Anakin: *appears*
*Vader's theme plays*
Me (with increasing hysteria): What do you mean by that? Dave?! DAVE, WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY THAT
People hate too much... Star Wars is bad, we know this! Let's love together instead, let's search for the good in everything, and never give up on our dreams of what Star Wars could be. That's my Jedi way or whatever
"padme enabled anakin" ppl just don't get it. She wanted to be him almost as much as she wanted to be with him.
i think it’s prettty important that padme is the one who says “to be angry is to be human.” padme, the person who, throughout the entire saga, is allowed to express her anger the least. she stays composed when decrying the senate. she balances feeling betrayed by anakin with trying to talk him down. padme’s been a diplomat since 14. it would take years of unlearning for her to access anakin’s naked, messy rage. and for her to assert that volatility is part of being alive? padme knows she’s been denied her humanity. and she can only hope for moments of escape: she can never regain it completely.
the progression of the lineages in star wars is so funny to me like count dooku, most pretentious asshole this side of thrawn, sees his legacy in a colourful mandalorian girl with more attunement to the evil lesbian hunting her down than to the force. Mace Windu, incredibly well respected duelist and diplomat, eventually leads to a kid who calls himself jabba the hutt and turned his lightsaber into a gun
The fact that obimaul isn't a more popular ship makes me crazy. How do more people not see it.
They're narrative foils. Maul survives a killing blow because the thought of Kenobi kept him alive, and what is obsession but a mirror of devotion? Obi-Wan is the master of defense and Maul is the master of offense. Obi-Wan's first and last kill of his life is Maul. The trajectory of their lives is extraordinary similar until the Same Duel sends them shooting off into opposite directions and defines them both for decades. A duel that teaches Obi-Wan the feeling of revenge that will haunt Maul the rest of his life. Obi-Wan was the apprentice who was never wanted. Maul was wanted too much. Obi-Wan overcame his trauma, but Maul never could. Both rebellious by nature, forced into the mold of the Perfect Example of their respective orders, and yet they have the same failing - Maul, desperate for companionship from ANYBODY, and Obi-Wan who struggles with his attachment to the people he loves. Both forced into exile by the same man who destroyed their lives and orders. They've hurt each other in unimaginable ways and yet understand each other like no one else can.
"The only one allowed to kill you is me" but isnt that just another way of asking live for me? Who is your rival but your purpose? Is there not a tenderness in the eyes of your worst enemy who has seen you at your absolute lowest and still needs you to get back up? Because without you, what are they?
U can watch Star Wars so many times and it doesn’t prepare u for how dumb Star Wars is. For one thing I think we gloss over how kenobi (who has definitely been at the club. Please.) describes the mos eisley cantina as the worst most villainous place ever and then u get inside and it’s a pack of muppets vaping
i'll never stop thinking how they casually dropped the "why do i feel like you will be the death of me?" line between obi-wan and anakin and moved on like it never happend
I love love love the Jedi Apprentice series for obi-wan backstory bc it adds so much to his character... But to do that for him and ignore the fact that padme has the same depth to her (if not more!) is really disrespectful imo
it does bother me how deeply people will mine obi-wan's child soldier trauma that comes from a dubiously-canon book and isn’t referenced at any point in the movies (or shows), but straight-up never talk about padme's child soldier/queen trauma, which is half the plot of tpm and while maybe clumsily followed-up on, is nonetheless a real genuine part of her character included from the start
So I was going through a drawer of stuff from when I was little and I found this…
he consumes my every waking thought and most of the sleeping ones too
