I'm making this post to announce that there will be She-Ra Live Blogging happening now. It does include art tho so it's still art related but yes hi hello spop fandom it's nice to finally meet you.

Hi, my name is Daniel Fossey.

I'm 23 years old, bi, nonbinary, an artist, & also I'm a fucking idiot too.

I've never seen She-Ra.

Okay, well, I HAVE seen the original 1980s She-Ra show.

But we'll discuss that later when relevant.

I have.....vague nostalgia I guess?

I did WATCH both the original He-Man & She-Ra as a kid.

But I only did so if I didn't have a better option.

As for the reboot:

See, I've never seen this show. But I decided this year, I want to experience the whole thing. So, instead of binging it, I've decided I want to keep track of my experience going through this entire show. Episode by episode. In order to see how I feel as the show goes on, to see what effect it has on me, & it's also an excuse to get myself practicing art in a cozy way. How so?

Okay let me break it down.

Every single episode will be watched & then have a blog post made discussing my thoughts on the episode, & along with that:

Each time I watch an episode, I want to draw an art piece to go with the post, so it'll get me drawing consistently & maybe I'll grow as an artist in the time it takes me to watch the whole thing.

When this show first came out, I was still stuck in my 'anti-sjw edgelord white boy' phase, I had yet to realize that I was bi & even less aware that I'm nonbinary. It was a dark period of my life. I passed on this show largely because I felt like I wouldn't be a good human or whatever. Well, I'm still depressed & sad but I'm much more matured & no longer in the garbage angsty idiot teenage white boy mindset I was once in. & Idk, I know this show means a lot to a lot of folks.

I want to see how it affects me, understand what made this reboot click with so many people, understand why there was a lot of idk, 'controversy' about it? Idk why but I know there was a lot of shit spewed & I guess I'll see what the fuss was about there.

And ultimately, look I think I'm repeating myself now so just:

I wanna take this journey. And I hope you will accompany me on this journey. Maybe by the end, I'll have grown, maybe you will too.

Grown both as an artist & as a person. So-

Welcome back to AKC character introductions, today we have a character I didn't invent. I mean, I guess I gave her a personality??? Since we never see it??? But I didn't design her??? Eh.

Meet Mew Mew!

(Not to be confused with Mad Mew Mew)

Mew Mew is the leader of the magical girl group known as the Kissy Cuties. Her personality is very, very inspired off of Raku-chan. However, there are no squirrels in this story. Except for Nat. I never really considered this parallel before now.

I don't know what else to point out that hasn't been revealed by Alphys already (and won't spoil the story), but uhhhhh did you know she's the only member of the Kissy Cuties who retains her animal features outside of her magical girl transformation? Yeah, the others are normal humans who get ears and stuff when they transform. Mew Mew's normally just a cat girl. Blessing or curse, call it now.

Despite the lack of information I can share, she's one of my favorite characters to write. She's silly and whimsical and even more silly. I hope you like her, too.

Yeah that's pretty swell.

A big step up from the original cartoon which was just.....sad? It's just like a sad attempt of being a cool retro cartoon theme song. It fails to live up to any of the greats of decades past.

TMNT 87? Iconic. Badass. Groovy. Radical.

Transformers? Iconic as well. Absolutely fucks.

The Super Mario Bros. Super Show? Fucking ART that makes Hans Zimmer look like an absolute fucking dork.

Sonic Underground? LITERALLY THE GREATEST FUCKING PIECE OF MUSIC EVER COMPOSED BY MANKIND.

80s She-Ra? It's like watching a cat spray diarrhea across my carpet for a solid minute. It's just sad.

Okay so I literally don't know any of their names but uh-

Anyways these goon squad characters are lame, also fuck that one girl who was bullying Cat-Ra, like, damn. The fuck is her problem?

Yeah so the only two goons I find myself enjoying are these two because I just get a strong feeling that they might be gay.

Again, I have no proof or evidence. But I'm gonna just say that they are anyway because I decided that I want to & you can't stop me.

Also one of them is a lizard dude. Like I said, that objectively makes him cool as fuck because reptiles are rad as hell.

She's just.....tall. She's a tall lass. Big. Large. Massive. A Tree.

Like, the fact that she's just....big. Like this is a needed change for her transformation. Being taller is an essential part of it.

One of her magical powers is just being really tall I guess. Like that's part of the transformation, she gets BIG. So that's just considered a power, because it makes her taller.

Being a tall fuck is considered a magical ability in this universe.

Also why did this episode just turn into Pixars' Brave (2012) for the middle part? I'm not upset I'm just confused bc I didn't expect to be hit with this sudden flashback to 2012 shit. But I like this old lady.

But (good job daniel you used but twice in a row, you're so good at writing you stupid fucking idiot-) I just kept being reminded of Brave while watching. I don't know if that's a good thing or not. I haven't watched Brave in like a decade. Like, damn though, this part just reminded me of it a lot & I feel it's worth mentioning.

I should rewatch Brave sometime.
