Supercorp: The Proposal AU š
PLS this is assault Iām screaming ššš
I see a lot of people who tell young peopleāespecially young people who are heading into collegeāthat they shouldĀ ādo what they love.ā And theyāre right. You should do what you love.
But thereās a world of difference between doing what you love for you,Ā and doing what you love for a paycheck.Ā
I went to undergrad for graphic design and 3-D designāart and more art, I usually sayāand I loved it. You know what I didnāt love? Trying to collect my fees from clients. Trying to meet unrealistic, over-simplified or over-specific briefs from people who didnāt know what they were talking about. Coming home, having worked creatively all day, with no creative juice left for the things I wanted to do.
You know what I would tell you instead? Do something that you can be interested in, with people you like.
You donāt have to love it. Loving your work can be a lot, and it often means you have to live in your job 24/7. Some people can do that. Not everyone can, or should.Ā But if you can find work thatās interesting enough that it doesnāt feel tedious, and people you can enjoy spending your 9-5 with, and you can make money, thatās great! It means you can do the things you love for you.
Iām in law school now. Itās interesting work, and difficult, and I like doing it. I like how complicated it gets, and I like the stories it tells. But I donāt come home and read law journals for fun. I come home, and I sculpt, and I draw, and I paint, and I read. I do these things for me.
And I love it.Ā
hi i hope you're doing well. so i basically broke up with my girlfriend of four years and i feel like half a person. i was wondering if you'd had some sc fic recs that don't have a happy ending? lol it's just that i spend a lot of time reading fics and i absolutely can't stand right now to read something sweet and with happy endings and happy people
ooohhh my love i am so so sorry, i canāt imagine how painful that must be. iāll leave this post for anyone else to add on to as well, but off the top of my head:
in which a half confession breaks them both by myselfffff
she herself is a haunted house by blymoon is less a love story and more just an ouch little character snapshot of lena
spending all my nights alone (waiting for you to call me) by dancingthru
if anyone has any others, please reply and let me know!
non-happy ending fics are very difficult because people really do not receive them well. i love them, personally, but in my experience (as a writer) the further you veer into that territory, the more risk you run of really low engagement and/or 100 comments that just say āwhereās part two so it ends happily!!!!ā so a lot of my really particularly angsty ideas never make it onto paper.
Bring back captain CP! ā¤ļøš
The Half of It is so good not just because itās a beautiful queer love story, but because, at its heart, itās about different kinds of love - not just romantic.Ā
Watching Paul, a straight white guy, love Ellie, a Chinese lesbian, was just the sweetest thing ever. I am literally crying while writing this.Ā
You can see throughout the film how Paul just caresĀ for Ellie: making sure her time is compensated, sliding a guitar across the stage at the talent show, making her food, spending time with her father even with their language barrier, encouraging her to go to a party and making sure sheās okay after getting drunk at that party (he literally tucks her into his bed and he sits on a chair).Ā
Ellieās a quiet nerd who doesnāt seem to engage at all with other high schoolers, let alone talk about herself. But you can see how Paul kind of disrupts that. Her ultimate expression of love and trust is revealing her past (specifically, her dead mother, whom she still clearly grieves for). She writes letters to food critics so he can do something heās passionate about, she goes to his football games even though she doesnāt even like football, she literally facilitates dates between him and her crush.Ā
And so Paul thinks heās in love with Ellie, because he doesnāt understand that his love for her isnāt necessarily romantic. He thinks thereās only one kind of love. And Ellie doesnāt think she understands love at all. Theyāre both wrong.Ā
I honestly thought the film would end with some declaration of love. I figured that Paul would shoutĀ āI love you!ā as he chased Ellieās train and that Ellie would mouthĀ āI love youā back. But thatās not how they express love - itās expressed in how Ellie cries and laughs and how Paul grins like a moron.Ā
TL;DR: The Half of It is a touching love story between two friends.Ā
Won't be tolerating any Cal slander when it comes to her being down just disgustingly down... down on the ground for Juliette.
Calliope Antigone Burns pined for Juliette Anastasia Atwood Fairmont so long and so hard that she figured out she was a vampire when no one else did because she couldn't stop watching her, closely.
Calliope not once but twice ditched her plan to stake Juliette in the pantry and only did it when she saw Juliette coming down to bite her and as confirmed by Juliette, Calliope wouldn't have staked her otherwise.
Calliope started to question her purpose as a hunter and what they do because she saw the humanity and the good in Juliette.
Calliope decided to take Juliette home to her parents and show them that she was refusing to be apart from Juliette after her mother gave her a final warning to stay away from her.
Calliope could not eat, sleep or think clearly unless she was physically in the same space with Juliette.
Calliope WAS GOING TO FUCKING LEAVE TOWN - LEAVE HER FUCKING FAMILY- to protect Juliette after they found Creepy Dead Guy and knew a vampire killed him.
Calliope stood up to her parents and Juliette's own parents to defend her.
Calliope came to believe that she and Juliette were meant to be and that together they freed each other from the expectations of their families.
Real talk, just because a character has a somewhat cool exterior doesn't mean they're unloving. Calliope is a trained killer, essentially. She's had this instilled in her -this way that she carries herself. But she's full of mushy feelings inside. She's not mean. She has a good heart. Yes she's feeling extremely hurt and betrayed by Juliette turning Theo. But she's only feeling that way because she loves Juliette.

Check out amelmajrii or lea-schuller, or this post they did for the Match Day 1 games--the channels/apps/websites there should still be valid for the upcoming matches.
A search on YouTube should at least show some highlight videos--if not full match ones. These are the ones I could find on a cursory search:
Soccer Villa
Livescore41
Hits Pedia
King SportVN
I think the apps/websites listed in amelmajrii's post will show replays. These are ones confirmed to have full match streams/replays:
7Plus -- all the matches for free, but needs a VPN to Australia
...others to be added (if you know of an app/service/website that has replays, please let me know and I'll add it on here)
NeySport (I haven't seen them post Olympics matches, but they've done so in the past for other competitions, so they might post for this too)
My Drive - I'll add videos here as I finish recording them - These videos were / will be recorded with ffmpeg because they are not encrypted so I didn't / won't have to use a screen recorder :) - The 15-minute break between the halves are included in the recordings. I decided not to edit the raw recorded videos because that would have taken more time, especially if I want to keep the file size down.
