Work Stories From A Specialty Grocery Store (background context)

I work at a smallish, specialty grocery store. We pack our own bulk stuff, like rice, beans, flour, sugar, and also a bunch of other really specific stuff, like organic coconut sugar, or pine nuts. We have a produce department, and we sell a lot of organic stuff. We also do our own prep-work, and all organic produce has to be taped with yellow tape saying 'Organically Grown' We have a deli and a meat department, and the meat department sometimes sells uncommon meat, like rabbit. We only have 3 tills, and so it gets really clogged up if a lot of people are shopping. At the end of the day, everyone working the closing shift has to stay after closing and help clean up, as we don't have a cleaning team. Since it's a specialty store, sometimes the only place you can find a certain item in the entire city, we get a lot of weird customers.

I might make more context posts if i want to, but most of my posts under the #work stories tag will be posts about interesting customers, funny things coworkers said, or random out-of-context quotes or pictures.

yay a post about arthritis! thank you!

Seeing people say that arthritis isn't disabling in the year 2023 sure gives me some. . . not great feelings. Like yeah, cool, thanks for completely undermining the decade or so of horrible pain I've experienced, my gradual loss of mobility, the constant fatigue and confusion (because rheumatoid arthritis affects more than just your joints!), the ableism I've faced from everyone in my life, and the degradation of my fine motor skills as the pain in my fingers and wrists especially gets worse and worse.

Also the ageism in it. . . "My grandparent has arthritis, that doesn't make them disabled." Idk how to tell you this bud but pretty much every elderly person in the world is disabled in some way because bodies break down and start doing weird shit naturally. Sorry that you see aging and disability as inherently contradictory but it's not my fault that you're so determined to gatekeep the label of "disabled" from people that you can't show even a bit of compassion to people whose experiences are different from yours.

Anyway @ fellow arthritic people I know this sucks so fucking bad and that no one takes us seriously but I promise you are not alone ily 🪻

Dear Person In My Drama Class Who 'Tripped' Over A Cable And Almost Broke The Soundboard A Few Days Ago...

Why did you not apologize? Why were you even near the tech booth in the first place? Why did you walk away when the director was crying because the soundboard is expensive?

(Don't worry it's fine now, the board has seen better days but I guess it's still kicking)

I mean, you gotta start somewhere...

You youngsters have it easy, with your good 3d models and hot voices for the ink demons. Only the '17 kids remember when the Ink Demon used to look like THIS:
