Does concentrating financial support on one user really build up the community? Or does it only perpetuate the idea that conventionally attractive content creators are deserving of that support? There are lots of folks struggling who have been through similar situations, and we should be supporting all people not just a singled out individual. Not trying to dissuade a kind idea, but it’s very focused on one creator which can make others question their own worth. Just something to think about
It’s a good thought anon, and I’m certainly not trying to isolate anyone here by trying to do a nice thing for Nyx. You’re absolutely right there are plenty of folks who struggle and we should absolutely be supporting everyone to the best we can! I encourage anyone (and I’ve seen plenty of posts across different accounts) to reach out and express/vent their concerns. We’re a community and should be uplifting to all.
That being said, we’re also not mind readers. If people don’t speak up or vocalize about it, we won’t know. That’s not to dismiss comfort levels cause some people are more open to vocalizing events going on in their life than others and that’s totally ok. But I advocated for her cause I’ve had numerous interactions with Nyx in the past and she’s an amazing human being, dog mom, wife, and community member. She deserves our support too, not because she’s “conventionally attractive.”
