With Halloween Month just around the bend, I went and made an (unofficial) LMK Prompt list for the month! For art, writing, Cosplay and whatever you decide!

Ultimately I think something people often do without realizing is that they keep stripping SWK of attributes that make him so interesting and give it to another character — who more often than not ends up being Macaque of all people

Cares for children and is a good father figure to the monkeys? Macaque

Has a plan even when faced against a strong force in short notice? Macaque

Capable of tricking even the most cunning of people? Macaque

But the moment you describe an attribute that’s negative people often pin it to Wukong such as being an “awful planner” or “a poor mentor” or “someone who abandons people when they need it the most”

When in fact SWK does everything in his power to make sure Xiaotian is cared for and has a stable support system and did his best to try and get to him as quickly as possible when reaching for the Samadhi Fire map.

Not saying Macaque can’t have these qualities either but it’s almost saddening when people take away parts of SWK that make him interesting and fun

To clarify, I love LMK to death, it’s one of my favorite JTTW iterations, but there’s so much more to learn and read about in mythology, taking one singular version and thinking that’s 100% canon is blocking you off from so much!

It’s like only seeing Marvel’s version of Thor and thinking that’s how he should act in every single story ever XD (pls don’t come after me I love thor)

Please please please read the mythology it’s so cool how varied and layered it can be!!!

I really hope all LMK fans come to learn LMK is not a good representation of chinese mythos but its a fun parody on it. I think all western LMK fans should realize the show is not exactly made for them, and I hope LMK encourages fans to look into the actual, very different mythology in a way separated from the parody material of LMK.

Do you think about the way that Sun Wukong in the show views Qi Xiaotian as the most wonderful thing in the world?

Do you think about the stages of self-love that must go through his head as he watches Qi Xiaotian, a fogged up mirror of himself, cry ever so freely and get pulled into a group of people who and adore him and how he watches him grow brilliantly like a star slowly staging itself into a sun?

Do you think Sun Wukong, Victorious Fighting Buddha, a pillar of heroism and hope and inspiration, sees this young version of himself in Xiaotian and thinks, I adore you, I love you, I think you are the most wonderful thing, and I will never let you become what I am, ever, and thus lets him have stability and joy and hope and never brings him down because he could never have that for himself when he was younger? Because he was forced to find enlightenment as a punishment for an action of chaos he did not pursue out of selfish desire to become the number one being in the world to rule over everything—but as a way to appease a man and warrior and general who thought he was perfect and ran him down until he was nothing more than an angry caged demon under a mountain?

Do you think about how everyone abandons Wukong and Wukong abandons Xiaotian through and through but never with selfish desire? Never does he leave with the idea of, Lords, I need to get away from him, he’s too much, I can’t handle him, but with the thought of a worried love that plagues him even as he smashes through his very core memories of punishment and isolation? How he would break Heaven and Earth for this young adult who looks at him as if he is the greatest person in the world? How he adores Qi Xiaotian, this foolish, hyperactive, eager and beloved version of himself—how he adores this kid because he sees a way for him to diverge from the same paths he took when he was younger and how he never once feared him for who he was?

Do you think about how Sun Wukong—someone who Only values people by how much they’re worth—smiles at Qi Xiaotian and asks if he’s alright and covers him with his whole body and holds back all of his power… because he adores his apprentice and he would never do anything to hurt him?

Do you think Sun Wukong knew he was capable of feeling such love?

Every time someone says Macaque is as powerful as SWK i make him an inch shorter

I went overboard a bit XD

Hehehe lunar sorcerers are so much fun to play

I made slight scale pattern designs for each moon phase you take power from, which I used smoky quartz as a bit of inspiration for since she’s a gem dragon

(I fell into a drawing coma doing this, it took the whole day but it’s dope as hell so worth it)
