan suffered two nuclear bombings in August of 1945 at Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Furthermore, as a result of the 2011 Tohoku Earthquake and Tsunami, the cooling system at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant had a meltdown causing everyone within 10km to have to be evacuated (at the time of writing, I do not believe people have been allowed back into this area). 

Alright now lets get into the meat of this.

“Ground Zero” is a term highly, highly associated with nuclear weaponry and other weapons of mass destruction when discussing bombs and such. Guess which country has actual generational trauma relating to the destruction of their cities and home via bombs? Japan!

Guess which hero name would be the WORST name that has bombing connotations to give to an audience that in recent history of having to live through horrible nuclear events, and have a horrible history regarding bombing and nuclear bombing in particular? Ground Zero!

And before anyone! Brings up the prototype design sheet of Bakugou, this picture! 

Just because this prototype design says “CODENAME: 爆心地” which does indeed translate to “center of explosion; hypocenter; ground zero”, that does not give you any reason to not consider the emotional impact that it potentially has towards a full on generationally traumatized society. 

Unless, of course, you truly do not care about people for who this media is directed towards because you know insensitive western-centric mindsets who don’t actually care about people other than themselves and their own enjoyment topped with a likely, extremely U.S. mindset that nukes are just “good”. 

Frankly, I would like to also discuss the implications of this mindset possibly stemming from anti-Asian discrimination or a fetishization of some sort or general disrespect for the literal people that this work of media is intended for, but I don’t quite know how to word it nor do I have the patience to make it easy for everyone to understand. Hopefully people still understand it anyways.

tl;dr: it’s a highly self centered and culturally ignorant thing to say that “Ground Zero” should’ve been canon for Bakugou’s hero name, which takes absolutely no care for the generational trauma of the Japanese who have suffered due to horrific bombings. fandom name? a-okay by me. Bitching that the name isn’t canon? leave!

And the reason why Mira had been abusing Shimi the way she had been was for... POPULARITY?! Can you imagine how self-absorbed you’d have to be to do that? Well, Mira is exactly that much.

Of course being shoved around for three years does things to a person, Shimi in this case. Being the target of death threats, other things to cause her injury and harm, loss and destruction of personal property, and thoroughly having her reputation drug through the ground doesn’t bode well for one’s mental state. 

And here we see the first instance of a very dangerous side effect of Shimi’s secondary quirk, Tiger Form.

There’s also a few hints here relating to her future at UA, mostly that she didn’t make the mark for the Hero Course practical exam.
