In some ways, it's quite convenient for your wife's boyfriend to be living so close. It means that she can drop by his place easily whenever they're in the mood for sex -- or he can drop by your house, whichever is easiest at the moment. And you and he have become pretty good friends, now that you see quite a lot of each other. But it also means that everyone in the neighborhood knows about their relationship -- and know that when there are neighborhood events of any kind, she is very likely to attend as part of a "couple" with him instead of with you.

Okay sweetie, my date’s here… are you ready? Remember what we talked about- be polite and respectful, answer the door, see him in, make him comfortable and get him a drink. And by all means, don’t speak unless spoken to.

We’ll have our drinks, get acquainted, and then we’ll head out- he’s taking me for dinner and dancing, and then, if all goes well, I’ll probably ask him back here, so make sure you get your chores done while we’re out, and be ready to welcome us back, take our coats, and unless we need you for anything, I’ll expect you to quietly excuse yourself and go to bed.
